Habits of Highly Successful Students. LearnThem and Start Succeeding

You should never take the back seat in your life. Letting
someone else make life decisions for you could be very
harmful to your well being in general.
Your life passes you by slowly when you don't take control
of everything that concerns you which could affect your
relationship with others. Always remember it's your life and
no one else's.
Jodie Brownell of All Women Stalk lists 10 important
life decision every girl and woman should make to herself:

To live every moment to the absolute fullest!:
Hey girl, have you felt bored or sluggish lately? If so, it's
because you have not made the decision to live every
moment to the fullest! You only have so many days on
this earth, so make the effort to live the best life ever!
Even those days that seem endless can turn into the best
day of your life, but you have to be one to change your
outlook and mood! Don't wait for the perfect moment to
start living, NO, take the moment and make it the best
one ever!
. To allow herself room for improvement and
multiple chances!: Are you a perfectionist who needs
to get everything right the first time? Or do you tend to
crawl into a ball and cry of shame after you make a
mistake? If so, honey relax. You are human and bound to
make some mistakes here and now. So understand that
you are imperfect...but also how that is what makes you
perfect! You are a perfectly imperfect young woman, so
own that!
. To love her body, take good care of it & be
proud of it!: Your body is your dear temple, so take care
of it. Stop feeding it so much junk, stop shaming it with
negative self-image talk, just love it and it will take care of
you in return. Remember, your body is your body. No one
has the right to label it, restrict it, take advantage of it, etc.
So own who you are, and be proud!!
. To pursue her dreams & let nothing stand in
her way!: You know that little feeling you have that
wants to soar through life and accomplish your destiny?
If you do, listen to it and follow it! This feeling is your
passion and your calling to life. Don't wait any longer to
go after your dreams. You were born for a purpose and
now it's time to start living it out! Also don't let other's
small imagination and negative words keep you from
following your dreams. Just ignore them and find a new
support system!
. To say "Yes" to new opportunities that will help
her grow!: This goes hand in hand with following your
dreams. Have you found yourself hesitant to take risks
and say "yes" to new opportunities? If so, why? Are you
scared, too comfortable where you are, or think that you
don't deserve it? If so, let me remind you of three things:
First of all, everything you want in life is on the other side
of fear. 2nd, life is about going beyond your comfort
zone, for that is the only way you grow. Finally, you
deserve it, honey!...every inch of you deserves to live the
best life your could ever imagine!!
. To never underestimate her worth and never
settle for less than she deserves: You are worth
more than you could ever imagine, so never settle for less
than what you deserve! And this goes for everything; job,
relationships, and all!
. To have patience & love towards herself and
others: One of the best qualities a woman can have is
patience and love towards others and herself. You should
always have high standards, but that does not mean you
have the right to have a bad attitude. Remember the
saying; treat others the way you want to be treated, well
why not start living this way? What

Things High Achievers Don’t Do

High achievers have high ambitions; they live above
situations and never rest on their laurels. They are
deeply motivated and follow a set of habits that will
drive them to achievements. It is not about settling, it
is about going the extra mile to make a lasting
impression on everyone else. Here are ten things high
achievers don’t do.

They don’t
listen to
conventional
thinking
Most times
people may
not find this an
appealing
quality as they
find more
delight in approaching
problems through
unconventional paths.
They ignore popular advice
and channels and take the
ideal route that not only
appeals to them but
assures them of the
needed result.
They don’t associate
with underachievers
CEO of Facebook, Mark
Zuckerberg never fails to
thank his teammates for
the progress they make as a unit. In order to get more
done, achievers do not keep company with
underachievers. They understand that success is not
only in people but being with the right kind of people.
Connections to people of like-minds offer them the
needed growth to accomplish their pursuits.
They don’t swing with mediocrity
They commit themselves to excellence and follow
through on a goal. According to Vince Lombardi,
commitment to excellence is proportional to the
quality of one’s life. It is not about your area of
expertise, following the path of an achiever requires
consistency and an intolerance of mediocrity. Every
high achiever is not satisfied with a below par
performance because they know how impacting
excellence can be.They don’t wait for answers
While others will procrastinate, sit down and wait for
the moment to be right, achievers go at a goal even
when they may seemingly not be ready for the
success. They don’t wait for answers, they don’t sit
down to do nothing, but rather they get to work daily.
They are willing to brainstorm, troubleshoot and get
on with whatever will see an answer to a problem.
They don’t see success as being enough
While others are lulled after a particular success or a
certain accomplishment, the high achiever sees an
accomplishment only as a stepping stone to move to
the next climb. He knows that one success is not
enough to quench his taste for more success. High
achievers do not mind re-inventing or repositioning
themselves to make sure they reach the next success.
They don’t dwell on setbacks
Setbacks can be experienced every now and then. But
for the high achiever, failure and obstacle will only
trigger their desire to keep pushing. They see setbacks
as a part of the process of winning and accomplishing
something great.
They don’t clutter their lives
They know how to manage their lives to avoid
distractions and focused only on what is at hand. They
prioritize. They do not jump aimlessly from one
project to another. And if certain things are altering
their productivity, they terminate it and concentrate
on what will offer them the most obtainable results
now.
They don’t get bored
They pursue their passion, something that excites and
interests them. The challenge is always fun to them. It
spurs them and it is more like a religion to get their
desires attained. This drive will also inspire others to
flow in their direction and help them accomplish their
dreams.
They don’t wait for opportunities
Waiting for opportunities is like waiting for the rain to
pour. They don’t wait rather they make their own rain.
Counting and waiting for the right time, event and
everything to fall into place hinders the process of
getting what they want.
They don’t stay in bed late
Every high achiever wakes up early. They know a lot
can be done within those few hours before dawn.
Waking up early affords some productivity time to stay
ahead of competition. From media mogul Oprah
Winfrey, to CEO of Apple, they stay on top of their
game by waking up early.

