WAEC Set to Use Electronic Means In Marking Its Theory Questions

The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has disclosed that it has introduced e-marker in examination process, beginning with the ongoing November/December examination nationwide.

According to the Head of WAEC Nigeria National Office, Mr Olutise Adenipekun, the innovation will help in the assessment of theoretical questions such that marking will no longer be done manually but electronically.

He mentioned that following this development, candidates will no longer be able to take their theory questions home after their examinations, as answer booklets will now be merged with the question papers.

He however, stated that the development does not mean that teachers who were engaged by WAEC in the manual marking will now be disengaged but rather will be used to handle the electronic-marking project.

HOW TO AVOID HARASSMENT AS A FEMALE STUDENT IN KSU

The issue of sexual harassment of female undergraduates is not a new one, and it is appalling that it is gradually becoming the order of the day. Often times the victims have a portion of the blame to their names; they bring it upon themselves unknowingly and are left to live with the stigma for life. These days it is seen that girls have turned their schooling to a fashion contest where they display their wardrobe, all in a bid to be seen as ‘’Big girls’’, thereby drawing unnecessary attention to themselves and this makes them deviate from the original reason behind their coming to school.

In recent times, decent dressing has become a thing of the past, most girls want to look ‘’sexy’’ to get attention from guys ,they attend lectures in skimpy outfits ,heavy makeup and dresses that leave them almost naked and expect not to distract the class and male lecturers, this lecturers keep such students in mind, the rash ones insult them publicly, the calm ones call them aside while the shameless ones enjoy the view and cease any opportunity that comes their way to get them into their beds. No one is saying girls shouldn’t dress nicely; of course they should but it should be done in moderation.

Another issue is that of girls that crave for attention and get into unnecessary conversations with their lecturers and flock around them frequently. Although, they might not do this with any evil intent but one thing leads to another and some perverted lecturers take advantage of them, this can only occur when there is too much familiarity between the two parties without set boundaries and if the boundary set is trespassed, such student should deem it fit to report such lecturer to the appropriate authorities instead of waiting until the damage is done.

Another way to avoid sexual harassment is to study hard , that way you have no reason to go and beg a lecturer to give you unmerited additional marks to make you pass because most of these perverted lecturers see this as an opportunity to extort students, In most cases they ask the guys for cash settlement to make them pass and ask the girls for sex and often times they give in out of desperation, students who study hard can’t fall victim of such and if in any case they feel their scores are being tampered with, they are to report to the appropriate authorities and such cases will be looked into and justice will be served.

Some girls are well known for sleeping around with lectures ,this kind of girls shouldn’t be people you hang out with because “birds of like feathers flock together’’ when you are seen with such people, the lectures assume you are like them and may begin to make advances and like they say “prevention is better than cure’’, so why not stay safe instead of having to think of possible solutions when you get into such problems . To avoid sexual harassment dress decently and moderately, study hard, avoid unnecessary attachments to lecturers and hang out with the right people.

REASONS WHY KSU/PAAU (CHRISTIAN) STUDENTS DON'T GO TO CHURCH

Fear driven presentations and demonstrations often force youths to go to church while under the shields of some dominating forces, mostly parental. But not every young person will set going to church as a priority once he or she starts riding solo and under no real supervision.

We’ve heard some pretty strange statistics about church goers, most of which are female adults and least of which are the young and vibrant youths who are expected to keep close to God when they are still young and active.

1. They Believe Church Is Boring – Since it’s nothing like a party where ‘Lil Kesh’ would keep screaming a sinful phrase into their hearings, they don’t like it. They don’t fancy those left and right shifting dance steps vis-à-vis clapping in two’s at intervals. But let it be known that churches were never meant for entertainments. Maybe now that churches are singing ‘Godwin’, they might consider that.

2. They Believe The Church Is A Waste Of Time – The thing is, every one knows the message, “Jesus brings salvation”, “Jesus Is coming soon” etc. So why bother going to church to hear some repetitions of old sayings? This is also one of the reason why youths stay back from church, to them, they know the message the church is relaying.

