Orphaned at the age of 11, Mubarak knew he had to brace up and face life head-on. He was made to live with his Aunt and her husband who owned a small book publishing and distribution company, Acrodile Publishers.
While working with his adoptive parents, he discovered the difficulty they faced each day trying to reach more customers with the insufficient help of a webmaster who provided a poor service at a very high cost. Mubarak took the initiative to address this need; he began teaching himself how to build a website using online resources. The result of his work was very amazing. In a space of months, the teenager became a website pro. He then delivered a working e-commerce site for Acrodile Publishers

He told the Business Daily in an interview at Nation Centre, Nairobi.‘‘I cleared high school in 2011, two years earlier I had developed a passion for computers that saw me set up a website for my adoptive parents who were running a bookshop. ‘‘They needed an online platform to expand their venture,’

He knew that was the price he had to pay for his dream. Most people found the young man’s action difficult to comprehend, but not Chris Kirubi; the business mogul who recommended Mubarak for the scholarship.Mubarak’s entrepreneurial leanings were discovered at an early stage, when he began business at Kamusinga High School in Bungoma County. This drive intensified as he grew older, I guess that explains why he turned down what young men his age would call a very rare opportunity; a fully paid scholarship to the prestigious Harvard University in the US.
‘‘Mr Muyika is enterprising and focused, I recommended him to Havard University but noticed that entrepreneurship came first and he had no obligation to pursue the course. Nowadays one can learn in many ways, even Bill Gates did not complete his studies. He walked out and aggressively did serious business,’’Chris tells Business Daily in a phone interview.
In January 2012, Mubarak registered Hype Century Technologies and Investments Ltd, a company which deals in web-designing and domain registration. He soon incorporated two of his friends in the enterprise and within three months, the business became a highly profitable one.
‘We started very small, with Sh50, 000 which I had saved from a freelance job I had been doing as a student and after High School. My first client was so impressed that he offered me space in his office at Rehema House in Nairobi,’’  He recounts.
HypeCentury has continued to grow and become profitable, expanding services to include domain name registration, online marketing, and more. Mubarak’s vision for HypeCentury is to grow East Africa’s economy by leveraging the power of the internet. Isn’t it clear that the young man is striding on the right path?
‘‘We had three computers and in a good month I would pocket between Sh60, 000 and Sh80,000, which I used to pay my two part-time employees. Our services varied from domain registration to web hosting and designing ’’ He says. ‘‘Most of the new staff were university graduates, I was dealing with the best talent in the market,’’
The entrepreneur Mubarak Muyika is also an Anzisha prize fellow; he contested in 2012 and was awarded with Sh1.1 million.
Since then, several major business doors have been opening at will for the young business man. In December 2012, Mubarak hit a big one when he entered business with Indian investor Jignesh Patel who runs I-Code Ltd. Mr Patel acquired a 25 per cent stake in the company while Mubarak had 60. By the end of the year the company had more than 900 domains.
‘‘Patel had 25 per cent shares, Wakwoma five per cent, Doursey 10 per cent and I had 60 per cent. I retained the chief executive’s position but I had the feeling that I was not maximising my potential. I opted to sell my shares and develop a new venture,’’ Mubarak tells Business Daily.
Soon after that, Mubarak registered another firm, Zagace, an enterprise management platform that uses Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and web-hosting resources to create a basic forum for business systems and processes. He rented a two-bedroom house which acts as his office and has employed about 12 computer programmers. Mubarak is set to take the world and may never relent until he achieves his purpose.
He had the option of wallowing in self-pity with a badge on his chest that says; “I am a helpless orphan, can’t you see?” instead he took charge of his life and became a solution to other people’s needs. You too can take the world, but first, you need to take charge of your life and then step out in faith. You are stronger and more intelligent than you know.

Don’t worry. I’m just as guilty of this as anyone else. For example, I’ll start one project, work on it for a little bit, then lose focus and try something else. And then I’ll lose focus on my new goal and try something else. And on and on. When everything is said and done, I’ve stopped and started so many times that I never really made much progress.

1, NATURAL BRILLIANCE:
There is a minimum level of natural brilliance that is required before a student can think of First Class. I do not intend to put limit to one’s capabilities, for I believe like most people that impossible is nothing. However, realistically speaking, that is an exception to the rule. Most First Class students have a track record from lower levels of education. That is the first foundation.