Signs That A Leadership Mindset Is Inside YouThough You Don’t Know

“The most dangerous leadership myth is
that leaders are born – that there is a
genetic factor to leadership. That’s
nonsense; in fact, the opposite is true.
Leaders are made rather than born.” –
Warren Bennis
Great leaders share many common traits with you and
I. For one thing they are human! They have made
mistakes, failed, they have overcome disappointment,
heartache, tragedy and grief. No great leader has ever
been able to escape the roller coaster ride of life.
Becoming a great leader is
a work in progress. There
are a number of events
that occur in the life of a
leader where they were
required to act on specific
personal qualities or traits
that enabled them to lead
people to achieve
successful outcomes. I
believe that everybody has
within them the potential
to be a great leader.
Nelson Mandela is an
example of a person who
had a personal philosophy and mindset that enabled
him to become a great leader. He didn’t think he was
any one special however when placed in a situation
where he would be tested and isolated from life, his
personal philosophy became the mantra from which
he became a great leader.
You may not know it but you hold within you the
beliefs, attitudes and traits that are of leadership
quality. Here are 13 signs that you have within you the
mindset of a leader. If you “unleashed” your
leadership mindset, there is no doubt that you would
become the “great leader” you were born to be.

1. You Are A Realist and An Optimist
You accept that life is unique and it is what it is. You
like to deal with the reality of life however because you
are an optimist you have hope for the future and a
positive outlook on life.
You believe that there will always be a way to sort out
any situation you may face in life. Your optimistic view
of life is contagious and a source of positive energy for
those around you.
These are great qualities to have as a leader, as
leaders need to be positive and hopeful and at the
same time accepting what will be, will be.
2. You Love To Learn
You are always open to learning new things, in fact you
actively search for new knowledge and information
that can enhance your abilities to be a better person.
You also love to learn from others and you will actively
search out and connect with people who you can
watch and learn from.
Your love of learning is definitely a leadership quality.
A good leader never stops learning. They never turn
down the opportunity to learn new things. Like you,
leaders are open to the fact that the opportunity to
learn can come at any time. It could come from a
university lecturer, the person who makes their coffee
or sells them a newspaper. Your love of learning sets
you on the pathway to being a great leader.
3. You Are A Good Listener
You know when you are a good listener because
people come to you to ask your advice or to share
their problems. They know that when they talk to you,
you make them feel that they have been heard and
valued.
You don’t like to do a lot of talking when you are
listening to a person because that distracts you from
getting to the core of the issue or problem that is
being discussed.
The conversations you have with these people are not
about you and you understand that. You may know
the answer about how this person could solve the
problem, however your focus is guiding and advising
the person as to how they can come to their own
solution or plan of action.
Richard Branson believes that a person who is a great
listener has the ability to be a great leader. It is a key
requirement according to Branson and you have it.
4. You Always See Potential In Others
You love people and you connect easily with all types
of people. You also operate intuitively and will
recognise very quickly the potential abilities of people
you meet.
You see the potential for personal leadership in others
and will encourage and support those people to take
up any opportunity to unleash their potential.
5. You Are A Kind Person
You have empathy for people and you can very quickly
tune in to how they are feeling. You do not believe that
by showing kindness that you are being weak. In fact
you see it as a strength because by being empathetic
and kind to others means that you are living your
values and that to you is very important.
Being kind to others is an integral part of your life
philosophy and this is what makes you a great leader.
6. You Are Resourceful
You have this amazing ability to use what ever you are
given to make the best of a situation.People look to
you as the person who can take them out of a crises
because you always seem to find a way.
You are prepared to ask for favours, work hard, stay
focused, be honest and ask for help. You have an
ability to see and prepare for the future because you
embrace the concept of change.
To you change is a constant part of life and you just go
with it. This is a key quality for a leader to have,
because to be resourceful, you have to be motivated
to act quickly – procrastination is like a swear word to
you.
7. You Are A Good Communicator
You know who you are and what you stand for. You
can clearly articulate to others your thoughts and
opinions. Speaking your truth is important to you
however you are also very aware of how others
receive your message.
You are quite strategic in how you deliver what can be
