Reasons Why Students Fail To GraduateWith Good Grades

There are many factors that can contribute to a
student not graduating with good grade. Many of
these factors may be beyond the control of the
student. However, from observation many students
fail to graduate with good grades for reasons which
can be traced directly to them. They knowingly or
unknowingly plotted their own failure.
Here are 5
common ways
many students
jeopardize
their chances
of graduating
with good
grades;

Poor Start: It is said that
the beginning of a thing
matters. This is true if you
aim to graduate with good
grades. It has been
observed that students
who end up graduating
with good grades are the
ones that started putting
the needed effort right
from their first year. Many
think that they have plenty
of time, so they use their
first year to have “fun” only
to realize how difficult it is to make up for what has
been lost already.
Lack of Interest: For one reason or the other many
students find themselves admitted to study a
particular course they have no interest to study. Many
of such students usually develop apathy for academic
activities. Some others take their academics with levity
hoping they will change into a more preferable course
one later (which may never happen). Only to wish they
have been more serious later. Even if the course
wasn’t what you opted for, take time to find out what
the course is all about and its prospects. You never
can tell, you may end up loving it more than your
preferred course.
There are some others who have no interest
whatsoever in academics. They are in school against
their own will. A student once told me, “I’m here just
because my parents want me to be here.” You can
hardly put a good amount of effort needed to succeed
in something you are not interested in.
Misplaced Priorities/Poor Time Management:
One major cause of failure is broken or diverted focus.
You are in school to study and learn. That means you
shouldn’t focus on something else at the expense of
the main reason you are in school. I am not saying you
shouldn’t take out time to socialize, have fun, etc. but
don’t indulge in these things at the expense of your
study. In higher institutions there are many things that
will likely get you distracted. Hence, the need for you
to get your priorities right, set relevant goals and
eliminate as much distraction as possible in order to
remain focused on your main objective.
Negative Influence: In campus, you are going to
meet the good, the bad and the ugly. Therefore who
you choose or allow to choose you as a friend will
likely influence you either positively or negatively.
Beware of “friends” who will discourage you from
attending lectures and studying.
Poor Study Habits: Since the main objective you
are in school is to study and learn, your success will
depend on your study habits/pattern. Studying hard is
not enough, you also need to study smart. An effective
study habit considers what to study, when to study
and how to study.

Answer These Riddles and You Will Find theAnswers to Life

Looking for deeper meaning, trying to find patterns in
everything, eager to answer life’s riddles—it is this
curiosity and hunger for knowledge that has gotten us
to where we are now as a species. We have built an
advanced civilization by coming up with solutions to
problems, and even though we may be somewhat
complacent at this stage of our history, there are still a
lot of little questions that every person needs to
answer throughout his or her life in order to find that
unique brand of happiness that will be slightly
different for each of us.
As I am a big fan of the Socratic method, I will play a
benevolent Riddler and give you a list of brain-teasers
that, when answered and understood, will help you
come closer to finding answers to much deeper
issues. Oh, and trust me, learning how to apply any of
this knowledge in real life, day to day, will be the true
challenge you’ll have to face. There will be enough
space between each riddle and its answer to allow you
to think it over and do some guessing before you scroll
down, so take your time.

Riddle 1
Journey without it
and you will never
prevail, but if you
have too much of it
you will surely fail.

Answer: Confidence
While there are plenty of those who lack the
confidence to stand up for themselves and seize
opportunities, there are also plenty of people out
there who overestimate their abilities and bite off
more than they can chew. To ensure a reasonable
level of happiness in life and achieve as much as you
can, you have to live between these extremes and
learn to strike the right balance between the different
values that you govern yourself by.

Riddle 2
Poor people have it. Rich people need it. It
can make you or break you.

Answer: Adversity
Steel is hardened by being exposed to the roaring fires
of a furnace and then cooled down, and so too is the
human spirit hardened by adversity. The rich and
privileged lack it and often become spoiled, with a
warped view of reality and a childish ignorance of the
ways of the world. However, if a person faces
numerous hardships without the ability to cool down
and recover, his or her spirit can be broken or they can
become bitter and jaded. You need to live through
some tough times to get a respect for life and hone
those survival skills, but remember that there are also
those whose hardships have taken them to a
dangerous place—beware of such people.
Riddle 3
Everyone wants more of it to feel special, yet
the more you have of it the less special you
feel.

