Its a lovely wednesday and people are scrambling up and down for one thing or the other all around school,especially those new bees out there,una go chop dust en. Anyways,#teamksu2day has decided to dedicate this whole week to aspirants and freshers since that's what's up in school at the moment. So a lilttle write to for ye freshers so you can understand what's up...
WHY YOU MUST NOT PLAY WITH YOUR FIRST YEAR IN THE SCHOOL
If the foundation of a building is weak, that building is bound to collapse. I just thought of telling you this now before its too late becuse you're already in the academinc race. Your first yr performance determine the kind of result you may graduate with. University grades are expressed in the following term;
First class (1)
Second class upper (2one)
Second class lower(2two)
3rd class Certificate of attendance White paper The afore mention grades are attainable by students depending on individual aspiration. Dont let anybody decieve you that you cant make first class. Many have made it and even been retained as lecturers in KSU. Your journey to any of these grades start from 100level. If you must make first class, your first semester 100level result matters because it is the base result. Other subsequent result will be devided by that one. Calculation of gp differs in different departments so I dont have to tell you how is done in my dept so that it wont misslead you. Hard work and prayers are the watchword for better grades. If you dont wanna get frustrated in the school then you had better belt up for the journey. The hard way is the only way. Reading, reading and reading is the key.
STEPS THAT MAY HELP YOU
You must not play with your attendance and assigment because without CA, only God know how you can pass the course. Read ahead of your lecturers. Get materials from your predecessors and photocopy centers for GST courses. Buy as many text books as you can. In attempting questions in the uni, scholars point of view on the subject matter matters. So learn to quote authors and scholars. Mingle with people you think are better than you in the class. Dont hesitate to ask questions in the class. Tutorials can also help you. Read, read, and read then pray for your first class is sure. See you soon! We got a report that results of some certain students have been blocked. The reason behind this development is because this students were accused of examination mis conduct and were old to appear before the senate at a designated time which they didn't. The senate after conducting a meeting decided to block the results of this students. The faculties involved are social science,agriculture and management....OH MY!!

Why You Must Finish With At Least A 2.1 (Second Class Upper) SHARE THIS

This piece is for those undergraduates that will like to seek for jobs after school but do not have solid connection. A 1st class or 2.1 will help you AVOID or ALLEVIATE the labour market frustration. Nevertheless, the ones that have influential parents, uncles and aunts can also take a cue from it because it is easier to help someone with a good result. I am a recent graduate from a Nigerian Federal University. I finished with a strong 2.1 but I wish I made a 1st class. I would have made that First class if I were very hard working. I know many people are like me, they would have had better grades if they were more serious. What I’m saying in essence is that most of us are powerful beyond measures but we do not realize how powerful we could be. Finishing with a 2.1 is just about having 3.5 out of total 5.0 CGPA. One can achieve this by mixing Bs with Cs in your courses. I had many friends that didn’t have solid academic background, weren’t very quick at learning but struggled to finish with 3.5, 3.6 after a lot of hard work. Not to talk of many of you that are sharp, it’s just that you are too lazy. I was also a lazy brat but that’s bygone because I’ve learnt my lessons. As a result of the very high rate of unemployment in Nigeria, employers use all possible strategies to pre screen as many as possible applicants and the most popular is the class of degree. 9 out of every 10 Graduate Trainee adverts ask for a minimum of 2.1. The other thing they use in pre screening is age and many also require to have a minimum of 5 credits including maths and english @ one sitting for O’level. Now let’s analyze it: By the time KPMG, Ernst & Young, PWC, Akintola Deloitte, Shell, Chevron, Exxon Mobil, Total, Schlumberger, Diamond Bank, GTB, Zenith, First Bank, Nigerian Stock Exchange, P&G, Unilever, Honey well, Nestle, Cadbury, Guiness, Nigerian Breweries, Consolidated Breweries, PZ Cussons, etc all advertise graduate trainee positions and they all ask for a minimum of 2.1. How do you think someone that finished with a 2.2 will feel? I’m currently observing NYSC and I’ve been applying for jobs. Many of my fellow corps members always ask me to share latest job openings with them but many of them have not been able to apply for any because they finished with below 2.1. I hope we all have an idea how frustrating this could be, for you not to have the privilege to prove yourself even when you might be better and more employable than some of us that finished with 2.1 and 1st class. As I’m writing this piece, I have two friends that just got job offers from a reputable multinational company in Nigeria. Guess what? They are both still serving and will resume immediately after NYSC in October. You know what? One of them finished with a 1st class and the other with a strong 2.1. I know some of you will ask about me, I’m also at the last stage of interview and I have reached some recruitment stages in other good companies. All I need is Almighty God’s favour and your prayers can also help land a job offer in some days time *lol*. Many of us have been misled. We’ve been made to believe that even if you finish with good grades, you still won’t get a good job in Nigeria if you don’t have connection. For those that will listen, I can confidently tell you that we still have Firms that act with INTEGRITY in Nigeria, Organizations that will hire you based on your abilities, Companies that will not compromise standards, Employers that will give you an offer without knowing even a gate man. Many Multinationals in Nigeria fall in that category. At least, I know of Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler (KPMG) and Procter & Gamble(P&G). We have many others but those are the two I’ve had comprehensive experience with. Finishing with a 2.1 is very easy only if one can put in the required effort and above all pray to God. For the atheists, just keep working hard, working smart and always have a destination. I know you will believe in God someday*lmao* In Conclusion, one of the commonest things in life is seeing talented people that are unsuccessful. Many of us are gifted but we are just too lazy to make the best use of our potential. If Talent sleeps, Hard work will outshine Talent.