received as “unwelcome news”. Your intention is
always to communicate even if it is a difficult message
with heart felt intent and you strive to ensure that
those receiving the message feel and clearly
understand your intent and what you are saying to
them.
There is no confusion, misunderstanding or unclear
expectations when you are communicating with
others because you work hard to ensure that all
parties are on the same page.
8. You Create And Maintain Great Relationships
You enjoy being around people and you surround
yourself with people who challenge, inspire, teach,
support and encourage you. You are a great
networker because you love connecting to people.
Family and friends are very important to you and you
work hard to have flourishing relationships with all
your family and friends.
People see you as someone who is reliable, honest
and trustworthy – you keep your word and you are not
into the drama of life. That’s just not your style. You
avoid relationships with people who lead lives that are
full of drama and negativity – their energy drags you
down.
You love the positive energy that your relationships
give you as it is this energy that fires you up, inspires
and motivates you. This is such an important quality
for a leader to have and you have it! Congratulations.
9. You Like To Have Fun And Celebrate
This is how Richard Branson lives his life and you
follow a similar life philosophy. Enjoying what you do
in your life both professionally and personally is
important to you and you just love to have fun. You
also love to celebrate your successes and other
people’s successes.
Your optimism and outlook on life is a source of
positive energy and its contagious. People really enjoy
being around you because you inspire and motivate
them with your energy, enthusiasm and love of life.
People always feel good when they engage and
connect with you. A wonderful quality that sets you up
to be an incredible leader.
10. You Are Self Aware And Confident
You know who you are, what you are good at and what
you are not so good at. You accept that you are
accountable for your own actions and behaviours.
You are not into the blame game and will admit you
are wrong or have made a mistake with no hesitation.
You spend a lot of time getting to know you so that
you can be a better person.
You are really comfortable working with others who
are more skilled than you because it means the job will
get done – probably to a better standard than if you
had tried to complete the task alone.
You know your strengths and your weakness and
you’re not afraid to share with people these aspects
about you. You know when you can help and when
you need help and as a result you appear to others as
a confident, articulate and empathetic person.
11. You Are Prepared To Take A Stand For What
You Believe
You know who you are and what you believe in and
you make sure that those around you know also. You
are not afraid to speak your mind. You also believe it is
important to do what you believe is right.
You are committed to your values and you live your life
according to those values. You respect diversity and
difference however you do not tolerate injustice,
intolerance and the abuse of others.
People feel inspired by your commitment and passion
and will seek you out to connect and engage with you.
This is a key quality of a great and courageous leader.
It takes courage to stand up and speak out for those
who are too afraid to.
12. You Tend Not To Panic In Difficult Situations
This quotes illustrates when good leaders shine –
which is effectively leading in challenging and tough
times. By staying calm in times of crises you
demonstrate a key leadership quality. When you are
able to stay calm in a crises situation you maintain the
ability to reason, to be effective, to have empathy and
to connect to how you feel.
An individual who panics can not act or respond with
consideration. They can only react and respond in the
heat of the moment. You do not operate this way
because you know that irrational and reactive
behaviour does not produce effective and reasonable
solutions.
13. You Are A Solution Based Thinker Who Likes
To Think Outside of the Square
You are future orientated in your thinking and that
means that you like to look outside of the square to
search for solutions. Forget the problem you say, lets
look at what solutions are out there for us to consider
on how we can solve the problem.
You have an ability to see and prepare for the future
because you embrace the concept of change. To you
change is a constant part of life and you prepare for it
and you just go with it.
You enjoy the challenge of thinking outside of the
square because it requires you to be creative and
innovative and thats when you feel the most energised
and inspired.
People feel your passion and energy – it is contagious
and people love you for it! When you are in this space
you are operating as the great leader you were born to
be.

TOP 5 DEADLY MISTAKES EVERY KSU UNDERGRADUATE MAKE UNKNOWINGLY

Every day we come across a lot of people, mostly
young individuals with vision for a brighter tomorrow.
But when you sit with them and ask the deeper
questions as to why they make some decisions, they
seem to have no clue to what they have done.
Analyzing the situation, I came across some blunder
that they have committed on the long run, amongst
them are five listed below:

1. THINKING INSIDE THE BOX
As a statement it sounds very okay, but its contextual
meaning in the educational terrain, seems bizarre.
Most students today do not actually know what is
happening around them, as all they seem concerned
about is classes, reading textbooks and materials
given to them by their respective lecturers… so in the
long run, they get good grades and they are promoted
to the next level. Does it actually end there?
Many have forgotten that school is just an eye opener
to what the real world offers. That is why today we
have graduates with 1st class and 2nd class with no
specific skill and they complain of not been employed,
when they cannot even open MSWORD with a mouse
or even shutdown a computer. They would go ahead
to blame the witches of their mother’s and father’s
land for every misfortune when in the real sense they
cannot even hold down a steady conversation on
topics like sports, politics, music, books… think outside
the box and see what the real world has got to offer.
“School will only sharpen you but your skills
will decorate you”
2. LEARNING TO WRITE A Curriculum Vitae
MENTALITY
Knowing the entails of writing a very good CV is not a
bad idea in its own sense. But have you asked yourself
what life will be like without writing a CV? Or is it a bad
idea to have people submitting to you as against you
submitting yours and putting your fate and destiny in
another person hands, when sometimes they would
not even look through it, is that not touching?.
I believe writing a CV in the long run will condition your
mind that you have to be employed by a person which
is not a bad idea in its self, but the truth is you will
never get a better shot at life. But not putting all your
effort into writing a CV, will open a window of
opportunity because then your thinking is not caged
and thus, while you think of a person employing you,
you can also think of creating employment and
employing others, a win-win situation right?.
But come to think of it, the wealthiest and influential
people in the world today never sat down to write a CV
(In doubt? Google is your friend). So friend, instead
use that paper as a drawing board and sketch the
structure of a perfect business plan with the little you
have and see your little efforts become positively viral.
“Do not waste time thinking on how to write
a killer and enticing CV, instead use that
time in thinking how you can make your life
better even with your little resources.”
3. SELF PITY AND REGRETS
The duos are perfect dream assassins. Do not ever
plunge into their arms. For nothing should you regret
where you find yourself, what course you are
studying… or pity yourself for nothing, because if you
do, you will never make it in life.
Do not sit and compare yourself to your neighbors
who are studying engineering, medicine, law or what
have you, for they do not guarantee life security. Your
security comes from within, so please overlook the
bandwagon that scorn your course of study and focus
on building a niche for yourself in any sector that you
find yourself.
Look deep and realize what it is you love doing most
and then go ahead to integrate it with what you are
doing now and if you do not make it in life, doubt my
credibility. Life and wealth is up for grabs to those that
are daring, so let others waste their time in laughter
while it actually becomes your driving force and
motivator.
“Please do not seek admission every year,
but learn a new skill every year”
4. WRONG COMPANY
You want to be a success, please do not be found in
the wrong side of town.
If you should have friends, I recommend people who
are better and well experienced than you or you can
look for people who are on the same wavelength with
you, be it in aspirations and driving factors.
Friends can so influence you that I can say
categorically that sometimes whatever you become is
directly an impact from the actions of the friend you
keep. Show me your friend and I will tell who you are.
Do not mingle with loafers, cultist, jesters, party
captains and lords, smokers and sniffers… or else by
now I think you should know that your life is taking a
headlong fall into the ocean of destruction.
In short, anyone that cannot add to your life in any
way (physically, spiritually, morally, technically…)
should be BLACKLISTED. There should be no room for
complacency, because the road is far ahead and any
extra baggage should be dropped.
“The more friends you have, the more fun
you will have. The fewer friend you have, the
fewer your problems!”
5. NO PLAN
This is the deadliest of all mistakes, because if you
have not set any plans for tomorrow, brother, this is a
free ride to failure, no hidden charges.
We all join the rat race to higher institutions and after
that what’s next? We get hooked up in life’s traffic jam!
The main reason you will fail is when you do not even
have a plan, so study medicine or guidance and
counseling, but without plans, you are NOTHING!
Learn to set goals and plan on how to achieve them.
Set task and work towards them. Do not ever think
that your parents will always be there to pay your bills
or feel you will always get free food and rides. That’s a
big fantasy, wake up!
Make achievable plans and set structures to meet
them, it might take weeks or months, but what
matters is that you are working towards something,
unlike others who are working towards nothing.
“He who fails to plan, has definitely planned
to fail”

Why you should start-up your own business inNigeria, even as a student

I read a story on success.com about a man, John, 53
years old, who lost his job in a company he has
worked for 8 years. He has worked himself up to a
position in middle management with a decent salary
and great benefits. Now, he is out of a job.
Having spent his entire adult life in corporate
positions, he knew he could go job hunting. But this
was the fifth time he’d had a “secure” position shot out
from under him, whether through downsizing,
restructuring or other reorganization. With a wife and
two teenagers to clothe and feed, he was no longer
willing to trust his future to this game of corporate
roulette. It was time to go into business for himself.
Sad story!
Do you want to be like John? Are you waiting until you
are 53, when you have a family to feed and cater for
before you’ll make the decision to start your own
business?