Answer: Knowledge
Ah, to be young and foolish is a wonderful thing. You
think you know everything, that you are indestructible
and have life all figured out, then as you get older and
wiser, and delve much deeper into certain subjects,
you suddenly realize just how much more there is to
know. It can take people an entire lifetime to truly
master a skill or acquire detailed knowledge on a topic,
and there are just too many skills and topics for any
one person to cover in several lifetimes.
Understanding this makes you humble, and it also
makes you question people who think they have all the
answers.
Riddle 4
If you have me, you want to share me. If you
share me, you haven’t got me. What am I?

Answer: Secret
Some people fail to grasp the true importance of
secrets. From a moral standpoint, they help you avoid
lying, but at the same time allow you to protect your
privacy and the privacy of those close to you. There is
an urge to gossip and spread interesting information
that we as humans are born with, but it has to be
controlled. Little facts that only a few people know
help strengthen the bonds of friendship and love
between them—protecting someone’s secret in this
day and age is nearly as brave and noble as protecting
them from a wild animal.
Riddle 5
You can only have it once you have given it.

Answer: Respect
One of the most misunderstood concepts out there,
respect is asked for yet seldom given. Some even try to
take it by force or buy it, but if you are unable to show
others respect and treat them as equals you will never
be able to truly earn their respect. People respect
bravery, intelligence, skill, talent, compassion and
physical and mental strength, and these things cannot
be faked.
Riddle 6
Imagine you are in a dark room. How do
you get out?

Answer: Stop imagining it
There is something to be said about the
destructiveness of self-fulfilling prophecies that
people regularly impose upon themselves. When every
hint of trouble is immediately viewed as a disaster and
any attempt at remedying a situation is brushed aside
with “What’s the point? It will never work,” then what
chance do we stand when things really go bad? It is
important not to give up before the battle has even
begun, and to avoid taking yourself to that dark and
lonely place all the time. A little positivity and
determination will go a long way.
Riddle 7
What is always coming but never arrives?

Answer: Tomorrow
Procrastination is born out of laziness and the fear of
making changes, and it is the biggest dream killer out
there. If you keep rescheduling important things for
tomorrow, Monday or next month, you’ll stay in the
same place as the world keeps moving on without you.
Some 20-30 minutes here, an hour or two there,
it’s not much time to invest in bettering yourself and if
you keep doing it every day you will reap huge
benefits. Don’t wait for tomorrow, do what needs to
be done right now.
Riddle 8
At night they come without being fetched.
By day they are lost without being stolen.

Answer: Doubts and fears
That old piece of advice given by our elders: “sleep on
it”, is as simple as it is absolutely brilliant. At night
before sleep we are at our most vulnerable, even if we
have someone to hold tight. Those nagging doubts
come creeping in, our insecurities and fears start
eating away at our mind, and that self-critical voice
gets a bit louder as the room goes quiet. However,
after a good night’s sleep, as we wake up and let some
sunshine into the room, get some fresh coffee and
tasty food in our system, those troubled thoughts
seem miles away. This is a much better time for talking
things over, making big decisions and important
phone calls.
Riddle 9
A prison you feel safe in, yet never quite
happy. Whenever you try to leave, it only
grows bigger.

Answer: Your comfort zone
The feeling of safety we get when we hide in our little
comfort zone is a false one, and the lack of initiative
will eventually lead to us feeling miserable. In order to
improve we have to be willing to try new things, throw
ourselves into uncomfortable situations and learn to
cope with them over time. As we become comfortable
with different situations and become proficient in a
variety of additional skills, that comfort zone will keep
expanding, and we will constantly need to keep
running beyond its edges.
Riddle 10
If you break me I do not stop working; if you
touch me I may be snared; if you lose me
nothing will matter.

Answer: Your heart
Letting someone get close, reach in and touch our
heart is an exhilarating and frightening experience at
the same time. There are plenty of people out there,
more than enough for everyone to find a great match.
In fact, you may find a good match several times over,
and just as your heart breaks it will also mend and be
ready to be touched again. However, if you lose that
empathy that makes you a decent human being, life
will become bleak and meaningless, so keep your heart
somewhere safe and nurture it.
Riddle 11
It starts off light and easy to bear, yet the
more you carry it with you, the heavier a
burden it becomes.

Answer: A guilty conscience
We sometimes make rash decisions, especially when
we are young and full of raging hormones, and even
when we know we did wrong we manage to rationalize
things and convince ourselves that we did nothing
wrong or that we have no choice. The thing is, you can
only keep justifying your actions for so long before
your conscience starts eating away at you. This is why
many people living a dangerous lifestyle, be they thugs
or soldiers and cops, burn out and turn to alcohol or
drugs. Abide by a code of ethics you have adopted at
all times, and you will stay in good mental health.
Riddle 12
I do not listen to reason, but I hear every
siren’s song and will try to steer us towards
the rocks if you let me take the wheel. Who
am I?

