Life Lessons Every PAAU Student Should Know Before Graduating

As a student you probably would not believe us if we
tell you that are absolutely naive and no, you are not
on top of the world.
You will soon graduate from the university, service
year is going to be awesome (at least according to the
stories you’ve heard).
After service, you are going to get a job, have a family,
build a home, become a millionaire and live happily
ever after.
There is just one problem with your plan. The only
problem with your plan is the real world.
This article is to lets students know things to look out
for before they graduate so they don’t get railroaded.

 1. A Degree Does Not Entitle You To A Job
We all know getting a degree means a lot of hard work
and commitment but because you have a degree does
not mean somebody is going to grant you an
automatic job offer.
Gone are the days when all you needed to get a good
job was a university degree.
We were all told the same lies in secondary school, get
a university degree and a mouth watering job would
fall on your lap.
The smart people are the ones who figured out this lie
early in school and made sure the time they spent in
school would separate from other students who were
busy enjoying school life to the fullest.
It’s time to get your head out of the sand.
2. Start The Job Search Before You Graduate
Job hunting is a complicated thing and there is no
almighty formula for you to acquire a job. Job seeking
is not something you can “cram” for and pour out
everything during an exam. There are no cheat notes
for post-graduation experience.
The job hunting business is an on-the-training
experience and the best way to get ahead of your
colleagues is to start your career exploration during
your service year or better yet during your university
days.
You can research branches of your field, do
internships (industrial trainings), find out what size of
company is for you, and practice job searching
techniques.
Put these tips in play and by the time you’re done with
service, you’ll be prepared for the next phase of your
life and it will be quite tricky for reality to hit you with
tons of bricks.
3. Facebook Is Forever
Not just facebook, but twitter, instagram, and every
other social network that you decide to be a part of.
What does this mean to an average student? Well it
means that every obscure joke you post on Facebook,
every explicit picture you share, every inappropriate
comment will be visible to the world when you become
famous or when you go job hunting.
At the very least, know how to manipulate your social
media privacy settings and restrain yourself from
littering your social media accounts with unfitting
content.
Being appropriate on the web is just as important for
a political career as it is for finding employment. Your
binge drinking photos might be funny now but they
won’t be so hilarious in five years time.
4. Life Is Expensive
You are probably surviving on the allowance you
receive from your parents right now and you’ve
realized that life can be expensive, EXPENSIVE.
Just wait until you have to live on your own, probably
during service year or when you get your first job.
By the time you pay for house rents, transportation
fare, recharge cards, light bills, water bills, food,
utilities, and every miscellaneous expense. It won’t
take long before you realize that life is expensive.
Everything would suddenly become so expensive that
you would sometimes feel like crying.
This is one of the most painful things to learn.
EVERYTHING costs money.
Anytime from now, you should learn how to create a
budget for yourself. Otherwise your rent will be due,
your kitchen will be empty and you will be busy
dodging from the people you owe money.
5. Never Be Scared To Take Chances
This is probably the most important lesson you have
to learn before you graduate, never be scared to take
chances. You’ll never get anywhere you want if you
don’t take calculated risks every now and then.
No one is telling you to jump out of a plane or go
swimming with crocodiles (which would be awesome if
you survive), but nothing in life comes easy. Yes, it is
cliché, but it the hard truth. After all, nothing can
deputise experience.
When you become a graduate, the best option is not
becoming a boring office robot whose life revolves
around work.
Your twenties and thirties are the some of the best
years of your life, we kid you not.
Do not be afraid to face the real world with open
arms, explore opportunities, and take chances. You’ll
be surprised at what fate has in stock for you.
6. Learn How To Interact With People
Learning how to interact is a very valuable skill you
need to have in your belt. It is a “street smart” skill.
You could read a million books on how to interact with
people but the only way to develop your interaction
skill is to put it into practice constantly until it becomes
a part of you.
This skill will surely be tested each time you go for a
job interview. Heck! You even need this job more if
you are an entrepreneur.
Learn to greet people with a smile. Say “thank you,
please and I appreciate” whenever the situation
deems necessary. These small gestures go a long way
to make a huge difference. Don’t be so quick to
dismiss the power of appreciation and courtesy.
Make small talk, get to know anyone you have to spend
more than thirty minutes with, help them if you can.
Who knows? You might meet your own saviour.
Don’t know what to talk about? You could talk about
the TV shows you watch, the cool blogs you visit on the
net (don’t forget to mention giftedgreen.com), the
weather – hint hint : ).
Learn to be always positive, make sure people smile
after talking to you.
7. A Skill Will Get You Farther Than A
Certificate
What we recommend is that you pick up as many skills
as possible, as long as you have a passion for it. Do
not say “I am studying English Language, why do I
need to learn HTML?” If you are computer major, take
a couple of management trainings. It will help you in
the long run.
The skills you acquire do not necessarily have to be
educational; you could learn tailoring, baking,
programming, carpentry . . . anything. You never know
when your minor skill will become your added
advantage, or your primary source of income.
Not only that, you will be able to converse with a larger
variety of different people, plus it shows your
employer that you are a fast and versatile learner.
8. Save Something – Anything
Start saving now and you’ll be setting the foundation
of your financial future.
There is always a need to save, even if it is the tiniest
bit each month. Like we said earlier, life is expensive
and the best way to be prepared is for you start saving
right now.
Whether it’s for a big purchase, an emergency or for
your future it’s important to have a little money for fall
back to during rainy days. Trust us, those days will
come.
9. You Are Going To Need Lots Of Hardwork
You are now a graduate, you no longer need to read
through the night, attend boring lectures and write
difficult examinations. Your life should be an easy pie
from here. Right? Wrong.
In fact, this is the time that you need to work harder
than you imagined, if you want to be successful.
Although you could relax; get a federal government
appointment, and retire on your pension. This is
perfect, if you want to be mediocre.
We are you are among those that want to be
successful. In order to do that, you are going to need a
lot of brain work, stay up late at nights and lots of
reading if you are going to be among the 1%.
Even if your father is a billionaire, it’s a lot of hard work
maintaining all that money.
10.Success Takes Time
After applying all these, do not expect to become a
millionaire overnight, or in a week or in a month.
Success takes time.
No matter the amount of hard work, Success takes
time.
If you are in a hurry to be successful, you will either
fall prey to money swindlers or get yourself entangled
in something highly illegal. Neither of them sounds

