The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU has objected to the Federal Government’s directive that tertiary institutions should stop the conduct of Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, Post-UTME, for candidates seeking admission.
The position of the union was made known by the ASUU President, Comrade Biodun Ogunyemi.
He stressed that allowing tertiary institutions to regulate their admission process will improve the nation's quality of education.
According to him, it is not right for the government to decide the method to be used in screening candidates for admission as this will not only amount to encroachment on the autonomy of these institutions but also affect the level of sanity and quality in the system. He however stated that the FG can come in by putting in place the necessary guidelines as part of their oversight functions.
On the issue of refunding money paid by candidates for admission screening, the president of ASUU stated that it may not be easy for institutions to refund such money as it may have been diverted to other purposes.
He mentioned that tertiary institutions over the years have been under-funded and charging candidates for screening is one of the ways institutions raise fund and called on the government to live up to its responsibilities by providing an enabling environment for teaching, learning and research in these institutions.

Association of VCs Demands Autonomy In Deciding Admission Modalities
The Secretary General of Association of Vice-Chancellors of State-Owned Universities, Michael Faborede has appealed to the Federal Government to allow the senate of the different tertiary institution in the country to prescribe modalities for admission.
He made this call during the 4th Biennial Conference on the Committee of Pro-Chancellors of State-Owned Universities in Nigeria held at the Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
According to him, the federal government should be careful in making pronouncements on educational matters that would affect the states and private universities.
He further called on the pro-chancellors to support vice-chancellors in their effort towards building a credible university system

Walking Helps Heart and Brain
Regular aerobic exercise such as walking may protect the memory center in the brain, while stretching exercise may cause the center — called the hippocampus — to shrink, researchers reported.
In a randomized study involving men and women in their mid-60s, walking three times a week for a year led to increases in the volume of the hippocampus, which plays an important role in memory, according to Dr. Arthur Kramer, of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in Urbana, Ill., and colleagues.
On the other hand, control participants who took stretching classes saw drops in the volume of the hippocampus, Kramer and colleagues reported online in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
The findings suggest that it’s possible to overcome the age- related decline in hippocampal volume with only moderate exercise, Kramer told MedPage Today, leading to better fitness and perhaps to better spatial memory. “I don’t see a down side to it,” he said.
The volume of the hippocampus is known to fall with age by between 1 percent and 2 percent a year, the researchers noted, leading to impaired memory and increased risk for dementia.
But animal research suggests that exercise reduces the loss of volume and preserves memory, they added.
To test the effect on humans, they enrolled 120 men and women in their mid-sixties and randomly assigned 60 of them to a program of aerobic walking three times a week for a year. The remaining 60 were given stretch classes three times a week and served as a control group.
Their fitness and memory were tested before the intervention, again after six months, and for a last time after a year. Magnetic resonance images of their brains were taken at the same times in order to measure the effect on the hippocampal volume.
The study showed that overall the walkers had a 2 percent increase in the volume of the hippocampus, compared with an average loss of about 1.4% in the control participants.
The researchers also found, improvements in fitness, measured by exercise testing on a treadmill, were significantly associated with increases in the volume of the hippocampus.
On the other hand, the study fell short of demonstrating a group effect on memory - both groups showed significant improvements both in accuracy and speed on a standard test. The apparent lack of effect, Kramer told MedPage
Today, is probably a statistical artifact that results from large individual differences within the groups.
Analyses showed that that higher aerobic fitness levels at baseline and after the one-year intervention were associated with better spatial memory performance, the researchers reported. But change in aerobic fitness was not related to improvements in memory for either the entire sample or either group separately, they found.
On the other hand, larger hippocampi at baseline and after the intervention were associated with better memory performance, they reported.
The results “clearly indicate that aerobic exercise is neuroprotective and that starting an exercise regimen later in life is not futile for either enhancing cognition or augmenting brain volume,” the researchers argued.
The study was supported by the National Institute on Aging, the Pittsburgh Claude D. Pepper Older Americans Independence Center, and the University of Pittsburgh Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. The authors said they had no conflicts.