Answer: Ego
When you let your ego take over it’s very easy to take
offense at the slightest insult, start shouting matches
with people, try to show off and injure yourself at the
gym, bite off more than you can chew and ruin
relationships. It is only concerned with preserving
your perceived social status and will quickly turn you
into a drooling Neanderthal, and this goes for both
men and women. When you walk out of the house it’s
best to leave your ego at home – you don’t have to
prove anything to anybody as long as you have a good
sense of self-worth and are surrounded by people
who understand and respect you.
Riddle 13
One by one we fall from heaven down into
the depths of past, and our world is ever
upturned so that yet some time we’ll last.

Answer: Dreams and aspirations
The way we see ourselves will change over time, and
some of the dreams we had and the goals we set will
be left behind. However, as our worldview and
personality changes, new dreams and aspirations
emerge, which is a perfectly normal and healthy part
of maturing. We are not giving up who we are, we are
just evolving into an improved version of that same
person, and knowing this allows us to let go of the
past.
Riddle 14
A mile from end to end, yet as close to as a
friend. A precious commodity, freely given.
Found on the rich, poor, short and tall, but
shared among children most of all. What is
it?

Answer: A smile
This simple little thing really becomes a precious
commodity once you get older. A lot of people suffer
from anxiety and depression, and most of us spend a
good part of the week under constant stress. We
forget to smile sincerely, from the bottom of our heart
like the carefree children we once were. This is why
time spent with close family and friends becomes so
precious. We need to remember how to open our eyes
to the beauty and hilarity of the world around us, and
smile more.
Riddle 15
We hurt without moving. We poison without
touching. We bear the truth and the lies. We
are not to be judged by our size. What are
we?

Answer: Words
Our words can have an incredible effect on others.
They can cause pain and sorrow, bring joy and
laughter, make people uncomfortable, educate or
offend. A lot of people don’t really think about the
words they use, but we should all choose our words
more carefully. Just a few inappropriate words
uttered in the wrong moment can change our lives
forever, and it is up to us to learn to communicate
more tactfully so that we can dictate the outcome of
such situations, rather than let our emotions get the
better of us.
Spend a few minutes pondering these riddles and try
to think about a moment in your life that could serve
as an example for any of the points covered here. Feel
free to dissect each of the riddles and come back to
them again after you’ve had them running around in
your head for a day or two

ASSOCIATION: 6 Signs It Is Time To Break UpWith Your Friend

In my experience, I’ve learned that friendships can
have a natural tendency to go through different
stages. At one moment you’re both super close and
telling each other everything, but then a few years
later, you just chat and see each other once in a great
while.
There are many reasons for these changes in the
friendship dynamic… one getting married while the
other is still single; one taking on a totally different
career path from the other; one having children while
the other has no children and so on.
Even though these
changes can be upsetting
for one or both people, it
is a natural and healthy
change in the friendship.
We are all growing and
evolving as individuals, so
what we may have been
interested in before may
not be what we are
interested in now.
However, putting all of
that aside, there are a few
moments in life where a
breakup with a friend may
be in order. When we find ourselves questioning
whether we need to breakup with a friend, it can be
very difficult decision to make. So, here I have outlined
five signs where it may be time to breakup with your
friend:

1. They’re critical of you. Do they criticize the way you
dress? Do they put you down for not doing something
“perfect”? That being said, do they talk badly about you
to other people?
2. They seem to want to “compete” with you rather
than support. Do they make comments to you that
highlight how they “did that better”? Did they manage
to accomplish something, but then put you down for
not doing the same? Do they try to take up your
interests or hobbies in a way to try to “beat you” in
some way?
3. They’re users. Are they always asking you to do
them a favor? Do they owe you quite a bit of money,
but keep making excuses to not pay you back? Are they
always coming to you looking for help but they are
never there for you when you need help?
4. They try to make moves on your partner — or they
start dating your ex without discussing it with you
first. Actions like this are a reflection of how much
they truly value your friendship.
5. They lie to you — a lot. A few little lies is one thing,
but when there are many, it can really negatively effect
the genuineness of the friendship. If you are the type
of person that values honesty, vulnerability and
creating depth in your relationships then having a
friend that chronically lies isn’t going to support you in
that.
6. They don’t really support you. When you are going
through a difficult time, are they there for you? Do
they provide you with a good listening ear? Do they
support you in your goals? Do they “cheer you on” in
your endeavors and ask you how you’ve been doing?
Finally, ask yourself the following questions: Why am I
friends with this person? What do I gain by being
friends with this person? What do I enjoy when being
friends with this person?
If you can’t really answer those questions and a few or
all of these five signs are true for you, then a legitimate
breakup may be in order.
Ultimately, remember this: Our friendships are a
reflection of who we are. As we are growing and
evolving as human beings, we may realize that some
aspect of ourselves is no longer serving us. As a result,
we may find ourselves needing to let friends go as
well. It may involve creating some distance to give
ourselves space to grow or it may involve needing to
set boundaries for ourselves and “breaking up” with
that friend. Either way, both are a natural aspect to
our growth.