Ways To Manage Your Finances As A PAAU Student (A MUST READ)

Most times, it is not that the money we are given is not
enough but lack of financial management poses the
greatest challenge, here is an outline of 5 major ways
to manage your finance as a PAAU student.

 1. Have a Monthly
Budget
This is very important in
managing your finances. If
you set yourself an
allocated amount to spend
each month, then you will
be able to track how much
you are spending per year.
This will help you to plan
how much money you need
to live and will enable you
to find out if you can keep
to this monthly budget. The
best part is that if you
under spend per month than your fixed budget allows
you to, then you will be saving money for you to use
elsewhere!
2. Keep Emergency money
Having Emergency money is a highly rated tip which
we recommend. It’s always good to have emergency
cash which is not part of your budget. This way, if you
ever have any issues or emergency situations, then
you have that allocated amount to help you through
your situation. On the other hand, you would be
saving this allocated amount if you don’t spend it!
3. Have a Student Bank Account
Student bank accounts are a great way of managing
your student finances. Your overdraft is there to help
you manage how much extra money you may need in
an emergency situation. The actual account is great to
see how much you are spending as you can go into
your bank to get a statement of how much you have
spent. From this statement, you can see if you are
spending too much money.
4. Write Down Your Costs
Writing down your costs is a great way of tracking your
finances. Simply writing down how much you have
spent will enable you to work out if you are spending
too much money.
5. Review Your Bank Statements
Reviewing your bank statements every week will
enable you to work out how much you are spending
per month. This then allows you to decide on whether
you want to increase your spending or whether you
want to decrease your spending. Either way, this will
help you manage your finances properly.