The government and
tertiary institutions
encourages the youths
(even if just by word of
mouth) to go into
entrepreneurship because
everyone knows that there
are limited number of jobs
available for the ever-
growing number of
graduates trooping out of
our tertiary institutions
each year… but it seems
some of us still don’t get
the hang of it.
According to strategicbusinessteam.com, these are
why you should start your own business in Nigeria this
2015:
Nigeria is a country with a population of over 170
million and growing rapidly. This means that
there’s a ready market for products that fulfill a
need or solves a problem.
Nigeria is a rapidly developing country and one of
the fastest growing economies in the world. What
this means is that there is still a lot of untapped
niches and opportunities in virtually every sector.
Nigeria is blessed with both mineral and natural
resources that are under-exploited.
Nigeria is currently facing some critical internal
problems with respect to security and the rest.
But savvy entrepreneurs know that problems are
simply opportunities in disguise. Just bear in mind
that there’s a lot of money to be made from these
problems; if only you will keep an open mind.
Why haven’t you started your own business? If you
answer right, it is usually FEAR. Fear of failure. Fear,
that people will mock you when you don’t succeed.
What you should be afraid of is not getting a job at all;
you should be afraid of being laid off from the job you
have or plan to have; you should fear what the future
holds for you after retirement when you are not able
to keep much savings because your paycheck goes
entirely into catering for your family. There are worse
things you should fear.
Jason Njoku, founder of IROKOtv, said in his own
words “I am a certified failure”. He had tried series of
businesses for over 8 years after graduation from the
university and had failed in all. He finally started
IROKOtv (now worth over $30 million) and now he is
listed in Forbes Young African Millionaires to watch.
So… I am not saying that you will not fail if you try to
start up a business, I am saying that in the midst of
those failures you learn, you improve and if you are
persistent, you must make it eventually and if you are
smart, you will make it BIG.
For a student who wants to start up a business,
university is the best place to start your first business.
If you have an idea, put passion into it and go for it. If
u fail, good. It means that you failed early and you
learn early and gain experience early. You don’t have a
family to take care of, so failure doesn’t affect you
seriously. And who knows? You could create the next
big thing. An undergraduate, Mark Zuckerberg,
founded Facebook in his Harvard dorm room.
There are benefits of starting your own business: you
possess real job security, you enjoy freedom to design
your own life, you live a life of greater impact and you
make more money… Yes… more income, that
increases as your retirement days draw closer.
I don’t have to tell you that you don’t need an MBA to
start a business; you don’t need to be rich or have
huge capital to start up a business.
But you must know this: What you save in cash capital
you will make up for in sweat equity and passion. The
major investment in most self-owned businesses is
investment of one’s self in the form of time, focus and
persistence. You need a burning desire and
determination fuelled by a strong dose of passion!
Have lovely weekend !!

16 Questions Every 20-Something Should AskThemselves From Time To Time

As a 20-something you are faced with many challenges
and struggles. Whether those challenges are focusing
on your career path, your relationships, your body
image, or even your life’s purpose; no one can give you
the answers to the questions you should be asking
yourself. Asking yourself questions when faced with
life’s complications can inspire you to re-think, re-
analyze and re-configure the way you have been living
life.