body, leading to chronic diseases in those who drink it
over time.
“The body is made up of 70 per cent of warm water.
Water is the most important fluid in the body because
it is the medium blood uses. It is the medium which
circulates nutrients around the body. If the 30 per
cent we drink is against the normal temperature of the
body, we see how hard it is for the body to make use
of it. Cold water causes distress in the tissues and
blood vessels.
“The body has to warm up the cold water you drink
every time to an acceptable temperature before it can
take it up for digestion, nutrient and blood circulation.
That is why we advise people not, take drugs with cold
water. The drugs will not digest on time; it means you
won’t get the best of the drugs because the water did
not dissolve on time.”
Family health physician and author of Ten Habits To
Drop Right Now, Dr. Vasant Lad, adds that drinking
cold water after a meal has adverse effects on the
digestive system. Lad also warns against drinking cold
water immediately before a meal.
For Dr. Lucia John, a major reason why we should
ditch cold water for tepid or warm one is its effect on
the heart. According to the healthy living expert, the
heart labours more to restore blood circulation when
we drink cold water that is not compatible with the
body’s temperature.
She says, “When we drink cold water, juice, or any cold
fluids, we create the basis for chronic heart diseases.
Cold water has a clotting effect on the blood and other
fluids in the body making it difficult for it to circulate.
“A body that cannot circulate its blood is like an
uninviting swimming pool in which moss and bacteria
grow. The blood may be thick, unable to flow properly
to the extremities of the body, the hands and feet
begin to feel numb and hurt, the toes begin to hurt,
and the toenails lose their shine and may begin to
decay. The heart labours to pump the blood
throughout the body, and the lungs fight to keep up.
The legs may swell and become dark, when blood
cannot efficiently pump back up to the heart.
“When the blood is free from toxins and flowing freely
and properly, we can then liken the blood to an inviting
swimming pool, clear and clean. It generates
happiness and perfect health, energy and creativity.
This individual contributes maximum to the health and
wellbeing of others in an innocent, natural way.”
Scientists have also solved the mystery behind the
instantaneous headache brought on by a sip of an ice-
cold drink.
According to the neurologists who analysed the result
of a study, which involved 5,000 participants over a
period of five years, cold water is not friendly to some
sections of the brain.
The researchers found that sipping it causes an abrupt
increase in blood flow to a major artery in the brain
that is then followed by the familiar headache-like. The
experts warn that over time this effect may shrink
some receptors in the brain.
Knowing all this, we have a responsibility to put into
our bodies, only drinks and foods that will enhance its
proper functioning.
Akinsanya gives a final advice on the need to take
regularly water at a normal temperature.
“The brain is fairly sensitive to temperature change,
that is why it freezes when you drink cold water at
first. This continuous seizure is not good for it. The
brain is one of the relatively important organs in the
body, and it needs to be working all the time. We
should avoid anything that will make it freeze,” he
adds.
To know the right temperature of water to drink,
Akinsanya says, “Put one finger in your mouth and
close it. The temperature of what you feel is the
temperature of water or food that you eat most times.
That is what the body is used to and that is what you
should give it.”

Sex and relationship :(for ladies only) 10 important life decisions youshould make for your own good

You should never take the back seat in your life. Letting
someone else make life decisions for you could be very
harmful to your well being in general.
Your life passes you by slowly when you don't take control
of everything that concerns you which could affect your
relationship with others. Always remember it's your life and
no one else's.
Jodie Brownell of All Women Stalk lists 10 important
life decision every girl and woman should make to herself:

To live every moment to the absolute fullest!:
Hey girl, have you felt bored or sluggish lately? If so, it's
because you have not made the decision to live every
moment to the fullest! You only have so many days on
this earth, so make the effort to live the best life ever!
Even those days that seem endless can turn into the best
day of your life, but you have to be one to change your
outlook and mood! Don't wait for the perfect moment to
start living, NO, take the moment and make it the best
one ever!
. To allow herself room for improvement and
multiple chances!: Are you a perfectionist who needs
to get everything right the first time? Or do you tend to
crawl into a ball and cry of shame after you make a
mistake? If so, honey relax. You are human and bound to
make some mistakes here and now. So understand that
you are imperfect...but also how that is what makes you
perfect! You are a perfectly imperfect young woman, so
own that!
. To love her body, take good care of it & be
proud of it!: Your body is your dear temple, so take care
of it. Stop feeding it so much junk, stop shaming it with
negative self-image talk, just love it and it will take care of
you in return. Remember, your body is your body. No one
has the right to label it, restrict it, take advantage of it, etc.
So own who you are, and be proud!!
. To pursue her dreams & let nothing stand in
her way!: You know that little feeling you have that
wants to soar through life and accomplish your destiny?
If you do, listen to it and follow it! This feeling is your
passion and your calling to life. Don't wait any longer to
go after your dreams. You were born for a purpose and
now it's time to start living it out! Also don't let other's
small imagination and negative words keep you from
following your dreams. Just ignore them and find a new
support system!
. To say "Yes" to new opportunities that will help
her grow!: This goes hand in hand with following your
dreams. Have you found yourself hesitant to take risks
and say "yes" to new opportunities? If so, why? Are you
scared, too comfortable where you are, or think that you
don't deserve it? If so, let me remind you of three things:
First of all, everything you want in life is on the other side
of fear. 2nd, life is about going beyond your comfort
zone, for that is the only way you grow. Finally, you
deserve it, honey!...every inch of you deserves to live the
best life your could ever imagine!!
. To never underestimate her worth and never
settle for less than she deserves: You are worth
more than you could ever imagine, so never settle for less
than what you deserve! And this goes for everything; job,
relationships, and all!
. To have patience & love towards herself and
others: One of the best qualities a woman can have is
patience and love towards others and herself. You should
always have high standards, but that does not mean you
have the right to have a bad attitude. Remember the
saying; treat others the way you want to be treated, well
why not start living this way? What can you lose?
. To use her story & voice to inspire others!: Your
life is your story, so use it to inspire others. It does not
matter how many mistakes you've made in the past, for
it's how you brought yourself out of them that counts. Be
proud of your story and use your voice to help other
woman as well. Many of us have not experienced what
you have, so enlighten us with your wise words, darling,
for your voice is every powerful!
. To count her blessings everyday & keep a
positive attitude!: In life there is always things to be
thankful for; your house, job, shoes, clothes, car, food,
family, etc. So make the decision of that whenever you
start hating your life or wanting more than you already
have, to count your blessings. Because when you see how
blessed you are, you'll start loving your life and be ok with
where you are. Also never lose hope, for there are always
more blessings coming, just be patient.
. To be true to herself and the world: Lastly, make
the decision to be 100% the true and amazing YOU! You
are such a gift to the word, so never cut yourself short by
trying to be someone else. This world wants the natural
you; the funny, weird, perfectly imperfect you.

What

Things High Achievers Don’t Do

High achievers have high ambitions; they live above
situations and never rest on their laurels. They are
deeply motivated and follow a set of habits that will
drive them to achievements. It is not about settling, it
is about going the extra mile to make a lasting
impression on everyone else. Here are ten things high
achievers don’t do.

They don’t
listen to
conventional
thinking
Most times
people may
not find this an
appealing
quality as they
find more
delight in approaching
problems through
unconventional paths.
They ignore popular advice
and channels and take the
ideal route that not only
appeals to them but
assures them of the
needed result.
They don’t associate
with underachievers
CEO of Facebook, Mark
Zuckerberg never fails to
thank his teammates for
the progress they make as a unit. In order to get more
done, achievers do not keep company with
underachievers. They understand that success is not
only in people but being with the right kind of people.
Connections to people of like-minds offer them the
needed growth to accomplish their pursuits.
They don’t swing with mediocrity
They commit themselves to excellence and follow
through on a goal. According to Vince Lombardi,
commitment to excellence is proportional to the
quality of one’s life. It is not about your area of
expertise, following the path of an achiever requires
consistency and an intolerance of mediocrity. Every
high achiever is not satisfied with a below par
performance because they know how impacting
excellence can be.They don’t wait for answers
While others will procrastinate, sit down and wait for
the moment to be right, achievers go at a goal even
when they may seemingly not be ready for the
success. They don’t wait for answers, they don’t sit
down to do nothing, but rather they get to work daily.
They are willing to brainstorm, troubleshoot and get
on with whatever will see an answer to a problem.
They don’t see success as being enough
While others are lulled after a particular success or a
certain accomplishment, the high achiever sees an
accomplishment only as a stepping stone to move to
the next climb. He knows that one success is not
enough to quench his taste for more success. High
achievers do not mind re-inventing or repositioning
themselves to make sure they reach the next success.
They don’t dwell on setbacks
Setbacks can be experienced every now and then. But
for the high achiever, failure and obstacle will only
trigger their desire to keep pushing. They see setbacks
as a part of the process of winning and accomplishing
something great.
They don’t clutter their lives
They know how to manage their lives to avoid
distractions and focused only on what is at hand. They
prioritize. They do not jump aimlessly from one
project to another. And if certain things are altering
their productivity, they terminate it and concentrate
on what will offer them the most obtainable results
now.
They don’t get bored
They pursue their passion, something that excites and
interests them. The challenge is always fun to them. It
spurs them and it is more like a religion to get their
desires attained. This drive will also inspire others to
flow in their direction and help them accomplish their
dreams.
They don’t wait for opportunities
Waiting for opportunities is like waiting for the rain to
pour. They don’t wait rather they make their own rain.
Counting and waiting for the right time, event and
everything to fall into place hinders the process of
getting what they want.
They don’t stay in bed late
Every high achiever wakes up early. They know a lot
can be done within those few hours before dawn.
Waking up early affords some productivity time to stay
ahead of competition. From media mogul Oprah
Winfrey, to CEO of Apple, they stay on top of their
game by waking up early.