HOW TO COPE WITH ACADEMIC STRESS AS AN UNDERGRADUATE

College, obviously requires significantly more effort
from students than high school. Once you enter
college, you will probably find that your fellow
students are more motivated, your instructors are
more demanding, the work is more difficult, and you
are expected to be more independent. These higher
academic standards and expectations are even more
evident in graduate school. As a result of these new
demands, it is common for college students to
experience greater levels of stress related to
academics.
Many students find that they need to develop new
skills in order to balance academic demands with a
healthy lifestyle. Fortunately, the University of
Michigan offers many resources to help students
develop these skills. Many students find that they can
reduce their level of academic stress by improving
skills such as time management, stress management,
and relaxation.
Whether it’s your parents pushing you to boost your
GPA, teachers criticizing you for a less-than-stellar test
scores, or your own drive to get in to your first-choice
college — or some combination of the three —
academic pressure can get the best of you if you don’t
learn how to deal with it properly.

The Pros and Cons of Stress
Stress is anything that alters your natural balance.
When stress is present, your body and your mind must
attend to it in order to return you to balance. Your
body reacts to stress by releasing hormones that help
you cope with the situation. That in turn takes energy
away from the other functions of your brain, like
concentrating, or taking action. There are two
different sources of stress: external triggers, like
getting a poor grade or breaking up with your
girlfriend/boyfriend, and internal triggers, like placing
high expectations on yourself. We are stressed from
academics while trying to meet up with academic
demands, our parents/guardians, multiple
assignments, and exams. Stress is bad for our health
and brains, this why we have less productivity when
we are stressed.
Hence, we did be sharing few tips with you on “HOW
TO PREVENT STRESS, AN INTERVIEW WITH
A psychotherapist who has helped countless teens
cope with school stresses, about her best tips for
managing academic anxiety. Scroll down for five
helpful ways to get through your high school years
with less stress.
1. Take time for self-care.
He emphasizes that you have to start with the basics,
like sleep. “You have to give your organism the means
to cope with stress, and that includes healthy food,
non-harmful substances, sleep (dramatically more
than most kids think they need), down time… Building
into your day right-brain activity that lets you digest
what you’ve been going through and process it. Those
are some basic and almost biological needs we have.”
Taking time to pause from the relentless pace of
everyday life and enjoy creative activities that keep you
from dwelling on or stressing over school pressures
can go far in decreasing your stress levels.
2. Learn to change your thinking.
“You cannot get stressed out unless you believe your
thoughts,” says Stiffelman. “All stress is precipitated by
stressful thinking.”
When you start stressing about not finishing your
project on time, your mind builds a case for why what
you believe is going to happen will happen — and this
can be paralyzing. So, when combating negative
thinking patterns, he recommends coming up with
specific examples to counter the stressful thoughts.
Think instead of concrete ways that you can create the
time to work on a project, and how your previous line
of thinking isn’t accurate.
3. Take assignments one baby step at a time.
He however, advises her young clients to chunk their
work down into manageable, bite-sized portions that
feel less overwhelming than looking at the big picture.
If you have an essay to write that’s making you feel
anxious, list the individual steps that lead to the
destination of the essay being finished (finding
sources, creating an outline, writing an intro), and the
task will begin to feel less daunting.
“List what you have going on, and list how much time
each thing is going to take,” she suggests. “Chunking
things down makes them feel more manageable and
less anxiety-inducing.”
4. Lower your goals.
No, we’re not talking about being a slacker. According
to Stiffelman, following the truism “Lower your goals,
you’ll achieve more,” can help to relieve
stress and boost academic success.
Instead of setting your goal to be getting the highest
grade in the class, set a goal to feel satisfied with your
performance.
5. Stay balanced during exam periods.
The importance of taking breaks and working in time
to relax during your busiest and most stressful
periods can’t be overestimated, Stiffelman urges. Not
matter how hard you push yourself, nobody can
maintain constant focus, and you will burn yourself
out if you try. Take frequent, short breaks for fun
activities so that you’ll be able to go back to your
writing or studying refreshed.
“Do something that, even for 15 minutes, brings you
back to yourself,” says Stiffelman. “I’ll often say, ‘What
did you love to do when you were six years old?’ Do a
little bit of that when you’re in prep mode to
counterbalance the stress — no brain can work for 24
hours.”
Tell us: How do you cope with pressure at school? Do
you think schools have a responsibility to help their
students manage stress?