1. Am I Living Up To My Full Potential?
As a 20-something it’s easy to reach certain milestones
in life, and slowly begin to plateau. The personal
growth incurred by challenging your capabilities, can
help you reach the best version of yourself that you
have ever experienced.
2. Do I Compare
Myself To Others Too
Often?
It’s easy to get caught up
in what your peers are
accomplishing while living
in their twenties.
Comparing yourself to
someone that isn’t you,
may only bring
discouragement. You may
feel as if you are falling
behind, when in fact you
are the leader of your own
life journey.
3. Do I Live In The Present?
As a 20-something you begin to explore who you really
are. In order to define your present, you need to keep
the past behind you and the future in the horizon. Try
living in the moments before they pass. Your past is
the foundation to the present, and the present will
shape the future.
4. What Are My Life Goals?
Building life goals strengthens the purpose to life.
While living in the present is essential to happiness,
having a bucket list can give you something to look
forward. Achieving goals does not happen over night,
so taking small steps that can be applied to your
everyday life, can help build towards your future
accomplishments.
5. What Triggers My Stress?
It’s important to understand your stress triggers, so
you can recognize them when they are present in your
life. Once you can recognize your triggers, managing
how you react to stress becomes a lot easier, and you
can deal with stress on a mature and manageable
level.
6. Do I Recognize My Weaknesses?
It can be easy at times to point out the faults and
weakness of others, but have you ever analyzed your
own weaknesses? Recognizing your weaknesses may
open many doors for self-improvement and personal
growth.
7. Do I Recognize My Growth Throughout The
Years?
Life sure feels like a scramble as a 20-something, but
stopping to absorb all of the incredible things that you
have accomplished so far can really encourage and
motivate you to aim higher with everything else that
you do.
8. Do My Friends Reflect Who I Really Am?
As a 20-something you might hang on to friends from
high school, from college, from university, from past
work facilities, and so on. Not to say you should say
good-bye to all past friendships and only focus on the
new, but you should make sure that you are
surrounding yourself with people who also reflect who
you are and who you want to be.
9. Do I Make My Decisions Based On The
Needs Of Others?
Whether it’s the need for acceptance or recognition,
sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in what others
want from you, for you. Making decisions based on
the needs of others is a short-term fix to keep the
people around you content so you can bypass endless
questions. However, it’s you who ultimately has to live
with your decisions.
10. Am I Spending Money On The Wrong
Things?
Saving money can feel impossible once all monthly
living expenses are covered. Making a practical budget
and breaking down what you actually need and use
can really help you see what you have been disposing
your money on. Try looking at your wants verses your
needs. You may want 2GB of data for your fancy new
smart phone, but why not cut the cost of your data
plan if you’re actually only using 500MB each month?
Do this practice for your cable bill, your grocery list, or
even your personal products.
11. Am I Ready To Begin Investing In My
Future?
Knowing the lifestyle you want to live can determine
how you should invest in your future. A part of
investing in your future is deciding a career path. The
rest of it is buying property and planning for
retirement, which in your twenties may seem obscure.
12. Do I Feel Like An Equal Contributor In My
Workplace?
As a 20-something it’s easy to get looked at as the
“rookie” in any job position. If you are putting in hard,
honest work ethic and not receiving credit for the
work you are doing, it can feel daunting. If you find
yourself in a workplace where you are not seen as an
equal maybe it’s time to find your voice and speak up.
13. What Do I Need From A Romantic
Relationship?
You might have experienced a romantic relationship at
some point during your twenties, and it may not have
worked out, that’s okay. With each relationship had,
you are constantly learning about yourself, as well as
others, and what you need out of a life partner. Try
taking all of your past relationships and picking out the
qualities that you appreciated most, and all of the
qualities that held no room for compromise. This will
show you the characteristics that are most attractive
and important to you.
14. Am I Too Dependent On My Parents?
Sometimes being a 20-something is doing things on
your own without parental guidance. As a child,
parents were usually there to help you as best as they
could in all aspects. As an adult, your parents may be
there to mentally support you, but they are no longer
held responsible to pay your bills, drive you around, or
book your appointments.
15. Do I Love Myself?
Self-love can be hard to wrap your head around when
you’re a 20-something, but when you find it, you have
a whole new appreciation for yourself. Self-love is
about being understanding towards your own needs,
as well as having the courage to stand up for yourself
even when you’re standing alone. Self-love is knowing
how to forgive yourself, and having the ability to live
life worry-free from the thoughts others may have of
you.
16. Am I Happy?
A question that trumps all; knowing your weaknesses,
knowing your strengths, and ultimately understanding
yourself as best as possible, will help you find your
happiness.

Top 9 Tips for Maintaining a Positive Attitude

Having and maintaining a positive attitude is vital for
success in life and business. Zig Ziglar gets it right
when he says, “It is your attitude, not your aptitude,
that determines your altitude.” Sure you need skills,
but you can learn skills – in fact a positive attitude will
make it much more likely that you will learn the skills
necessary to succeed. If you take two people with an
equal skill set the person with the better attitude will
win.
Unfortunately it is not always easy to stay positive and
keep a good attitude.
As things go wrong
throughout your day, it is
easy to let negative
thoughts start to take
over. Thankfully there are
many things that you can
do to help maintain a
positive attitude. These are
things that you can do on a
daily, weekly, or monthly
basis to make sure you
keep your positive focus.

