The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has disclosed that the nation’s universities may soon experience crisis if the federal government fails to begin the implementation of the 2009 ASUU-FG agreement, especially the NEEDS assessment agreement.
The Union equally demanded that the federal government reverse the ban on post-UTME as well as the exclusive right granted to JAMB to admit students into tertiary institutions.
The ASUU president, Biodun Ogunyemi made this known while addressing new men yesterday in Abuja.
According to him, the scrapping of Post-UTME and the position of the Federal government on the issue portends serious danger for the quality of education in this country.
He emphasized that since the introduction of Post-UTME, there has been improvement in the quality of students admitted into the universities as evident in the declining drop-out rate and urged the federal government to reconsider its decision and convene a stakeholders meeting before making any policy.

JAMB Admission Posting Is Not The Same as Admission List or Admission Letter - Prof. Dibu
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has stated that the recent list of candidates sent to tertiary institutions contains just the names of candidates who met the national cut-off point within the set criteria and hence qualified for screening in their respective institutions based on the institution's capacity and it's not in any way an admission list.
This was disclosed by the JAMB registrar Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, in a statement on Sunday.
According to him, the admission list will only be made available after appropriate screening of candidates by the institutions.
He equally added that all institutions that have need for more candidates can source from their omnibus printout earlier sent to them by the board in order to ensure that available spaces are adequately utilised.
In an earlier statement on Saturday credited to the Deputy Director of Press and Public Relations in the Ministry of Education, Mr. Ben. Bem-Goong, it was stated that the role of JAMB is to conduct the UTME, compile the list of candidates whose scores meet the cut-off marks (180 and above) and send same to the universities.
The institutions, will now short list the candidates, using the agreed guidelines and thereafter return the short listed candidates to JAMB for verification of compliance with the guidelines and issuance of JAMB admission letters.

"From the desk of the Students Union Government, We support no warring party. Our interest and agitation is that Kogi State University Students are called back to classes and as such we are intertem with anyone who supports our cause. That is to say, we are asking our fellow students to support the managements decision that all students of Kogi state University Anyingba resume on Sunday 24th July 2016. Recall that the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, directed the Vice Chancellor of the Kogi State University, Anyigba to reopen the school on Monday.
This was after three months industrial action by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities of the institution.
Governor Bello said having met the major demands of the lecturers, they are expected to return to classes.
He said his government will continue to place premium attention to education, urging the different heads of tertiary institutions in the State to deepen the culture of patriotism and hard work among their staff members.
According to the Governor, the Treasury Single Account will soon come afloat in the State, stating that public accountability will remain the hallmark of his administration.
Bello said having paid six months salaries in just six months into his tenure, his government should be trusted by the lecturers.
The Governor promised to look into cases of over- taxation of lecturers in the past, saying cases of unjust taxation will be redressed, adding that the approval on the subject matter, which was handed over to him, was for tax waiver.
He directed full scale audit of all tertiary institutions in the State.
Responding, the heads of the tertiary institutions thanked the Governor for paying four months salary arrears owed by the previous administration.
They said the gesture is a signature of the Governor’s commitment to tertiary education in
the State.
At this point students are a tad confused as to why they should resume when ASUU hasn't called off the strike just yet. Its however safe to resume around 24th of July as their are strong indications that the strike will be called off(officially) before then.
And by the way, its PAAU now, not KSU

Sex and Relationship : 5 stupid fights to avoid in your relationship
We all have gotten into unnecessary arguments and fights with our partners where we end up with regrets. Couples fight over silly issues like these:
1.) "Why do you work a lot?"
People don’t understand that when your partner has already hard an exhausting day at the office, it's so wrong to start a fight about his work hours when he returns home. Marriage expert Sheri Meyers says, "Rather than fighting about your S.O. spending too much time at work, make the time you do have together even more precious and special by filling it with the three A’s: attention, appreciation and affection. " She adds that, "When you put your focus on the good things that you value in your relationship, the time you do spend together will be more fun, loving and fulfilling."