3. They Don’t Have Clothes – The church was never meant to be fashion runway. They just do not understand this. They are always hell-bent on looking fly to church, to impress who? Maybe that Lady smiling at the microphone as she leads the choir sing. So, as long as there is no new designer dress, no church.

4. They Believe The Church Wants Their Money – A couple of Naira that will go a long way in sorting Bread and Beans at that local restaurant is too big for them to drop for God. They believe they will save some cash by staying back home instead of going to church. Even though there are truly some churches that talk more about offering and tithe than the kingdom of God, it is well.

5. They Believe Life Is Better Without Religion – This is an assertion but with that perspective, they tend to neglect church since its the “pillar” of religion. Going by the norms and commandments of the church by being a Christian are hectic for others. Some of them don’t care much about religion but a better relationship with God.

6. They Believe They Don’t Have Time – They believe some hours they will spend in church is better spent on cramming some aspects of that 201 course. Or probably spent tweeting and gathering twitter followers, or better still, to wash clothes, which is what they mostly do.

7. They Believe Worldly Engagements Are Sweeter – As long as there is power supply in the hood, larger percentage of the youths will shun church, you will hear sayings like “Devil already won today’s battle, but the war isn’t over yet”. Especially if the Super Eagles have a Match on that day, the church will be unconsciously scanty.

ways to ask your man for something and get it

Image result for picture of woman asking her partner for something

Relationships always involve giving, sharing and reaching compromises.

Given the fact that men are generally believed to be the stronger of the pair and hence, often the provider, it is not uncommon that women usually have things to ask, demands to make, and changes required of their significant other.
Below are 3 sure ways that will help you get whatever you want anytime you make the request of your man.

Go straight to the point

In an attempt to avoid looking so direct and demanding, some choose the other option of ‘stylishly’ making the requests. This is done by dropping hints, and communicating their desire for that particular thing in no express terms.

Not going straight to the point when making requests could pose a problem in relationships (HecticParents)
If you want to get an answer, you need to stick to the point rather than communicating through subtext. Often times, the intention is even lost on your man during the indirect asking and hint-droppings. Hence, make a request for the thing that you actually want, or you just might not get it.

Don't guilt trip him

The point here is to discourage you ladies from shaming your spouse or partner into getting what you want.
Sure, taking him on a guilt trip might get you want, but that’s more down to him trying to save face or maintain his. You really do not want that to be the standard in your relationship.
Nobody wants to feel like they're doing the wrong thing all the time. So instead of saying to your boyfriend or husband, “Why haven’t you done this or that for me in six months?” you could instead say “It would mean a lot to me if you did this, or if you did that.”

Show appreciation

This is almost the simplest thing ever to do, but sadly it is the one taken for granted the most.

Appreciating the little thing a man does for you will only make you both happier and stronger together (ForHarriet)

It is sometimes said that men are like dogs in the sense that they loved to be praised, just the way you would pat your dog on the head for being of ‘good behaviour’ or for some similar act that’ll be considered ‘good behaviour’ for a dog.
Though the comparison with dogs doesn’t really sit well with me, I have to agree with the logic behind it. Men indeed love to have their egos massaged, they want to feel like they are doing things right. An important part of any relationship is to regularly let your partner know you appreciate the things he does, that you don't take those things for granted.

How do you express your love?

Image result for picture of happy black couple

Expressing your love differs from person to person, and according to Dr. Gary Chapman, a Christian counselor and author, people can be divided into five different categories depending on how they express their love.