How to overcome inferiority complex

We all fall in the trap of comparison wherein we
inevitably compare ourselves with others. This
comparison does more harm to us than good. This
does not mean we stop looking up to others. But there
is a difference between learning from others and
simply comparing yourself with them and then feeling,
‘Oh! Wish I was like her!’
This comparison is the main cause of inferiority
complex. We compare ourselves with our neighbors,
colleagues, batch mates, celebrities, siblings and with
strangers too!
It happened with me several times that often while
traveling I spotted fashionable women around. I
looked at their dresses, their style and matching
accessories and then glanced at my attire which was
usually a comfy, simple dress. In the name of
accessories, I generally wore a wrist watch and my
make up comprised of a light color lipstick. That’s all.
So each time I came across a hip girl on street, I was
ready to sulk and to term myself a ‘dodo’. But this was
long ago.
Over time, with some self conscious efforts and with
company of some wise, supportive friends, I have
overcome my inferiority complex of not being able to
dress up in style. Also I realized that beauty lies in
simplicity. In the process, I have learnt several lessons
and am ready to share them here.

 Determine your specific inferiority
It is better to be specific than generally feeling low.
Narrow it down to a specific type first. Do you feel
inferior to rich people, educated people, good looking
people, famous people? First find out your category of
inferiority. I had the weird complex with people who
had a trendy, contemporary dressing style!
Once you are done with finding your category, lean it
further with names. List down the names of people. I
felt inferior with particularly two friends of mine. So
come up with the names. Once you have the names,
you need to know why you feel inferior to them. Do
they make you feel low? If yes, dump them right now
and move on. If no, then ask yourself ‘who says I am
not as good as that Xyz’? You have the answer and that
is the solution.
Your Thinking Matters
Eleanor Roosevelt said, ‘no one can make you feel
inferior without your permission’ and she said it so
right. It is us who feel inferior and if we change our
thinking, every thing about us changes.
There is a difference in being inferior and feeling
inferior. Being inferior is simply a game of relativity.
But not everyone feels inferior.
If we lay more emphasis on what others think about
us, we attract more problems in life. This is our life
and only our opinion should matter. Finding faults in
ourselves based on whether others find us good
enough or not is not going to help anybody. It
becomes dangerous when we may actually be better
than others but somehow feel worse than them.
Chuck that habit of taking others’ judgements about
you seriously and then feeling low.
Love Thyself
The one thumb rule for a happy life is learning to love
oneself. I am totally in love myself so much so that
many of my friends call me a narcissist. No doubt,
earlier I was not too confident of my dressing sense
but slowly, I overcame that guilt as well. And now, I
love myself just the way I am.
We would never even find the need of comparing
ourselves with others if we are satisfied with our ‘self’.
Loving oneself is the first step to achieve confidence
and that sets the path for high self esteem.
Stop wanting to be some one else. Just be yourself
and create your own identity. Someone probably
sometime told you that you were not good enough
and you have been carrying that luggage even today!
Drop it right now. I threw it off and I am much lighter
and better and happier.
Seek Positive Company
It is very important to be in company of people who
are very positive in nature. If you are surrounded by
people who spend half of their time in analyzing
others and judging them, probably you would get
influenced too.
Be with people who like others the way they are. Seek
positive company. In a good company and with people
who gladly accept you as you are, you would grow up
to be more confident of yourselves.
Finally, again, your confidence should not depend on
others. It should exude from within.
In the end, I would like to quote the following lines:
Do what thy manhood bids thee do, from none but
self expect applause;
He noblest lives and noblest dies who makes and
keeps his self-made laws.