2.) "We don’t have enough sex"
Being hostile with your partner about how often you have sex or your desire to try something new in the bedroom won’t change anything even though you have a valid point. According to marriage and family therapist, Amy Begel, "Arguing about sex never works. Sex is the most intimate of connections between two people but you need to realize it’s primarily a non-verbal art form." She adds that fights brings the 'wrong kind of energy” and “kills the spark” you share as a couple. Instead, "imagination, seduction, affection, great conversation and well-placed flirting are more likely to positively transform a couple’s sex life."
3.) "I am right and you are wrong"
This is the most common fights between couples nowadays. It's difficult dealing with a partner who always needs to be right. Maybe you should try telling your spouse that you need to agree to disagree when you are little self- righteous. "The truth is neither one of you is 100 percent right and neither one of you is 100 percent wrong,” Sheri Meyers says. "The task at hand is to stop competition (me vs. you) and start cooperation (you are, after all, a team). Instead of looking for what’s wrong, search for what you can agree on."
4.) "Why can't or don't you call me while you're at work?"
WTF! He/she should drop whatever they are doing to call you? What for? Even though it's kind and thoughtful to check on your spouse during the day, it's also hard to do so between meetings and a super busy day. "It might be that she can’t multitask her attention at work and it’s better to wait until she’s away from the office grind to talk,” said Carin Goldstein, a marriage and family therapist based in Sherman Oaks, California. "So if you really need to chit- chat during the day, call a friend who has some free time and save yourself a no-win argument with your spouse."
5.) "I'm the only one keeping this relationship
afloat"
Stay clear of arguments about who’s the better parent, spouse or breadwinner. There’s no room from one-up- manship in a healthy marriage, says Begel. "Fights like this mask underlying tensions that need to be addressed openly, without kicking the other person in the process,” adding, "These are important challenges that need to be worked through — your feelings of neglect or lack of appreciation matter — but don’t make it a competition."

Sex and Relationship : 3 very easy ways to know he's unfaithful
Even though there is never a real moment of
knowing when someone is unfaithful, some
people just have instincts about a cheating spouse. They could also be wrong. So, it's rather a series of picking up signs and reasoning that the signs may lead to a possibility of unfaithful behavior. Moreover , getting absolute evidence is perfect and that may include these three factors below:
1. Confession to cheating:
This is when one partner actually opens his mouth to accept to being a cheat. This is perhaps the best way to know he's unfaithful. Admitting to being unfaithful can mean two things: He loves you and wants to end his secret affair to be with you or he's tired of hiding and wants you gone so he could continue his secret romance.

2. Catch them red handed:
This also an absolute way to knowing he's been cheating. If you get to see your man kissing or making love to another girl or you find out via his private emails or text messages that he's prophesying love to another person and even praising her for the sex last night. Another thing is for you to see photos of them in bed or even a sex tape! These proofs enough!
3. Unreasonable lies:
Most people find it hard to lie. These group of men end up confessing to cheating by not even knowing they did. As they say, "one lie always leads to another and finally you even forget the truth." Some women can detect when their men are lying. For example, "you ask your man if he went out on Valentine's Day while on a trip and he says "no babe, I was home all day". Yet his girlfriend posted a video on social media showing them both having an intimate time together in a completely different state." What the hell!?