He wrote The Five Love Languages in which he divides these ways into the following categories:
Words of Affirmation
This is when you say how nice your partner looks, or how great they cook, or what an amazing person they are. It's all about building up your partner, making them feel good and reassured.
Acts of Service
If you or your partner show love by doing things for each other, then you fall into this category, however its an easy trap to fall into if you do these acts begrudgingly.
Things like helping around the house, hanging the washing, going to the market, or putting the kids to bed need to be done with joy in order to be perceived as a gift of love, Chapman says
Quality Time
Some people place spending time together as the most important way to show love.
Not so much just sitting there on your phones, it's about connecting while doing something, even if you are just chilling.
Receiving Gifts
Giving or getting a gift from your partner can be the best way you may express love, or like to receive it. It doesn't need to be expensive or flashy, it's more a way of showing you care or are thinking of each other.
Physical Touch
If you always like to be physically affectionate, and not just sex, hugs, kisses, back rubs etc then this is likely where you fit. This physical contact is very reassuring and meaningful to someone with this love language.
So now you know the categories, figuring where you fit is easy.
As marriage.about.com says, ask yourself:

How do I express love to others?
What do I complain about the most?
What do I request most often?

Get your partner to do the same, it could be that you are in different categories, but as Chapman cautions in his book, "We're not talking comfort. We're talking love. Love is something we do for someone else. So often couples love one another but they aren't connecting. They are sincere, but sincerity isn't enough."
So you need to get out of that comfort zone to meet each other's emotional needs, while people tend to naturally give love in the way that they prefer to receive love, there needs to be a middle ground.
So once you have figure out each other's love languages, it's time to communicate in them.
If your partner needs words of affirmation, surprise them with some sweet messages through the day on why you love them.
If it's quality time they need, despite your busy lives, commit to a date every week where you hang out together, and leave the phones at home.
If your love loves physical touch then get some nice massage oils and surprise them with a massage at the end of their busy day.
If gifts are the way to your lover's heart, then you don't need to blow the budget, it's about the thought.
Also, when it comes to birthdays or Christmas, make sure you put effort in, even if its organising a nice dinner.
If they like things done for them, use your initiative, be equals in the household, you can mop the floor, cook dinner or even asking how you can help will go a long way.

Things Emotionally Intelligent People Don’t Do

The restaurant manager who speaks with poise and grace to the patron complaining loudly about the wait service. The levelheaded friend you call in your greatest times of need. The compassionate but composed rescue worker who aids victims after a natural catastrophe. The partner who angers rarely, forgives easily, and assumes accountability for their actions. The successful CEO who balances her profession, her family responsibilities, and her personal hobbies with equal measures of calm and confidence.
What do these people have in common?
In two words: Emotional Intelligence. A relatively new trend in the realm of pop culture and psychology today, Emotional Intelligence — or EQ — has existed since the beginning of time. According to Psychology Today, the preeminent site for mental health education and information, Emotional Intelligence is defined as an aptitude for identifying and managing emotions, and the emotions of others. It consists of three primary skills: the ability to analyze interior emotions and the feelings of those around them, the capacity to apply emotions to tasks, and the facility to take control of emotions — whether it’s managing their own before they veer out of control, or having the strength and capability to make another person smile, settle down, or handle a situation appropriately.
Those with high Emotional “IQs” have been proven to enjoy more prosperity in life. Whether they’re in a social or professional environment, they thrive. Studies demonstrate they have fewer mental health issues, including depression and anxiety. Their personal lives aren’t train wrecks, precisely because they’re lived from the point of thoughtful — and meaningful — decisions. They outperform others, excel at their jobs, are happy in their relationships, and consistently work towards attaining positive results in all aspects of life. So, the question is, what don’t they do?
Here are 7 things emotionally intelligent people, as a rule, avoid:

1. They don’t get caught up in other people’s drama.

One of the hallmarks of Emotional Intelligence is empathy, and those with high EQs extend it to everyone they cross. But there’s an enormous difference between displaying empathy towards a friend or loved one and allowing another person’s rage or misery to incense, dominate, or merely influence one’s well-being. Think of the histrionic behavior of your co-worker who is “distraught” not because she’s going through a break-up but because her friend is. Or that cousin of yours who, instead of focusing on her individual personal crises, purposefully seeks out people who are distressed so that her problems disappear via distraction — a habit so ingrained she can’t seem to address her the complications in her own life.
Emotionally intelligent people, on the other hand, listen carefully, provide gentle, loving, but authoritative advice, and offer assistance. But they don’t permit others’ lives and reactions to rule their own.