Step 3: Kindly Login with your Matric Number e.g 12MS1001 and use the word "password" as your inital password to logon to the portal
Step 4: You will be required to update the underlisted data:
1. Passport Upload (Red background)
2. Phone Number
3. Nationality
4. Religion
5. Date of Birth Note: Ensure to use a valid email Address and Phone Number. Frequently check this mail for updates and information from time to time
Step 5: After updating your information, a confirmation link will be sent to your email box provided. Logon to your E-mail and click on the account activation link.

I recently read this story about this awe inspiring grass to grace story about a 30 year man named Mr. Hillary Agbo-Odeh,who after completing a pre degree programme in benue state university in 2005,was offered physics instead of the course he wanted which was medicine. Due to his lack of intrest in the course he had 17 carryovers by the time he reached 300 level and was placed on probation. He then withdrew from the school and wrote jamb again(this time he applied for psychology which he said was closer to medicine and surgery),fortunate for him he gained admission,and now he is a graduate,but not just a graduate,a first class graduate with 4.75 as his g.p,grabbing different awards with him for the best graduating student of the 14th and 15th combined convocation of BSU held on January 17. Wow!!...I know God is wonderful and all that but this guy just made God's work easier on his life with his guts,hardwork and passion. Congrats

First and most importantly please be informed that registration have started contrary to the wide spread of Rumor that the Academic Staff Union of the University has joined in the ongoing strike embarked upon by the entirety of Kogi State Civil Servants under the Aegis of Kogi Labour Congress for non payment of three and almost four months salary by the state Government. Therefore I urge you all to come to school for your registration expected to last for a period of two academic weeks as it is totally untrue that Necessary Authorities are not in place to attend to students. Secondly brothers and sisters, consequent upon the return to the previous mode of school fees payment until last year that E-payment was introduced I advise that you all pay in the Zenith Bank PLC nearest to your place of Resident to avoid heavy queue at the branch in the school. Still on this I sincerely sympathize with all of you that had to go through the tedious process today in school-- I sincerely appreciate all those concerned for their understanding and I pray God Almighty strengthen us all to overcome all further challenges in pursuit for knowledge. Our activities may not be too obvious but please be rest assured that Nakoss is not asleep and unaware of your challenges and pains and upon this we are seriously trying our best to ensure that your interests are protected as we are always open to receive complaints and most times observe them ourselves and take it up for solutions through the necessary and concerned stakeholders. To this effect you can tell your friends and acolytes who are yet to get their school fees paid if you have that as from tomorrow payment shall be made at Idachaba LT1 as from 8am and this is due to our cry to the management and the Bank Authority having seen how hectic it is for you all to stand under the scorching sun all in the name of paying school fees. I recently read this story about this awe inspiring grass to grace story about a 30 year man named Mr. Hillary Agbo-Odeh,who after completing a pre degree programme in benue state university in 2005,was offered physics instead of the course he wanted which was medicine. Due to his lack of intrest in the course he had 17 carryovers by the time he reached 300 level and was placed on probation. He then withdrew from the school and wrote jamb again(this time he applied for psychology which he said was closer to medicine and surgery),fortunate for him he gained admission,and now he is a graduate,but not just a graduate,a first class graduate with 4.75 as his g.p,grabbing different awards with him for the best graduating student of the 14th and 15th combined convocation of BSU held on January 17. Wow!!...I know God is wonderful and all that but this guy just made God's work easier on his life with his guts,hardwork and passion. Congrats