Traits That Young Millionaires Have in Common
The world’s idea of who and what a millionaire is has changed. When we conjure up an image of a very wealthy person, we are imagining less and less a stodgy old man sipping branding in a wing back armchair, and instead, more and more what we envision is a young, energetic entrepreneur. The internet has paved the way for anyone with a good idea and the ambition to see it through to become rich and it is increasingly common for the successful people among us to be young and driven. So what do the young millionaires we are getting so used to seeing have in common? They all share the following 10 traits.
1. They Act Fast
A sense of urgency lies at the heart of any young millionaire. It isn’t enough to have a great idea, you need to have the will to act on it before anyone else has a chance. If Mark Zuckerberg had decided to sit on Facebook and develop it slowly over a few years instead of a few months, he would have been left in the dust. Instead he put his idea into action almost as soon as he formed it and the result has been massive success.
2. They Build Strong Teams
Even the people who seem to have built their empires on their own have had the help of a good team. It is usually the case that they built that team themselves. When Steve Jobs founded Apple he wasn’t alone, his partners gave him insight into the things he didn’t understand and allowed him to grow the business in all directions at once.
3. They Leverage Their Success
Success breeds success and young millionaires aren’t afraid to keep the ball rolling. When they see a good idea, they jump on it. It is no coincidence that Google now owns Youtube and countless other web applications that we can’t imagine the world without. The leaders of forward-thinking companies aren’t afraid to go beyond their own comfort zone and use the money they have to generate more money.
4. They Are Independent Thinkers
Founder and CEO of Alibaba, Jack Ma, held a meeting when he decided to start his company. He invited nearly two dozen friends to his home and asked them what they thought of his idea. All but one told him not to quit his day job. He chose to ignore them and pursue it anyway. He is now a billionaire. Not being afraid to stand alone is a common trait among the young and self-made wealthy.

5. They Think Big
Young millionaires dare to dream big. They see the possibilities that lie behind great ideas and aren’t overwhelmed by the scale of what they are chasing. The truly successful individuals take things one step at a time and work at what they can handle, but their eye is always on the larger goal.
6. They Follow Their Passion
Most people who achieve success early in life do it by following a path they care about and are interested in. Just because an idea is good, doesn’t mean it is inspiring. When Steve Jobs was trying to convince John Sculley to leave his comfortable job at Pepsi to come take over the business side of Apple, his sales pitch was “Do you want to spend the rest of your life selling sugar water, or do you want to come with me to change the world ?” That is passion incarnate.
7. They Are Focused
When asked what makes Mark Zuckerberg such a great leader, Facebook employees time and time again reference his focus. Mark Zuckerberg ’s goal is to connect the world in ways no one else has ever dared to imagine, and every decision he makes is unflinchingly taking him closer to that goal. Having a clear vision is a key to success for any young leader.

8. They Love Learning
Just because they are rich doesn’t mean they think they have all the answers. Young millionaires in every field share a lifelong love of learning. They hold open meetings where they can get advice from people at every level of the organization because they understand that you never know where the next great idea will come from.
9. They Love Teaching
The best way to get better at what you do is to teach the tricks of the trade to someone else. Successful young people share their vision and teach their team members what they need to do to succeed. It not only makes everyone smarter, it builds camaraderie and gets everyone on the same page.
10. They Aren’t Afraid to Fail
Finally, and most importantly, young millionaires aren’t afraid to fail. Bill Gates once said, “It’s fine to celebrate success but it is more important to heed the lessons of failure.” Keeping an open mind and being willing to learn from your mistakes is the only way to keep moving forward.

Harsh Life Lessons Everyone Should Learn In Their 20s
Your 20s can be the most challenging years of your life. They can also be some of the best. There are also vast differences between a 20-year-old and a 29-year- old, and when there are so many changes that happen in your 20s, you might start to wonder if you will ever have it all figured out. But I’ve got some good news — nobody has it all figured out! Here are 20 life lessons everyone should learn in their 20s.
1. You don’t have everything figured out
I want to remind you of this again. I used to feel so much pressure to figure it all out. We can be so hard on ourselves when we don’t believe we are living the life we are expected to live. Give yourself a break.
2. You don’t have as many friends as before
As you progress through your 20s, you just won’t have as many friends as you used to. Your friends’ interests may change. Both your interests may change!
3. It’s hard to settle down (even if you want to)
Life begins to pull you in many directions. Maybe you want to try living in a new city. Maybe you have a new job opportunity that relocates you to a new city anyway. It’s normal to be drawn to many opportunities.
4. Life doesn’t get easier
While it may be exiting and new to venture out on your own, it doesn’t come without its challenges. The truth is most of life is a grind, and in your 20s you are figuring out the best ways to get through it.