Kogi State Governor 'Yahaya Bello' Renames State University After Late Abubakar Audu

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi on Friday renamed the Kogi State University, Ayangba, after the late first civilian governor of the state, Abubakar Audu. Bello announced the change in the name of the 15- year-old university during a statewide broadcast to mark his victory at the state governorship election petition tribunal. He said that naming the university was the ultimate honor that could be done to the memory of the late colorful politician who ruled the state twice as the civilian governor from 1991 to 1993 and 1999 to 2003. Audu himself established the university in 2001 and named it Prince Abubakar Audu University but his successor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris changed the name to Kogi State University in 2004. Justifying his decision to restore the university to its original name, Bello said that Audu laid a solid foundation for the growth and development of the state
“Today, and as always, I celebrate the life and times of Prince Abubakar Audu, the first Executive Governor of Kogi State. It is our hope that those who want to lay claim to his legacy will at least develop the same heart for the growth and development of Kogi State that he demonstrated through his lifetime,” he said. According to the governor, an executive bill will soon be forwarded to the house of assembly to formalise the change in the name of the university. Audu, who was the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 21st 2015 governorship election in the state, died suddenly on November 22nd before the result of the election was announced. The leadership of the APC consequently substituted the name of Audu with that of Yahaya Bello as the candidate in the supplementary governorship election held on December 5th 2015.
The governor also used the broadcast to thank the people of the state for their support and understanding since his assumption of office in January . He said that since the five petitions filed against him had been thrown out for lack of merit, the state was now set to witness a new direction and accelerated development. According to Bello, a blueprint of the administration which will kick start creation of one million jobs for the unemployed youths will be unveiled by next week. He called on all those who lost at the tribunal, irrespective of their political affiliation, to join hands with him to develop the state, saying “there was no victor, no vanquish”.

BEYOND KSU : We Won't Conduct Post UTME Since We Have Been Directed Not To Do So - OAU PRO

A statement which was purported to have emanated from the Public Relations Officer of Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-ife (OAU), Olanrewaju Abiodun has is that the institution in line with the Federal government's directive will not be conducting Post-UTME for candidates seeking admission into the institution this year.

According to the statement credited to the PRO,"OAU is owned by the federal government, so we will not conduct our own Post UTME since we have been directed not to do so"
However, how the institution intends to run the admission process for this year was not disclosed. I will advise you don't abandon your books yet to avoid unpleasant surprises.

BEYOND KSU : FUAM Shut Down By Management Following Cult Related Violence

The management of Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, has shut down the institution indefinitely. This followed cult related violence in the school which left 4 students dead in the early hours of yesterday.

According to the institution’s Information Officer, Mr Dzerka Fanafa, the decision to close down the school was taken in an emergency meeting of stake holders on Wednesday night in which it was unanimously agreed that students leave the hostels before noon on Thursday to avoid escalation of the crisis.
Fanafa said the university Senate was expected to meet later on Thursday to ratify the decision taken at the meeting.

KSU Boy and Gal Palava ; 6 (kinda) strange boyfriend behaviors explained

1. He shows his vulnerability.
Many guys think women are looking for the kind of dude
who exudes strength and confidence minus the macho bit.
So that’s the kind of persona he likely tried to cultivate when
he was pursuing you. Once he’s accomplished that, he may
let his softer side emerge. ”Most men want to appear
strong and in control, but behind that facade, they want to
be nurtured,” says Henry Cloud, PhD, author of How to Get
a Date Worth Keeping. So once he feels that love
connection with you, you’re the one he’ll look to when he
needs comforting. If you play your cards right during your
guy’s time of need, he’ll get into the habit of letting down his
emotional guard and opening up to you more often. And
what girl doesn’t want an emotionally available man? So just
listen, try to empathize with him and offer your support.
“By positively reinforcing his vulnerable behavior, you’re
encouraging him to be that way with you,” says Los Angeles-
based psychologist Yvonne Thomas. But beware of the
“mommy” trap. “He wants understanding, not babying,”
says Cloud. And make sure you don’t let these heart-to-
hearts become a one-way street. It’s important for you to
turn to him when you need comforting as well. Says
Thomas: “Being vulnerable with each other can help make
the relationship stronger.”