1. Read Positive and
Inspiring Books
One of the best ways to maintain a positive
attitude is by reading positive books. These
books serve to encourage you, inspire you,
and teach you. Reading requires that you sit
still and focus, and by focusing on something
positive it helps you to keep a positive mindset
throughout the day.
2. Listen to Podcasts/CDS
The advantage of listening to podcasts or
compact disks is that you can listen on the go.
You can listen to motivating podcasts while
you clean your house, exercise, or on a flight.
In your car, you can play encouraging compact
disks that help you make better use of your
commute. Listening to recordings from people
like Zig Ziglar, Tony Robbins, or John Maxwell
can both teach and inspire you.
3. Wake up Early
One of the best ways to help you maintain a
positive attitude is to create the habit of
waking up early. Waking up early allows you to
get a head start on the day. You can prepare
for work and start your day without feeling
rushed. You can get a head start on important
projects before the rest of the world is awake
to interrupt you. You can spend time reading
or in prayer or meditation. I start each day by
listening to a 10 minute motivational podcast.
4. Exercise
Very few things in life leverage your time as
much as exercise. Obviously it makes a
difference for your physical health, but it also
has significant benefits to your mental health.
Exercise is useful to combat depression and to
improve overall positive mood. Further, if you
exercise early in the morning you can go
through your day knowing that you have
already completed the most valuable activity
you had to do!
5. Plan Your Week and Day
Having a clear plan to your day and to your
week can go a long way to helping you
maintain a positive attitude. By knowing what
you want to accomplish you will be able to
focus on your important life priorities. A
weekly plan allows you to match your long-
term goals to your weekly accomplishments.
Your daily plan allows you complete the
activities you need to do so that you meet your
weekly goals.
6. Understand that Things Won’t Always Go as
Planned
If you plan and expect everything in life will go
as you planned, you will be quickly
disappointed. One of the keys to maintaining a
positive attitude is to understand that things
will go wrong. If you expect things to go
wrong, you won’t be phased when they do. So
have a plan, but understand that things won’t
follow the plan. The plan allows you to adapt
to what went wrong and move back towards
what is important.
7. Get Spiritually Connected
Naturally this one will look different for
everyone, and this is simply an option to
consider. If you are spiritually connected, you
will have a positive outlook on life. This might
mean prayer, meditation or reading Scripture.
Set aside time each day to be connected
spiritually.
8. Be Thankful
Take some time and be thankful. Be thankful
about what you have, who you are, and what
your life is like. Think through all of the things
that you can be thankful for. Even if you are in
a tough time in life there are many things you
have that you can be thankful for. You need to
look for them and recognize them. The very
act of focusing on what you are thankful for
will help you maintain your positive attitude.
9. Surround Yourself with Positive People
The people around you have a big impact on
you. They impact who you are, how much
money you will make, and what you value.
They also impact how you think. If you
surround yourself with negative people you
will be negative as well. You can’t help it.
Hearing negativity all day leads you to
negativity. The opposite is also true. Surround
yourself with positive people and you will be
more positive.

The Day of the Exam: 15 Tips to Boost your ExamPerformance

However hard you studied in the run up to exams, the
most important work is yet to be done. Regardless of
how much you have studied, it is possible that your
exam performance may not reflect your hard
work studying for hours on end. That is why we
want to give you a few tips to maximise your
performance on the day of the exam.

Exam Tip #1
Wake up early so that you do not need to rush through
having breakfast and getting ready.
Exam Tip #2
Check the venue and time
of the exam to make sure
that you have not
confused the day/time/
venue.
Exam Tip #3
Have a balanced breakfast
and eat nothing risky
(probably not the best day
to have a super-hot
curry!). Bananas are
always a good option.
Exam Tip #4
Before leaving home, check that you have everything
that you will need – ID, stationery, map to the exam
venue, etc.
Exam Tip #5
Head to the exam with plenty of time. A lot of
unexpected events can happen on your way there and
you do not want to be late!
Exam Tip #6
If there are people around who are panicking, avoid
them. They are not doing you any favour!
Exam Tip #7
Go to the toilet before the exam starts. Exams can be
quite long and there is no time to waste.
Exam Tip #8
Remember to write your name on the exam paper.
You would not believe how many people have
forgotten to do it!
Exam Tip #9
Read all the questions carefully before starting and
quickly plan how much time to allocate to each.
Exam Tip #10
Start answering the questions that you feel most
confident about. There is no need to answer the
questions in order.
Exam Tip #11
If your brain freezes, just start writing anything and
you will soon start remembering more details.
Exam Tip #12
Don’t spend more time than you planned on a
particular section/question or you might run out of
time to answer other questions and gain those extra
marks! Also, leave any questions that you are unsure
about for the end.
Exam Tip #13
Don’t be afraid to ask the examiner if you are not clear
on a question.
Exam Tip #14
Use every minute of the exam and if you have time
left, review your answers before handing back the
paper.
Exam Tip #15
Stay calm, you have done your homework and have
nothing to fear!

Reasons Why Some Students Study Very HardBut Still Fail Exams

Ever wonder why some students read very
hard every semester but surprisingly fail
their exams at the end of it all?
Such students read almost every day and
night and are perceived by their mates as
hardworking students who deserve to
succeed academically; however, their poor
grades keep surprising them and everyone
else.
If you study hard
and your grades
seem not to reflect
your hard work,
then its time you
stop working hard
and start working
smart.
Here are some
reasons why some
students study hard
but fail.
1. Upholding
hard work while neglecting smart
work
Hard work is good but hard work when
done smartly is far better and produces
greater result.
Hard work starts with reading and ends with
more reading.
Students who uphold hard work while
neglecting smart work believe they must
read every note, text-book, handout and all
materials they can get to be able to pass.
On the other hand, smart work involves
reading and settling back to self-examine
whether what is being read is really
required for passing exams.
Students who seem to read less but still
perform excellently well have been able to
combine smart work and hard work. They
are able to smartly figure out what they
need to read to pass. They know they don’t
have to read all the textbooks in the library
to be able perform well.
2. Not knowing when it’s enough
Studying saps energy. When you become
tired while reading it is important you take a
break, take a walk or go watch TV before
returning to your books.
Most students read hard and fail because
they stay glued to their books even when
they’re exhausted and need rest. In such
condition everything they’ll be reading stops
making sense but they continue
nonetheless.
3. Having difficulty prioritizing
what’s important
Not all courses or subjects are read the
same. Seemingly difficult subjects or
courses should be given higher priority.
Also, courses that are prerequisites are
more important than electives and thus
must be given more priority as we study.
4. Focusing on “I don’t want to fail”
instead of “I want to pass”
This is a mind game. Winners always focus
their minds on winning.
From personal experience, I see that most
students who read more than others but
still fail do their read out of fear. They afraid
of failing hence they often say things like: “I
don’t want to fail”. Fear is their motivation.
The solution to is to focus our minds on “I
want to pass” so I’ll read.
5. Putting their books first and
themselves second
They read all day and night while they forget
about the need to take care of themselves.
Haven’t you seen those who read from the
first day of resumption to the last week of
lectures only to fall sick in the week of
exams? They stress and wear themselves
out.
6. They read all the time instead of
at ‘their right time’
There is often the ‘right time’ to read for
every student. This is often the time of the
day when you are able to grasp and
understand more as you read. For some
their right time to read is at night.
Students who read hard and still fail read at
all times even when it’s not necessary.
At the end of the day, they are perceived to
be serious and hardworking students but
they have no results to show for their
labour.
If this issue affects you I hope this write-up
helps you to understand how you ought to
adjust.