2. They don’t complain.

Whining and grumbling implies two things — one, that we are victims, and two, there are no solutions to our problems. Rarely does an emotionally intelligent person feel victimized, and even more infrequently does an emotionally intelligent person feel that a solution is beyond their grasp. Instead of looking for someone or something to blame, they immediately think of how to constructively address the dilemma. They also know that their complaints influence the emotional responses of those around them, and instead search for ways to bemoan the dissolution of a relationship or a disappointment with a friend in private, effective ways — whether it’s taking a yoga class, meditating alone at a park, or simply getting their feelings out on the page.

3. They don’t always say yes — to others and themselves.

Like empathy, self-control and conviction are sure signs of an emotionally solid person. Emotionally intelligent people are well-aware that a second glass of wine will lead to negative consequences the next morning, just as they know that an invitation to go on a spontaneous weekend rendezvous will detract them from fulfilling their preexisting commitments. They are definitive about their decisions, rather than saying “I don’t know, maybe?” or “Perhaps I’ll skip the gym today,” which invites doubt — and with that, heightened anxiety, even depression.
The more often emotionally intelligent people exercise their right to say no, and the more frequently they rely on their willpower, the freer they are to concentrate on their ambitions and overall well-being.

4. They don’t gossip.

Emotionally acute people sidestep gossip as determinedly as they skirt drama. To involve themselves in scandalous talk, they know, is to shame another for a supposed error — and an emotionally intelligent person understands that all humans are equally deserving, and that what others might perceive as a mistake is an opportunity for improvement.

5. They don’t count on others for happiness or confidence.

Emotionally intelligent people are self-sufficient in all manners of life, including their contentment and peace of mind. They have learned that to bank on someone else making them feel joyful or worthy is to put themselves at risk for disappointment and hopelessness. Rather, they take their emotions in their own hands and find hobbies that delight them, strive for achievements that will lead to a sense of self-worth, and search within for love and acceptance.

6. They don’t engage in negative self-talk.

While few of us are entirely immune to thinking (or saying) pessimistic statements that begin with “I” (“I’m unattractive,” “I should have done better,” “I’m pathetic”), emotionally intelligent have the ability to curb cynical thoughts before they fall down the proverbial rabbit hole. Instead, they rely on facts to come to conclusions. For some, it’s a mere glance at their experience and accomplishments outlined on their CVs; for others, it’s the appearance of a clean and organized house, or an internal analysis of what they’ve done right.
After all, emotionally intelligent people acknowledge that negative thoughts are just that — thoughts — just as they recognize that the derogatory interior voices they hear are theirs to turn down, tune out, or silence completely.

7. They don’t dwell on the past.

People who exist more in their past than in their present are susceptible to a barrage of mental and spiritual grievances, from regret and nostalgia to agitation and trepidation. Emotionally intelligent people honor their pasts — the people they have loved, the mistakes they have made, the opportunities they’ve eschewed — but are mindful of the importance of living squarely in the here and now.

By learning from the past (instead of dwelling on it), the emotionally intelligent have the power to inform their present — without diminishing their ability to advance or harness three of the most vital emotions of all: Self-satisfaction, gratitude, and hope.

Actions You Should Take to Get Rich at an Incredibly High Speed

Do you want to be rich? Many people believe that being financially successful is pure luck, but there are many things that anybody can do to become rich.
From changing your mentality to extra learning, check out 10 actions you can take to get rich at an incredibly high speed.

1. Think of four ways you could make money outside of your job.

If you want to be rich it is important to stop thinking “I earn enough” and to start thinking “I could earn more.” Write down four ways you could earn money outside of your main job. From creating an e-book to selling on Amazon, there are many ways you could increase your income that would only require a little effort and time.