 2. He takes fights to the finish.
Despite their penchant for body-crushing sports and blood-
and-guts action flicks, guys tend to shy away from
confrontations with chicks. “Many men feel overwhelmed
fighting with their partners,” says Don Ferguson, PhD,
author of Reptiles in Love. ”They are not as comfortable
expressing their emotions as they perceive women to be
and, therefore, try to avoid contentious situations.” So if
your man steps outside his comfort zone to duke it out with
you (verbally, of course), it’s a pretty sure sign that he’s in
this twosome for the long term. “A man who is willing to
stand up to you and assert himself intends to be around
awhile,” says Ferguson. “If he wasn’t that interested, he’d
play the compliant card.” Granted, arguing may not be your
idea of fun, but it can actually bring you and your man
closer. “Couples build intimacy through conflict,” says
Ferguson. “It’s how they deepen their knowledge of each
other.” The trick is knowing how to fight fair. It’s not about
name-calling, blaming or even winning. “When you are
fighting for things that are important and to resolve a
problem, you’ll both end up more satisfied in the
relationship,” says Cloud.
3. He guards his guy habits.
Men are fiercely protective of their buddy time. But when a
guy is in hot pursuit, sex trumps the boys, and he’ll be
available for the woman he’s with pretty much any time she
wants him. That explains why you and your man spent so
much together time early on in the relationship. But once
that love bond is formed, they feel the need to balance out
their social life and reclaim playtime with their buds
again. So it makes sense that once your guy realizes he’s
hooked on you, he’ll try to carve out more male-bonding
opportunities. It doesn’t mean he’s cutting you loose; it’s
just his way of overcompensating for falling so hard. “His
fears about losing his independence may lead to his need to
assert his autonomy so he can prove to himself — and to
you — that love hasn’t taken away his freedom,” says
Deborah Anapol, PhD, author of The Seven Natural Laws of
Love. The best way to deal with these new interruptions in
your 24/7 together time is to give him some slack. Matt,* 31,
can vouch for that. “I really love being with my girlfriend,
Jenny, but when it initially dawned on me that I had been
spending all of my time with her, I kind of freaked,” he
recalls. “My previous girlfriends always gave me a hard time
when I wanted to be with just my friends. But the first time
I decided to go out of town with the guys, she told me she
was glad because it gave her a chance to see her own
friends. Knowing she had plenty going on in her life without
me was a relief.” Jenny’s one smart cookie. By sending the
message that she wasn’t going to crumble without him,
Matt didn’t feel trapped and desperate to get in his guy
time. “It’s important to allow him his space and to take your
own and trust that it will even out,” says Anapol. “The best
thing you can do when your guy pulls back is to take your
attention off him and keep it on yourself.”
4. He stops talking as much.
You already know that guys aren’t big on emoting. So when
you start dating a dude who’s willing to talk to you for hours
on end, sharing all the juicy details of his life, you probably
feel like you’ve snagged a rare gem. That is, until you’re an
actual couple and he adopts a monosyllabic conversation
MO. It’s understandable that you’d feel like he’s shutting
you out, but he’s letting you know (not deliberately) that
he’s content and comfortable with you. “If your formerly
verbal guy becomes close-mouthed, it means that he feels
so relaxed with you, he doesn’t need to impress you
anymore,” explains Thomas. “Once there’s a real
connection, you can be together without talking. It’s a
deeper form of intimacy because you’re being more
genuine with each other.”
5. He wants less sex.
It’s pretty hard to top that high you get during the lust-
fueled beginning of a relationship. So when that inevitably
cools off a bit, it can be soul-crushing. But his downshifted
libido doesn’t necessarily signal that he’s no longer into you.
“A decrease in sex can often mean that a couple is
connecting in other ways, so they’re not as driven by lust,”
says Cloud. It can also mean that he knows there will be
plenty of time for fooling around, so he doesn’t feel
desperate to get it on with you whenever you hit the
sack. That’s what Lucy, 28, discovered. “In the beginning,
Peter and I had tons of amazing sex,” she recalls. “So after a
while, when he’d occasionally spend the night and just go to
sleep, I got worried. One night, when we got home late
from a party and he didn’t want to get it on, I called him on
it. He looked at me like I was crazy, then explained that he
was simply tired — no big deal.” Ironically, less sex may
actually be good for your relationship. “As your partner
grows to care about you more, he starts sharing other parts
of himself, such as his mind and heart, rather than just his
body,” says Thomas. “That’s the difference between lust and
love.”
6. He shows his kinky side.
As you and your guy get closer, you may not be having as
much sex, but you can definitely have much better sex.
Translation: A deeper connection means carnal quality over
quantity. And more creativity. That’s because when your
man feels tight with you, he’ll be more inclined to suggest
some kinkier bedroom activities, because he’s not worried
that you’ll bolt or think he’s a perv. “He trusts you and feels
safe enough to reveal things without worrying about your
judging or rejecting him,” says Thomas. So don’t judge or
reject him when he does bring up some new erotic ideas.
Of course, you don’t have to indulge him either. But be
gentle when you turn him down. Simply saying something
like, “That just doesn’t turn me on” should suffice. Then you
can counter his suggestion with one of your own. It will
help ease any discomfort he might feel about being shot
down, and you will probably get what you want in bed as
well. Even if you don’t turn him down, communicating your
desires will improve your lust life…and boost your bond.
“Sharing and experimenting with each other’s more private
fantasies can be powerfully intimate and strengthen your
relationship,” says Thomas. Hotter sex and a tighter
connection? It doesn’t get much better than that.