5. It’s really hard to save money
Financial experts and pundits are always telling people in their 20s to put money away now because by the time you are 65 you will have a nice nest egg. The truth is, for many 20 somethings, it’s just hard to save.
6. Debt is your worst enemy
I could write an entire article on debt in your 20s. Not only are many 20-year-olds burdened with student debt, but credit card debt can also be troublesome. The numbers on student debt alone are staggering.
7. You change jobs, a lot
It’s tough to be raised with a sense of entitlement. We were given trophies for everything. In your 20s, it’s okay to change careers and try out new things. It still is wise to stay at a job for as long as possible but don’t ever feel like you are stuck.
8. You might move back in with your parents
I certainly did. I am lucky my parents accepted me back in after I’d hit some hard times. I’m not the only one who did. According to the New York Times, “One in five people in their 20s and early 30s is currently living with his or her parents.” Remember to make a plan to move out!
9. Loving yourself is hard
It’s difficult to remember to love yourself when you are trying to figure out who you are. It may sound corny, but actually tell yourself you love yourself. I wish I had done better in this area. Even if other people don ’t, remember to love yourself first.
10. Relationships make you crazy
You fall in love. You break up with someone. You think you’re in love and realize that other person isn’t. You think you know what’s important to you but then it changes. Your 20s are full of crazy relationships.

11. The real world sucks
You learn a lot of harsh truths when you hit your 20s. Often we are naive to the struggles our parents went though when we were kids. The more you discover in your 20s, the more you know it just isn’t much fun to do the real world stuff.
12. You can’t party like you used to
As I continue to get older, I understand this more and more. The recovery time from drinking, staying up late, or dancing the night away only increases with age. Also, remember to get plenty of sleep.
13. Your company doesn’t care about you
This is another problem of feeling entitled but it’s also just as true. Companies really care about one thing — the bottom line. You are just helping them reach that bottom line. As much as companies praise team work and culture, the reality is that you are replaceable.
14. College might not have been worth it
If you went to college, you probably had a great time. Most of us have degrees that either we will never use or we will realize we are no longer interested in the field we chose.
15. It sucks to feel older
I know some will say, “You’re still in 20s or 30s, that’s not old!” Well, yes, I get that. However, you do start to notice your body is changing. You get sore easily. You’re not as flexible as you once were. In your 20s you will notice these things for the first time.
16. You make bad decisions
In our 20s we get caught up in making the “right decision.” We already feel like we’ve made enough mistakes and don’t want to disappoint anyone again. One bad decision won’t ruin your life, but really do try to make good choices.
17. It’s okay to try new things
Your 20s is the perfect time to take risks. Travel the world. Learn something new. Be more vulnerable. I don’t care what anyone says, your 20s is the best time to get out of your comfort zone.
18. You continue to compare yourself to others
You compare yourself to your peers and think some of them have everything figured out. Even though they appear to have figured things out, the reality is they are probably just as scared as you.
19. Peer pressure doesn’t go away
While your friends may not dare you to do something, you still feel the pressure to be a doctor, lawyer, make more money, etc. Often, these pressures just don’t align with who we are, so we become angry with ourselves. Begin to accept yourself just the way you are.
20. There is no magic bullet to success
I used to think that I’d figure it all out in my 20s and then I’d be a success. Remember that all of us take a unique path to success and there is no one right path to take. I survived my 20s and so can you. There is no doubt they are a confusing, strange, and lonely time. But they can also be a lot of fun. I accomplished a lot in my 20s, no doubt. I wish I wasn’t so hard on myself and was more accepting of who I was.
Take these 20 harsh realities as a reminder that we all struggle with similar things and that your 20s is only a small sliver of a long and prosperous life.