#THELIST: Top ten awesome places in and around Kogi State University

Kogi state university is filled with a lot of standout places in and around the institution, places that fill your belly with joy. So on #thelist this wonderful realers saturday we list 10 standout or awesome places in and around Kogi state university,if you haven't been to this places you need to check them out.

10. MACOSA Radio and T.V Studio : The KSU masscommunication studio(radio and t.v) reeks of awesomeness in its tiny bits. If you haven't been there as a ksu student then you are seriously dulling. Its not the aso rock or harvard university type of awesome, but its a standout place. The accostic wall design of the t.v room is preety at best, and the interior of the radio studio(especially in the year they built it) is just amazing(if you're entering for the first time),even though most of their equipments needs replacement.
9. Art and humanities falculty : Most students would have,at least once passed through art and humanities before, its always looking kinda rough and all day by day,the rusty gate, that ugly man o'war office, the primary school which I think is a bad idea and so on. But if you take your time to observe the faculty itself you'll discover how awesome the faculty is. The TETFUND lecture rooms with the cozy seats, the nice classrooms that looks maintained, and their magical garden in the middle, that garden is really cool, with the trees an all,and the cool air, really awesome. And by the way, let's not forget the old L.T under renovation,I think its going to make the faculty even more special. And always keep a date with all those theatre arts production night, its goosebummy
8. The school library : The school library is one of those places in ksu that you enter and feel 21st century. Its modern, its neat, its awe inspiring. The interior design especially is spot on. The problem in KSU is MAINTENANCE. If that library was under proper maintenance am sure it will look better than that. Anyways, the place is conducive enough for reading, and its an awesome place for readers.
7. VOGUES : Do I need to say much about VOGUES. Its not "CLUB ROYAL",but its awesome as it is. Just check it out on a friday night and see how awesome it looks with students around.
6. DUSAK VEIWING CENTRE : For a viewing centre of kogi state standards, this is sheer brilliance !!! The exterior doesn't really have much going, and the interior is simple, the italian way, flat screens on the wall, wide viewing area for viewers, but what makes this place awesome is the match days and the people, especially on a champions league night. The atmosphere, the frenzy, its like the gathering of passionate football fans. The atmosphere is always electric. The arsenal manchester united game last semester was magnifico. If you haven't been there on a matchday, you are on a looooong thing.
5. Medical hostel : The medical hostel isn't top class, but its a breath of fresh air compared to other places in ksu. The quiet environment, the design of the hostel just makes it awesome.
4. HABOUR BAY : Describing HABOUR BAY for most ksu students is like describing what "opa" looks like. HABOUR BAY is awesome, and if you haven't been there then make sure you check it out ASAP.
3. Management garden : This personally is my favourite place in ksu. The management garden is a cool (and romantic) place to be. Its easy to think and relax over there, even though church people have taken over.
2. The GRUVE : Oh my GRUVE !!! The girls love that place. You wanna win a girl over, especially all those inikpi girls just carry dem comot go gruve, buy mede mede for dem,dem go gree sharp sharp. Seriously now,the GRUVE is an awesome place to be,the interior design, with the lights and all,the chairs, dem try small, they gat something going for them over there.
1. Agriculture faculty : Agric faculty is beautiful. The garden is beautiful. The labs are beautiful. The classrooms are beautiful. The enviroment is beautiful. Forgive me,I just love that place, words alone cannot describe how much I love that place. Its the coolest place in ksu by far !!! The lecture theatre is modern, the classrooms are modern, the labs are modern, the enviroment is conducive and amazing. And they are not done yet with the faculty. Big ups to ksu for blessing ksu students with that place. Its just naturally different from other faculties.