Do you sweat too much? You should see this

Excessive Sweating (Hyperhidrosis)
What Is Hyperhidrosis?
Hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating, is a common
disorder which produces a lot of unhappiness. An
estimated 2-3% of Americans suffer from excessive
sweating of the underarms (axillary hyperhidrosis) or of
the palms and soles of the feet (palmoplantar
hyperhidrosis). Underarm problems tend to start in late
adolescence, while palm and sole sweating often begins
earlier, around the age 13 (on the average). Untreated,
these problems may continue throughout life.

Sweating is embarrassing, it stains clothes, ruins
romance, and complicates business and social
interactions. Severe cases can have serious practical
consequences as well, making it hard for people who
suffer from it to hold a pen, grip a car steering wheel, or
shake hands.
What Causes Hyperhidrosis?
Although neurologic, endocrine, infectious, and other
systemic diseases can sometimes cause hyperhidrosis,
most cases occur in people who are otherwise healthy.
Heat and emotions may trigger hyperhidrosis in some,
but many who suffer from hyperhidrosis sweat nearly
all their waking hours, regardless of their mood or the
weather.
What is the Treatment for Hyperhidrosis?
Through a systematic evaluation of causes and triggers
of hyperhidrosis, followed by a judicious, stepwise
approach to treatment, many people with this annoying
disorder can sometimes achieve good results and
improved quality of life.
The approach to treating excessive sweating generally
proceeds as follows:
Over-the-counter antiperspirants containing a low dose
of metal salt (usually aluminum) are usually tried first
because they are readily available. Antiperspirants
containing aluminum chloride (for example Certain Dri)
may be more effective when other antiperspirants have
failed.
Prescription strength antiperspirants, which
contain aluminum chloride hexahydrate.
Iontophoresis, a device which passes ionized tap
water through the skin using direct electricity.
Oral medications, Anticholinergics reduce
sweating.
Botox (botulinum toxin)-A, has been approved in
the U.S. by the FDA for treating excessive axillary
(underarm) sweating.
Surgery. A procedure called thoracic
sympathectomy may be considered as a last
resort.
Aluminum Chloride Hexahydrate and Excessive
Sweating
When regular antiperspirants fail to treat excessive
sweating, most doctors start by recommending
aluminum chloride hexahydrate (Drysol), a
prescription-strength version of aluminum
chloride. It is applied just before bedtime 2 to 3
nights in a row, then roughly once a week
thereafter to maintain improvement. Use as
directed by your doctor. This treatment works
reasonably well for many patients whose problem
is excessive underarm sweating, but it is not
satisfactory for most of those with palm and sole
sweating.
The main side effect of Drysol is irritation, which can
sometimes, but not always, be overcome by making sure
the skin is dry before application and letting the
medicine dry completely afterwards. Also, reducing the
frequency of use or applying anti-inflammatory drugs,
such as lotions containing a corticosteroid may help.