2.The power of dream
Most first class students dream. I do not mean metaphysical dream, I mean the Luther King definition – vision, forward- looking, even though awake. In secondary school I had a friend who once looked up and said, ‘the last time someone made an aggregate 6 (i.e minimum of 6 A1’s in SSCE) in this school was 12 years ago, I want to be the next’. He made it. He didn’t make it, but he scored 296. When this friend of mine entered Ife, he went to his faculty’s board, where names of best students are engraved every year, looked up and said, ‘when I leave this school after five years I want my name written on this board’. He worked for it. He didn’t make it. But he not only came out with a CGPA north of 4.7 (of the possible 5.0) but he also emerged as one of his faculty’s best. After that, he told someone that he wanted to have his PhD without doing Master’s degree. 3. COMPETITION
What most people don’t know is that there is usually a subtle competition among best students in classes. The competition is not necessarily unhealthy. They may be –and in fact usually are – friends, but they compete. In my undergraduate days, story is told of a guy that, at the beginning of every semester, went to ask what X, the best student in the class immediately preceding his, scored in each course and he would tell those cared to listen to him that he would break the record and score higher than him. He did, most times. Most First Class students compete. Each wants to be the highest scorer in each subject. That is why it is always good to go to a competitive institution, rather than enjoy local championship status without stiff competition.
4. CALCULATION:
When you see some students reading a purely theoretical course and having calculator by the side, don’t think they are insane or doing ‘over-syllabus’. No they are just running the permutations – if I score B in this course, what will my CGPA be? What is the worst case scenario? What is the best case scenario? How many A’s do I need to make X-CGPA? etc. These are calculations that go on in their heads. Some don’t even compute their GP’s at the end of a semester, they have the template in their heads already, having done the permutations over and over again even before writing the examinations, and they just insert the course scores into their mental template.
5, OPTIMISTIC MENTALITY:
Some students die many times before their academic death. How can a student gain admission into a school and the first thing he hears is, you can never make a First Class, they wont give you. Well, I don’t believe this. This is what kills many students. How can you go to battle with a defeatist mentality and expect to win? Many First Class students defy these “messengers of doom” and pursue their target optimistically. I finished from the Obafemi Awolowo University and this is one thing I must commend students of the school for. You even hear of stories of students that had graduated since the 1970s. These are stories that motivate you, not some tale by moonlight about a sadist lecturer denying you First class. Academic environment also helps. In a school where you spend most of your time queuing for water or transport or forced to read with candle, chances of academic success are very low. What's up is back,after almost a week of absense.

The past dys has seen so many happenings around ksu.

First off; the different rumors here and there about the second list,when in actuality its just an update of the first list,nothing like the batch B or second list or second batch or wahever ksu aspirants call it. For now though,wether their will be a second list or not its left to be seen,my advice to aspirants is to get a jamb form and prepare for jamb exams,,keep your fingers crossed,keep hoping and keep praying.

 Also,the sad sde news of the passing away of our beloved lecturer,Dr Rufus Adeleye of geography and planning. I think "gone so soon" is right, owing to the fact that this new crop of geo planning in 100l won't get the chance to feel his charm. Such a shame really. R.I.P sir...rest well in the upper "enfiroment".

For returning students lectures has started so start resuming,meanwhile for aspirants waiting for admission,ksu is a very ruthless institution,don't be suprised some people will gain admission some weeks before exams.

 A 70-year-old man, recently graduated from the Virginia Commonwealth University in the United States.

Tap Van Kieu shared a photo of himself during his ceremony, holding a sign that details timeline of his major life events — including getting married, becoming a father and even a grandfather before realizing the dream of earning a degree.
Kieu’s daughter, Mary Kieu told Huffington Post, in an interview that fled Vietnam in 1975 during the fall of Saigon, with his wife, Kim, and their three young children.

“He’s never been the kind of guy who could be idle for more than an afternoon,” she said, explaining how her father worked odd jobs all his life to provide for his family

“I would describe dad’s story as one of so many other immigrants who are lucky enough to call this wonderful country home,” Mary said. “Work hard, believe in yourself, never give up, and even at the ripe age of 70, you can reach your goal.“

1. Spoken english
It is so sad that majority of Nigerian students in tertiary institutions don’t bother about polishing their spoken and written english. Some graduates speak english worse than a toddler, making one wonder what they spent 16yrs doing in school. You hear them spew gabbage like “he come and slap me and I come and beat him”. If you speak such english to an interviewer, even with first class clearly written on your CV, he will probably think you runzed your way through school. The use of words like yeah, goddamn, omo, sh*t, f**k etc should be stopped cos they don’t portray you as a decent person.
2. Mode of dressing
Looking fly on campus is one of the things undergraduate enjoys. It was fun cos you had so much of the opposite sex around to admire you. The moment you graduate,your orientation should change. Not that a graduate should stop wearing denims and sneakers, but sagging and putting on studs with crazy hairstyle should come to a stop if such a person wants to fit into the corporate world. In the corporate world, you get to mingle with matured or married men with enough decency. Sagging in their midst will make you look kiddo. Just cos your favourite musician davido sags his trousers doesn’t mean you should do thesame. He gets paid to do that while you could get fired for doing the same