10 Things Good Leaders Say Every Day
When it comes to leadership, there are many qualities that can and should be emulated if your goal is to succeed in a leadership role. But genuine leadership requires a comfortable balance and knowledge of boundaries. There are certain things good leaders say that keep their team trusting in them and moving ahead. Everyone would like to be a good leader, someone who is well liked and respected. Learning the distinction between being on friendly terms with your coworkers and being the type of boss that everyone enjoys working with is important. There are many ways to get your team to follow your lead without coming off as “bossy” or unapproachable. Your attitude will always dictate the working atmosphere, so it’s wise to learn how to maintain a good and positive attitude. Learning how to connect professionally with your team is always an important asset. So what are some things good leaders say to show that they are listening and thinking for the team? 1. “What’s your take on this?”
In order to be an effective leader, knowing & appreciating what others think is important. Using this phrase will give you an idea of the other mindsets you have to work with.
2. “I have trust in you”
If you make others confident that you trust
them, they are more likely to want to ensure nothing shakes this confidence. As a result, they’ll try to do their very best for you.
3. “I am proud of you”
This statement obviously doesn’t apply when work is poorly done. But if your team has tried its best and you know it, then simply acknowledging that you are proud of their effort is a better point of focus than harping on the negatives.
4. “Thank you” and “Please”
Treating others with respect will usually go a long way in being an effective leader. It’s hard to hold a grudge or be unpleasant to a leader who practices the simple art of saying please and thank you. After all, it’s something we teach children from the very start.
5. “That’s wonderful, let’s give it a go”
Encouragement followed by freedom to try an idea is another important leadership quality to extend. Failing to see the possibilities in ideas that come from others shows your team that you are not a team player or an encouraging leader.
6. “Where can I help?”
Even if you are not really needed in the actual execution of the project at a particular stage, extending the offer to help will warm the hearts of your team and they will respect you more for offering your support.
7. “I apologize”
There is nothing more humbling than a leader saying “I am sorry.” While some may look upon this admission as a sign of weakness, you would be wise to practice this acknowledgment if you want to win the respect of your team. If you are wrong, say so and move on.
8. “I am here if you need me”
Keeping open communication is always a good idea. Don’t be the type of leader who is high and mighty. If your team feels you are unapproachable then they won’t come to you with problems, thus delaying the smooth flow of projects.
9. “I am not perfect and neither are you”
Be the first to acknowledge that no one is perfect, including yourself. Once your team feels comfortable they will strive harder to learn from their mistakes, instead of just trying to avoid making mistakes all along. Letting them know that you don’t expect them to be perfect will motivate them to explore their curiosity.
10. “I can’t do it without you”
Making everyone feel valued is definitely the best way to get everyone committed and dedicated to the project at hand. When you make it clear to your team that you value their contributions, that appreciation will act as a motivator.

How To Memorize Things Quicker Than Other People
People like to joke that the only thing you really “learn” in school is how to memorize. As it turns out, that’s not even the case for most of us. If you go around the room and ask a handful of people how to memorize things quickly, most of them will probably tell you repetition. That is so far from the truth, it’s running for office. If you want to memorize something quickly and thoroughly, repetition won’t cut it; however, recalling something will. The problem is that recalling something requires learning, and we all learn in different ways. Below are some universal steps to mastering the art of recalling so that you can start memorizing a ton of data in a short amount of time. Before we start, you need to establish something: are you an auditory, visual, or experiential learner? If you’re an auditory learner, then the most effective way for you to grasp information is by hearing it. As you can imagine, visual learners favor seeing something in order to learn it, and experiential learning types are more akin to learning from events and experiences (or, doing something with the material). Most of us are a combination of at least two of these categories, but I will denote which step is most favorable to your most agreeable learning style so that you can start to memorize things quickly and efficiently.
Step 1: Preparation
To optimize your memorization session, pay close attention to which environment you choose. For most people, this means choosing an area with few distractions, though some people do thrive off of learning in public areas. Figure out what is most conducive to your learning so that you can get started. Next, start drinking some tea. I could link you to mounds of scientific studies that confirm green tea as a natural catalyst for improving memory. Mechanically speaking, our ability to recall information comes down to the strength between neurons in our mind, which are connected by synapses. The more you exercise the synapse (repetition), the stronger it is, resulting in the ability to memorize.