2. Learn in your free time.

To move up in your career and become rich, you must master new skills and knowledge in your area. Instead of just focusing on putting effort in at work, it can be very useful to learn more about your area in your free time. There are many ways you can do this, from reading books to listening to pod-casts to attending classes and seminars. Remember that the more skilled you are, the more you deserve to earn.

3. Set specific financial goals.

“If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.” This phrase is very true when it comes to finances, with many people believing that their financial goals are to pay the rent and bills. If you are already paying your rent and bills, it is time to set higher financial goals, such as saving, paying off debt or increasing your annual income. Mentality is important; always think big when it comes to your finances.

4. Make money your friend instead of your enemy.

Money pays for your home and it is has the ability to give you security, so it is important to view money as your friend and not your enemy. Write down 20 things you are glad your money pays for, such as your home and your new shoes. If you struggle to see money in a positive light, remind yourself that money can either open doors or closes doors—it is your choice.

5. Solve a problem every week.

Rich people choose to focus on solving problems, rather than complaining about them. This attitude helps to improve your solution thinking, opening your eyes up to new financial opportunities and chances that could benefit you. Write down a financial problem once a week, such as raising your income or figuring out how to lower the price of your grocery shop, and come up with a practical solution to solve the problem. Keep going until you have improved all aspects of your financial situation.

6. Get a library card.

A library card is excellent value for money and opens up new worlds of knowledge. Having a library card gives you the option to expand your knowledge in your chosen area without spending too much, which is the perfect tactic to help you earn more money within your career.

7. Do something that pushes you out of your comfort zone.

Many people are too scared to make uncomfortable decisions, but rich people are often more willing to. From leaving your job so you can start your own business to asking for a raise, many choices that seem initially difficult will be financially rewarding. Do something that makes you feel uncomfortable but may improve your life situation. It is pleasant to be comfortable, but it is much better to improve your life and financial situation.

8. Track your financial progress every month.

If you are bad with spending, it doesn’t matter if you are rich or not. You could have a high wage and still be left with little to nothing by the end of the month. Write down your income, as well as all of your out-going expenses. Is there anything that costs too much which you can cut out? This gives you a chance to see the bigger picture and allows you to make changes that will improve your finances.

9. Prioritize your goals.

You probably already have financial goals, but if you having too many can mean none of your goals are met. Instead of simultaneously trying to save up for a car and a holiday while paying off debt, decide which goal is your most important. Focus on achieving that, and then move on to your next goal.

10. Start investing wisely.

If you have no experience of investing, don’t start to invest without knowledge. Speak to a professional about how to invest well, or read up on the subject on-line. When you are educated and knowledgeable about investing, make small investments in business you know will be lucrative.

Reasons why you must pursue a masters degree

Many people wonder if it is really worth it to pursue a Masters degree after their first degree. And to be honest there are several views on the topic.
For most people the major motive behind going for masters is the bigger paycheck and better job security., Yet are there other reasons you should pursue a masters degree apart from the financial benefits?
Below are 7 reasons:

1. In-depth knowledge:
While your first degree might be due to norm or parental pressure, deciding to pursue a masters degree in any course of study is sure to give you an in-depth knowledge in that field. You will be able to speak with authority and even improve on the way things are done in that field of study.
2. Job Opportunities:
While this may look like an obvious benefit, many do not understand that this is a great advantage. As a masters degree holder in any course of study, you are automatically qualified to serve as a consultant in that field. this means that you have the freedom to choose from a wide range of job offers, unlike bachelor degree holders.

3. Free Education
Most times scholarship opportunities and work study programs exists for those who want to pursue a masters degree, so most times you do not have to spend as much as you actually think. also some programs organize a stipend for masters degree students.

4. It Offers the opportunity to Change Careers
Some may not be happy with the degree they have from their bachelors. Therefore the masters degree gives you an opportunity to make a change to a more suitable course, one you prefer and enjoy.

5. Respectability

The respect you get from people also make pursuing a masters degree worthwhile. When someone says i have a PhD in this field, it marks him out as an intellectual and an authority. people will tend to seek his opinion on matters relating to that field.
