Simply put, strike actions in university are very disruptive. Its takes student from the learning environment back into their comfort zones.
Strike makes student forget their academics most of the time, and recovery takes time and work.
The Academic staff union of universities( Kogi state university chapter) is on strike at the moment, its no news infact. The same happened last year and lasted two months but then it was in February,at the milky begining of the semester, this time its different. The strike presently came some days before we were supposed to start exams. Its came at a make or break period. Students of ksu are in a dangerous situation at the moment but its even more dangerous to students in 100 level.
This is because you are going to be writing your first exams in ksu, which is the base of what you'll graduate with as a student. Its not just the starting point of you study proper, but its the foundation of your future, and we are all aware of what happens to a building when the foundation is weak.
The path you'll follow through out your time in ksu depends on your first exams, and also the path you'll follow in your life depends on your foundation. Whether you'll become a third class graduate,or 2'2 or 2'1 graduate,or a first class graduate,or a even a pass graduate depends on how you lay your bed during and after this strike.
Therefore you are adviced to study your books during the strike. You might not necessarily read 24/7 but dedicate some few hours of your day to study in other understand better and come out with flying colors.
Starting with a bad result such as third class or having carry overs means theirs no how you are going to graduate with a first class except for a miracle, which is rare in ksu. So study well now if you know what's good for you.
He who have hears let them hear, the strike is positive to some extent and negative to some extent, therefore use this little strike time to your advantage, don't let it destroy you foundation. A word is enough for the wise.