As we get older, toxic chemicals will damage our neurons and synapses, leading to memory loss and even Alzheimer’s. Green tea contains compounds, however, that block this toxicity and keep your brain cells working properly a lot longer.
Step 2: Record What You’re Memorizing
This is especially useful if you’re trying to memorize information from a lecture. Use a tape recorder to track all of the acquired facts being spoken and listen to it. If you’re trying to memorize a speech, record yourself reading the speech aloud and listen to yourself speaking. Obviously, this is most helpful for auditory learners, but it’s also handy because it ensures that you’re getting more context from a lecture that will help you learn the information faster.
Step 3: Write Everything Down
Before you start trying to recall everything from memory, write and re-write the information. This will help you become more familiar with what you’re trying to memorize. Doing this while listening to your tape recorder can also help you retain a lot of the data. This is most useful for experiential learners.
Step 4: Section your notes.
Now that you have everything written down in one set of notes, separate them into sections. This is ideal for visual learners, especially if you use color coding to differentiate between subjects. This will help you break everything down and start compartmentalizing the information being recorded in your brain.
Step 5: Apply repetition to cumulative
memorization
For each line of text, repeat it a few times and try to recall it without looking. As you memorize each set of text, be cumulative by adding the new information to what you’ve just learned. This will keep everything within your short-term memory from fading. Keep doing this until you have memorized that section and you are able to recall the entire thing. Do not move on to another section until you have memorized that one completely. This is mostly visual learning, but if you are speaking aloud, then you are also applying auditory.
Step 6: Write it down from memory
Now that you can recall entire sections, write everything down from memory. This will reinforce everything you just have just learned by applying it experientially.
Step 7: Teach it to someone (or yourself)
The most effective method for me when I was in school was to teach the information to someone else. You can do this in a variety of ways. You can lecture the knowledge to someone sitting right in front of you (or the mirror, if you can’t convince anyone to sit through it) and explain everything extemporaneously. If what you’ve learned needs to be recited verbatim, then do this in front of someone as well in order to get a feel for what it will be like to recite the text to the intended audience. My favorite method for this is creating tests for other people. Take the information and predict what questions will come out of them. Use multiple choice, matching and so on to present the data in test format, and see how someone else does. All of this is experiential learning, since you are actually practicing and manipulating the concepts you’ve learned.
Step 8: Listen to the recordings continuously
While doing unrelated tasks like laundry or driving, go over the information again by listening to your tape recordings. This is certainly auditory learning, but it will still supplement everything you’ve shoved into your short-term memory.
Step 9: Take a break
Finally, let your mind breathe. Go for a short time without thinking about what you just learned and come back to it later on. You’ll find out what you really know, of course, and this will help you focus on the sections you might be weakest at.