Why Do Onions Make Us Cry?
For some people, slicing a raw onion is no big deal, but for others, it causes a stinging reaction that results in tears and mild discomfort.
What’s to blame for this teary reaction?
Enzymes in the onion that release a pungent gas when you slice into it, and when the gas comes into contact with your eyes, it forms sulfuric acid, which is responsible for that telltale stinging sensation. "The more pungent the onion is, the more likely it will make you tear up," says Irwin Goldman, PhD, department chair and professor of horticulture at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
That means that yellow onions popular in cooking are the biggest culprits, and sweet, mild Vidalia onions are the least likely to trigger tears. Luckily, onions are the only type of vegetable that cause this crying reaction, because of their unique sulfur compounds.
So why do onions make you well up, but don't seem to make your partner weepy at all? Dr. Goldman says it's probably due to the individual chemistry of your eyes: Some people have little or no reaction to sulfuric acid, while others have a stronger sensitivity. And while some people find that wearing contact lenses reduces their onion-related tears, others may find it makes no difference.
Dry Up Those Onion Tears To minimize onion-triggered weepiness, Goldman recommends freezing or chilling onions before cutting them up.
The cold temperature causes a slower release of the enzymes, which helps reduce your reaction. "You can also start chopping an onion from the top end — where the skin comes together — instead of from the bottom end, where the stem is," he adds. Enzymes are more conentrated in the bottom of the onion.
If onions cause you to tear up excessively, consider wearing eye protection when you slice them. " Swimming goggles really do work," says Goldman. Or just delegate the chore to another cook in the kitchen.

Why Do We Talk in Our Sleep?
Has your partner ever referred to a conversation that occurred the night before -and you can't remember a thing you said? Unless it's after a wild night out, the cause may be somniloquy, better known as sleep talking. Sleep talking falls under the category of parasomnias, which are disruptive sleep disorders. Other parasomnias include sleepwalking, bedwetting, and night terrors. Although it can be startling, sleepwalking is generally nothing to worry about.
"Sleep talking is benign for most people," says Russell Rosenberg, PhD, who is the chairman of the National Sleep Foundation in Atlanta. "No one knows exactly what causes it." A lot of nighttime chitchat can cause you to feel tired the next day, but it's generally not a cause for concern. It's also quite common: although statistics vary, about 60 percent of us will have at least one episode of sleep talking, according to William Kohler, MD, the medical director of the Florida Sleep Institute in Tampa.
The When and How of Sleep Talking Sleep talking tends to occur during two different stages of sleep: During stage two, when it's just a stream of thoughts not accompanied by a dream, and during rapid eye movement (REM) sleep, when it's accompanied by active dreams.
During REM sleep it's easy to arouse a person out of sleep talking, but during stage two, it's very hard to wake someone up, and they likely won't remember what they were talking about. And even during REM sleep, what a sleep-talker is saying may not be related to what's happening in their dream. "With sleep talking, we may have active dreams — we may be speaking about what we're dreaming. On the other hand, we could be dreaming one thing and speaking something completely different," says Dr. Kohler.
Sleep talking can vary in frequency and intensity, and can be caused by a variety of factors, which may be as simple as drinking alcohol before going to sleep. "Having a high fever, being under emotional stress, taking certain medications, and having underlying sleep problems like sleep apnea can all cause a person to talk in their sleep," says Kohler. Sleep talking may also run in families, he says. There aren't any specific medications that have been singled out to cause sleep talking.
What Does All That Chitchat Mean?
Although you may be tempted to read a lot into what your partner utters in their sleep, experts don't recommend taking too much stock in those sweet nothings. "It's not a reflection of what's going on in your life," Rosenberg says. Kohler agrees: "There's a myth that secrets can be revealed with sleep talking, but that's not really accurate.
The things people are talking about can potentially have nothing to do with reality." And as many parents know, sleep talking is common in kids. "This is more of a brain development issue in children," says Rosenberg. "Most kids will grow out of it." If your partner or child is chattering away in their sleep, "let it play itself out — just observe and make sure they are safe," recommends Rosenberg.
So when would sleep talking actually be a cause for concern? Only if you feel overly tired during the day, if your nocturnal chatter is disturbing your partner, or if your sleep talking is accompanied by any other "acting out," such as sleepwalking. If you're feeling sleepy all the time, a sleep specialist can help determine the best course of action to ensure you get better sleep.