Signs That A Leadership Mindset Is Inside YouThough You Don’t Know

“The most dangerous leadership myth is
that leaders are born – that there is a
genetic factor to leadership. That’s
nonsense; in fact, the opposite is true.
Leaders are made rather than born.” –
Warren Bennis
Great leaders share many common traits with you and
I. For one thing they are human! They have made
mistakes, failed, they have overcome disappointment,
heartache, tragedy and grief. No great leader has ever
been able to escape the roller coaster ride of life.
Becoming a great leader is
a work in progress. There
are a number of events
that occur in the life of a
leader where they were
required to act on specific
personal qualities or traits
that enabled them to lead
people to achieve
successful outcomes. I
believe that everybody has
within them the potential
to be a great leader.
Nelson Mandela is an
example of a person who
had a personal philosophy and mindset that enabled
him to become a great leader. He didn’t think he was
any one special however when placed in a situation
where he would be tested and isolated from life, his
personal philosophy became the mantra from which
he became a great leader.
You may not know it but you hold within you the
beliefs, attitudes and traits that are of leadership
quality. Here are 13 signs that you have within you the
mindset of a leader. If you “unleashed” your
leadership mindset, there is no doubt that you would
become the “great leader” you were born to be.

1. You Are A Realist and An Optimist
You accept that life is unique and it is what it is. You
like to deal with the reality of life however because you
are an optimist you have hope for the future and a
positive outlook on life.
You believe that there will always be a way to sort out
any situation you may face in life. Your optimistic view
of life is contagious and a source of positive energy for
those around you.
These are great qualities to have as a leader, as
leaders need to be positive and hopeful and at the
same time accepting what will be, will be.
2. You Love To Learn
You are always open to learning new things, in fact you
actively search for new knowledge and information
that can enhance your abilities to be a better person.
You also love to learn from others and you will actively
search out and connect with people who you can
watch and learn from.
Your love of learning is definitely a leadership quality.
A good leader never stops learning. They never turn
down the opportunity to learn new things. Like you,
leaders are open to the fact that the opportunity to
learn can come at any time. It could come from a
university lecturer, the person who makes their coffee
or sells them a newspaper. Your love of learning sets
you on the pathway to being a great leader.
3. You Are A Good Listener
You know when you are a good listener because
people come to you to ask your advice or to share
their problems. They know that when they talk to you,
you make them feel that they have been heard and
valued.
You don’t like to do a lot of talking when you are
listening to a person because that distracts you from
getting to the core of the issue or problem that is
being discussed.
The conversations you have with these people are not
about you and you understand that. You may know
the answer about how this person could solve the
problem, however your focus is guiding and advising
the person as to how they can come to their own
solution or plan of action.
Richard Branson believes that a person who is a great
listener has the ability to be a great leader. It is a key
requirement according to Branson and you have it.
4. You Always See Potential In Others
You love people and you connect easily with all types
of people. You also operate intuitively and will
recognise very quickly the potential abilities of people
you meet.
You see the potential for personal leadership in others
and will encourage and support those people to take
up any opportunity to unleash their potential.
5. You Are A Kind Person
You have empathy for people and you can very quickly
tune in to how they are feeling. You do not believe that
by showing kindness that you are being weak. In fact
you see it as a strength because by being empathetic
and kind to others means that you are living your
values and that to you is very important.
Being kind to others is an integral part of your life
philosophy and this is what makes you a great leader.
6. You Are Resourceful
You have this amazing ability to use what ever you are
given to make the best of a situation.People look to
you as the person who can take them out of a crises
because you always seem to find a way.
You are prepared to ask for favours, work hard, stay
focused, be honest and ask for help. You have an
ability to see and prepare for the future because you
embrace the concept of change.
To you change is a constant part of life and you just go
with it. This is a key quality for a leader to have,
because to be resourceful, you have to be motivated
to act quickly – procrastination is like a swear word to
you.
7. You Are A Good Communicator
You know who you are and what you stand for. You