On The Heels of A Successful Protest Action ,Govt/ASUU Blind Pride Game Might Still Linger On
In the past three(3) months I've been waking up everyday wondering if the Kogi State Government(and everyone attached to it) are just been intentionally stubborn and stone headed or they are naturally dimwitted, and right in the midst of my lonely wonders came this report from the Daily Trust ; on the heels of the protest on thursday morning Special Adviser to the governor on Media and
Strategy, Mallam Abdulkarim Abdulmalik told reporters this :
"The ASUU grouse was premised on falsehood. They were owed five months arrears, four months has been cleared which represents 80 percent of the obligation owe to them. Only 40 percent of the bailout was released to government so where did they (ASUU) expect the government to go and take the balance from?
"Primary school teachers are there, secondary school teachers are there. They have not gotten as much as ASUU has gotten. Therefore, the students' action is ill motivated because the students should rather be fighting their lecturers for refusing to return to classes afer collecting four months salary arrears. Between ASUU and the government."
Now,am not quite sure if he understands the essence of that protest action. We simply don't care about what's up with the bail out fund,or how many teachers have been paid in the state. We have made it known that we are downright tired of staying athome for months when we are supposed to be in school learning. We don't care about what's going on in the state,we just don't care, just like ASUU don't care about what's going on in the state,we too don't care, afterall the education is not free,we paid fees to acquire it . These ASUU members are the same set of people who weren't paid salaries for "5 whole months" and left to live on little to nothing as they do their jobs and teach students, for five months. Now they're demanding their pay and its not proper, really, how logical is that. Call them selfish,self-centered and self- absorbed, but their irghts remain their rights. And now we've suffered for all that for 3 months.
He furthered his comment by adding this :
"The truth of the matter is that there are unseen hands behind this unrest and government is appealing to these students to remain rational. However, government will not joke with the interest of the students and members of the public because the government feels the pinch of the difficulty the parents of the students are going through"
Unseen hands....really...no comments
Just some minutes ago, in a terse reaction on social media, the acting chairman of ASUU, Dr. Daniel Aina had this to say :
“the reverberation of concocted trajectories and tantrums at our persons belong to the dustbin. We speak to issues and love the people. Truth is like a cork- always afloat. To keep it submerged, energy MUST be expended. No matter for how long, when the expenditure of energy ceases, it will come afloat. Play your record to the world. ASUU KSU did not say it signed any MoU with government.
“The govt team felt embarrassed by the action of the students. According to them, the students insisted on seeing ASUU and government talking, school to reopen on Monday and government to pay outstanding salaries owed.
“To the first count we said we are always available for dialogue. There is no time we have refused invitation.
“To the second we told them we aren’t the school management. The onus of reopening the University lies on the management.
“To the third, we told them that if the outstanding salaries are paid, within two days we would reinstate our services.
“They started politicking – we will pay one month within ten days and pay the rest later. We said they should pay one immediately and let us sign an MoU for the outstanding. They then revealed to us that the ten days cannot be guaranteed and that they cannot sign an MoU with us. We informed the government team that they have summoned us because of the problem they are facing.
“We volunteered to help out to pacify the students. The summary of our speech to the students was that they have made an historical mark, which should suffice for govt to take a cue and do the needful but that nothing substantial have come out. We tried to attribute it to the absence of his Excellency, so they should be patient. ASUU KSU is currently on no pay no work action. Let the government do the needful and we’ll resume work. FALSIFICATION AND PROPAGANDA WILL NOT WORK!!”.
Well,from where I stand it looks likely that this pride/ego game by the Kogi State Government and ASUU may linger on a bit longer,even after the commendable heroics shown by NANS,NAKOSS,KSU SUG and every KSU students that took part in the protest action on Thursday, except off course their are strategies put in place to further make our voices heard,which the SUG PRO indicated on his facebook timeline 16 hours ago ;
"Yesterday message was so strong, history made and glory to the students. We gave no audience to any government representatives that came, all we needed is for Bello and ASUU chairman to reopen Kogi State University with immediate effect; though ASUU chairman came and addressed us after his meeting with the government representatives. ASUU chairman statement is on record and we holding them responsible to the chairman's statement. He said that the government has asserted to their MOU and that his Excellency is not in the state to sign. However he pleaded with us to give them ten days from now to hold a congress. Students are advised to stay in their various houses as the students union government is high in spirit, hence we not waiting for any ten days but we giving ASUU from today to monday to put their houses together and should in case nothing is done at the end of Monday we shall strategize and take a more dreaded step on Wednesday 20th July 2016."