You have to start thinking!!
Let's make something clear,"students think".
Infact,students think a lot,about money,about drinks,about parties,about
the opposite sex and so on but most importantly students think about
their about lives after school,which is good,the bad about it is that
its majorly unrealistic thoughts like "hey,am finally in 100 level
studying economics in kogi state university,and I'll graduate in 4 years
time,then go and serve,probably do some phd and masters thingy then get
a job and the rest money". That's so unrealistic that its makes wwe
wrestling is more real. Its plain garbage thought you need to start
getting out of your head. This life isn't hollywood,and when you're born
into one hell of a country like Nigeria you need to wise up and start
thinking with your "brain".
If you can take your time and look outside your window to see millions
of graduates roaming about the streets you'll probably understand that
its not as easy as you think it is,if it was that easy your parents and
your friends parents and all parents in nigeria will be multi
billionaires,not needing to send you to school self.
Life isn't easy,and nigeria is making life even harder for nigerians,the
labour market is so choked up,it will take extra power for an angel to
pass through. There is hardship in every corner of the country and the
earlier you realise this things,the better for you.
So instead partying and smiling all around school why don't you sit
yourself down and not only think logically but also plan logically. This
topics might get you onto the right path:
- First and foremost you need to realise you only have one life to live,every circumstance you find yourself will most definitely come once,you don't go to primary school twice,well,except you're going there the second time to teach or something. My point is,in every situation you find yourself you have to try hard in making the best outta that situation,if you don't succeed its okay,atleast you tried.
- Ask yourself questions,like why are they few rich people in the country,what can I do to get there,what are my potentials,what are my weaknesses. You have tons of questions you should start asking yourself. - You need to start tasking yourself. Are too young to make money ?? I mean,they are loads of unemployed graduate out there who still depend on their parents. I know you don't want to belong in that category when you're done with school. You need to know what you have to do to make that money so you'll only have to depend on yourself alone. God has given you a talent,why don't you discover it and start using it to make money now. Their are tons of things you can do as an undergraduate that can cough out money for you,you just need to think and plan on how to strike a balance between your academics and what you're doing. Its not how petty the job is or how little you're earning. Its about knowing for a fact that you can do something to improve your situation. A lot of ond,hnd, bsc,phd holders out there(those certs are a common thing nowadays),some even have all those certs with them at the moment but have nothing to show for it because they failed to realise that school is not about learning on how to work for a boss,its also about how to develop yourself to being your own boss.
- You need to stop thinking about your future and know that the future you are thinking of is "NOW". You have to start thinking and planing logically from now on. - You need to start encouraging yourself to do things that'll make you big. Forget where you are now,it doesn't matter,its where you're going to be when its all said and done that matters. Forget the fact that you stay in dagana or you stay in one shady place around ksu,and your fellow mates stay in billionaires lodge or exquisite lodge(its probably not their money anyways),it doesn't matter,what matters is you formulating a plan that will change your situation when four years is done and dusted.

1. print out of your O’level Results Either Waec or Neco 1 or 2 Sittings,
2. Original copy of your Jamb result,
3.Post Utme Results.
4. Admission Letter from the School,
5.birth certificate or age Declaration,
6.certificate of State Of Origin.
7.Passport Photographs
8.Medical Report Which will be Conducted in the School 9.Secondary SchoolLeaving Certificate e.t.c best of luck guys....
If you don't get that pin thing on time go for your medicals,then screening after that,and hey,you shouldd submit ONLY PHOTOCOPIES of your documents during screening. When you are done with your screening start signing immediately(haha!!,the fun part of the semester,when all ye jambitos scramble around school like headless chickens)