can clearly articulate to others your thoughts and
opinions. Speaking your truth is important to you
however you are also very aware of how others
receive your message.
You are quite strategic in how you deliver what can be
received as “unwelcome news”. Your intention is
always to communicate even if it is a difficult message
with heart felt intent and you strive to ensure that
those receiving the message feel and clearly
understand your intent and what you are saying to
them.
There is no confusion, misunderstanding or unclear
expectations when you are communicating with
others because you work hard to ensure that all
parties are on the same page.
8. You Create And Maintain Great Relationships
You enjoy being around people and you surround
yourself with people who challenge, inspire, teach,
support and encourage you. You are a great
networker because you love connecting to people.
Family and friends are very important to you and you
work hard to have flourishing relationships with all
your family and friends.
People see you as someone who is reliable, honest
and trustworthy – you keep your word and you are not
into the drama of life. That’s just not your style. You
avoid relationships with people who lead lives that are
full of drama and negativity – their energy drags you
down.
You love the positive energy that your relationships
give you as it is this energy that fires you up, inspires
and motivates you. This is such an important quality
for a leader to have and you have it! Congratulations.
9. You Like To Have Fun And Celebrate
This is how Richard Branson lives his life and you
follow a similar life philosophy. Enjoying what you do
in your life both professionally and personally is
important to you and you just love to have fun. You
also love to celebrate your successes and other
people’s successes.
Your optimism and outlook on life is a source of
positive energy and its contagious. People really enjoy
being around you because you inspire and motivate
them with your energy, enthusiasm and love of life.
People always feel good when they engage and
connect with you. A wonderful quality that sets you up
to be an incredible leader.
10. You Are Self Aware And Confident
You know who you are, what you are good at and what
you are not so good at. You accept that you are
accountable for your own actions and behaviours.
You are not into the blame game and will admit you
are wrong or have made a mistake with no hesitation.
You spend a lot of time getting to know you so that
you can be a better person.
You are really comfortable working with others who
are more skilled than you because it means the job will
get done – probably to a better standard than if you
had tried to complete the task alone.
You know your strengths and your weakness and
you’re not afraid to share with people these aspects
about you. You know when you can help and when
you need help and as a result you appear to others as
a confident, articulate and empathetic person.
11. You Are Prepared To Take A Stand For What
You Believe
You know who you are and what you believe in and
you make sure that those around you know also. You
are not afraid to speak your mind. You also believe it is
important to do what you believe is right.
You are committed to your values and you live your life
according to those values. You respect diversity and
difference however you do not tolerate injustice,
intolerance and the abuse of others.
People feel inspired by your commitment and passion
and will seek you out to connect and engage with you.
This is a key quality of a great and courageous leader.
It takes courage to stand up and speak out for those
who are too afraid to.
12. You Tend Not To Panic In Difficult Situations
This quotes illustrates when good leaders shine –
which is effectively leading in challenging and tough
times. By staying calm in times of crises you
demonstrate a key leadership quality. When you are
able to stay calm in a crises situation you maintain the
ability to reason, to be effective, to have empathy and
to connect to how you feel.
An individual who panics can not act or respond with
consideration. They can only react and respond in the
heat of the moment. You do not operate this way
because you know that irrational and reactive
behaviour does not produce effective and reasonable
solutions.
13. You Are A Solution Based Thinker Who Likes
To Think Outside of the Square
You are future orientated in your thinking and that
means that you like to look outside of the square to
search for solutions. Forget the problem you say, lets
look at what solutions are out there for us to consider
on how we can solve the problem.
You have an ability to see and prepare for the future
because you embrace the concept of change. To you
change is a constant part of life and you prepare for it
and you just go with it.
You enjoy the challenge of thinking outside of the
square because it requires you to be creative and
innovative and thats when you feel the most energised
and inspired.
People feel your passion and energy – it is contagious
and people love you for it! When you are in this space
you are operating as the great leader you were born to
be.