3. Spendthrift Attitude
The first time I heard someone say his salary is 70k, I hissed and mocked him in my mind cos that was thesame amount we students spent on phones just to oppress each other. Now I’ve seen people earning less than 45k even with years of experience. What kind of person do you think you’ll turn out to be when all you want is the latest expensive gadgets? In the real world, no one cares about the kind of phone you use. Even on naija campus these days, girls have stopped falling for a guy because of the phone he uses, they now trip for flashy cars. So, before you spend that huge amount on a phone, ask yourself this question: “is it going to improve my standard of living?”. I didn’t know I could turn my smart phone to a mini laptop with WPS, Excel etc until I got employed. My phone was all about bbm, whatsapp and facebook. I now saw the full potential of the phone. You need to cut down on your spendings. Also, get the idea of clubbing off your mind or it might ruin your pockets. The money saved from disciplining yourself can be used to start something great. Use your head.
4. Laziness
You remember how you use to complain about the large notebooks you have to read for exams? If you lack a good reading culture, it is certain you will be bereft of ideas to contribute to a company’s growth. You are always seen reading gossip blogs where you are updated with the lifestyle of celebrities but lack the idea of what the top 20 questions interviewers ask. Scaling through campus days as a lazy person doesn’t mean such is likely to continue in the real world. Carrying on with laziness is what leads to prostitution, where a lady feels she can use her body to fetch her daily bread instead of her brain, or where a guy still expects his uncle to be the one to help him achieve his targets even after getting him a job through nepotism. You get to wonder why they spent 16yrs developing their brain in school.

 I’ve now realise that 350k is only feasible for those in the oil sector and those with huge years of experience, not a fresh graduate who doesn’t know his left from his right. As you are about graduating, never see any job as demeaning. Take it up while you continue searching for a better one. This gives you experience. A bird in hand is better than a million in the bush. Remember, you are a nobody and no one gives a damn about you out there. So, drop your pride and use your head and hands or end up spending years still eating your mum’s food with insults.

While most people are strongly against cramming, it is sometimes necessary. While concepts should be studied and understood, sometimes you have to memorize facts, figures and formulas, and that is where the ability to memorize quickly and not forget comes in. The problem is that recalling something requires learning, and we all learn in different ways. Below are some universal steps to mastering the art of recalling so that you can start memorizing a ton of data in a short amount of time.
1. Prepare your Mind
First of you have to remove anything that can clutter your mind, free yourself of worries. Do not begin with liquor or anything that will impair your mind. Choose a place conducive to memorizing, usually a quiet place away from distractions and noise. There are also foods or drinks that help make the mind sharper, you can imbibe such. However, do so sparingly.

2. Recording

Most people especially auditory learners (this are people that learn and retain faster what they hear than others), can take advantage of  a recorder either using your smartphone or some other recording device to make a record of what you want to memorize. listening to yourself speaking will help you retain and remember better.

3. Write Everything Down
Before you start trying to recall everything from memory, write and re-write the information. This will help you become more familiar with what you’re trying to memorize. Doing this while listening to your tape recorder can also help you retain a lot of the data. This is most useful for experiential learners (People that learn through repeated experiences).
4. Section your notes.
Now that you have everything written down in one set of notes, separate them into sections. This is ideal for visual learners(people that learn better and faster through sight) especially if you use color coding to differentiate between subjects. This will help you break everything down and start compartmentalizing the information being recorded in your brain. So use markers or highlighters of different colors. It is quite a fun way to memorize.
5. Apply Repetition
They say practice makes perfect, however, what they mean is repetition makes perfect. For each line of text, repeat it a few times and try to recall it without looking. As you memorize each set of text, be cumulative by adding the new information to what you’ve just learned. This will keep everything within your short-term memory from fading. Keep doing this until you have memorized that section and you are able to recall the entire thing. Do not move on to another section until you have memorized that one completely. If you are recording also replay over and over. Replay, rewind, replay.
6. Write it down from memory
Now that you can recall entire sections, write everything down from memory. This will reinforce everything you just have just learned by applying it experientially. You can also recite what you have been playing from memory. Don’t be discouraged if you do not get it, keep trying.
7. Teach it to someone (or yourself)
The most effective method for me when I was in school was to teach the information to someone else. You can do this in a variety of ways. You can lecture the knowledge to someone sitting right in front of you (or the mirror, if you can’t convince anyone to sit through it) and explain everything extemporaneously. A teenage girl woke up during her brain surgery and reportedly asked the surgeons how they were doing

Iga Jasica, a 19 year old girl from Katowice, Poland, is making multinational headlines for the strange phenomenon, which occurred during her brain surgery.

Iga was on the surgical table and the doctors were trying to remove the deadly cancerous growth she had in her skull, when the girl woke up mid-surgery. The surgeons had just opened up her skull in order to remove the cancer, when somehow Iga managed to regain her consciousness. Fortunately, she wasn’t capable of feeling any pain, so she just asked the doctors how they were doing. The surgeons were extremely baffled by this phenomenon and Iga’s bravery during the surgery and they kept talking to the girl – mostly about cats, which she adores. When questioned by the media later, the medics suggested that she might have awoken from the anaesthesia thanks to a neuron in her brain, which must have been triggered during the surgery. They also admitted it was absolutely unusual for a sedated patient to wake up during a surgery, especially when their skull is still open.
When Iga was asked about her own point of view after the surgery, she explained that she couldn’t remember much from it, but that she was feeling great after the procedure.