TOP 5 DEADLY MISTAKES EVERY KSU UNDERGRADUATE MAKE UNKNOWINGLY

Every day we come across a lot of people, mostly
young individuals with vision for a brighter tomorrow.
But when you sit with them and ask the deeper
questions as to why they make some decisions, they
seem to have no clue to what they have done.
Analyzing the situation, I came across some blunder
that they have committed on the long run, amongst
them are five listed below:

1. THINKING INSIDE THE BOX
As a statement it sounds very okay, but its contextual
meaning in the educational terrain, seems bizarre.
Most students today do not actually know what is
happening around them, as all they seem concerned
about is classes, reading textbooks and materials
given to them by their respective lecturers… so in the
long run, they get good grades and they are promoted
to the next level. Does it actually end there?
Many have forgotten that school is just an eye opener
to what the real world offers. That is why today we
have graduates with 1st class and 2nd class with no
specific skill and they complain of not been employed,
when they cannot even open MSWORD with a mouse
or even shutdown a computer. They would go ahead
to blame the witches of their mother’s and father’s
land for every misfortune when in the real sense they
cannot even hold down a steady conversation on
topics like sports, politics, music, books… think outside
the box and see what the real world has got to offer.
“School will only sharpen you but your skills
will decorate you”
2. LEARNING TO WRITE A Curriculum Vitae
MENTALITY
Knowing the entails of writing a very good CV is not a
bad idea in its own sense. But have you asked yourself
what life will be like without writing a CV? Or is it a bad
idea to have people submitting to you as against you
submitting yours and putting your fate and destiny in
another person hands, when sometimes they would
not even look through it, is that not touching?.
I believe writing a CV in the long run will condition your
mind that you have to be employed by a person which
is not a bad idea in its self, but the truth is you will
never get a better shot at life. But not putting all your
effort into writing a CV, will open a window of
opportunity because then your thinking is not caged
and thus, while you think of a person employing you,
you can also think of creating employment and
employing others, a win-win situation right?.
But come to think of it, the wealthiest and influential
people in the world today never sat down to write a CV
(In doubt? Google is your friend). So friend, instead
use that paper as a drawing board and sketch the
structure of a perfect business plan with the little you
have and see your little efforts become positively viral.
“Do not waste time thinking on how to write
a killer and enticing CV, instead use that
time in thinking how you can make your life
better even with your little resources.”
3. SELF PITY AND REGRETS
The duos are perfect dream assassins. Do not ever
plunge into their arms. For nothing should you regret
where you find yourself, what course you are
studying… or pity yourself for nothing, because if you
do, you will never make it in life.
Do not sit and compare yourself to your neighbors
who are studying engineering, medicine, law or what
have you, for they do not guarantee life security. Your
security comes from within, so please overlook the
bandwagon that scorn your course of study and focus
on building a niche for yourself in any sector that you
find yourself.
Look deep and realize what it is you love doing most
and then go ahead to integrate it with what you are
doing now and if you do not make it in life, doubt my
credibility. Life and wealth is up for grabs to those that
are daring, so let others waste their time in laughter
while it actually becomes your driving force and
motivator.
“Please do not seek admission every year,
but learn a new skill every year”
4. WRONG COMPANY
You want to be a success, please do not be found in
the wrong side of town.
If you should have friends, I recommend people who
are better and well experienced than you or you can
look for people who are on the same wavelength with
you, be it in aspirations and driving factors.
Friends can so influence you that I can say
categorically that sometimes whatever you become is
directly an impact from the actions of the friend you
keep. Show me your friend and I will tell who you are.
Do not mingle with loafers, cultist, jesters, party
captains and lords, smokers and sniffers… or else by
now I think you should know that your life is taking a
headlong fall into the ocean of destruction.
In short, anyone that cannot add to your life in any
way (physically, spiritually, morally, technically…)
should be BLACKLISTED. There should be no room for
complacency, because the road is far ahead and any
extra baggage should be dropped.
“The more friends you have, the more fun
you will have. The fewer friend you have, the
fewer your problems!”
5. NO PLAN
This is the deadliest of all mistakes, because if you
have not set any plans for tomorrow, brother, this is a
free ride to failure, no hidden charges.
We all join the rat race to higher institutions and after
that what’s next? We get hooked up in life’s traffic jam!
The main reason you will fail is when you do not even
have a plan, so study medicine or guidance and
counseling, but without plans, you are NOTHING!
Learn to set goals and plan on how to achieve them.
Set task and work towards them. Do not ever think
that your parents will always be there to pay your bills
or feel you will always get free food and rides. That’s a
big fantasy, wake up!
Make achievable plans and set structures to meet
them, it might take weeks or months, but what
matters is that you are working towards something,
unlike others who are working towards nothing.
“He who fails to plan, has definitely planned
to fail”