Sex and Relationship : Tips can help you create and maintain a healthy relationship
Communication is a key part to building a healthy
relationship. The first step is making sure you both
want and expect the same things—being on the same
page is very important. The following tips can help
you create and maintain a healthy relationship:
Speak Up. In a healthy relationship, if something
is bothering you, it’s best to talk about it instead of
holding it in.
Respect Your Partner. Your partner’s wishes
and feelings have value. Let your significant other
know you are making an effort to keep their ideas
in mind. Mutual respect is essential in maintaining
healthy relationships.
Compromise. Disagreements are a natural part
of healthy relationships, but it’s important that you
find a way to compromise if you disagree on
something. Try to solve conflicts in a fair and
rational way.
Be Supportive. Offer reassurance and
encouragement to your partner. Also, let your
partner know when you need their support.
Healthy relationships are about building each
other up, not putting each other down.
Respect Each Other’s Privacy. Just because
you’re in a relationship, doesn’t mean you have to
share everything and constantly be together.
Healthy relationships require space.

Sex and Relationship : What Your Sign Says About How Likely You Are to Cheat
While there are so many factors that could contribute to whether or not you'd cheat on your partner, if you're an astrology geek, you might have a hunch your sign plays a factor. To help figure it out I talked to Cosmopolitan.com's own Maressa Brown to get the real deal on how much your sign influences how likely you are to stray.
Aries: You're super competitive, so if you feel like your partner doesn't think you're hot AF, you might turn your love life into The Hunger Games. Not in the way that someone will die, but you might get into dicey territory while you're trying to make people fight for you. Be careful.
Taurus: You are known for being stubborn as hell and loyal AF, so once you commit to someone, you're in for life. Still, if you feel like your partner isn't giving you all the rose petals and sexy One Direction mixes you deserve, you might look for that in someone else.

9 Things Successful People Do To Always Get What They Want
SOURCE: LIFEHACK.ORG
One of the best decisions I’ve ever made was the
decision to take on the job of hosting my own weekly
radio show where I find some of the most successful
people in the world, and bring them on my show to
ask them about what they did to become so successful
in life and business. In this article, I’m going to share
with you some of the key take-aways I’ve picked up
from talking to – and reading about – thought leaders
from various fields about the things successful people
do to always get what they want. Ready to dive in?
Let’s go.
1. They know what they
want.
The first and most
important thing that
successful people do to
always get what they want
is so simple that most
people totally forget about
it: they figure out what they
actually want. When you
know what you want, you
can get clear about what
you need to do to
actually get what you want.
(If you’re unsure about
what you want in life and business, I’d suggest picking
up some career and self-improvement books to help
you gain some clarity and focus).
2. They’re assertive.
Successful people know that they need to be
both bold and sincere. Balancing these two
characteristics is the essence of assertiveness. Oh,
and by the way – being assertive is not a natural talent
someone is born with. Assertiveness is a learned
skill. And anyone can do it. Including you!
3. They learn.
You may have heard the old saying, “great leaders are
readers”. For the most part, I’d say this is totally true.
Let me give you an example … On my radio show I
regularily ask successful people about their habits
which lead towards success. You want to know
something really neat? Every single one them reads
books. Successful people read and learn as much as
they can about what they want; so that they
can get what they want. If you’re low on time,
subscribe to a book summary site to get the core
concepts of the books in your industry quickly.
4. They make things meaningful.
One of the most powerful things successful people do
to always get what they want is that they make things
meaningful. That is, they ensure that whatever
endeavor they decide to embark upon is meaningful to
them (and not necessarily to anyone else). They know
and understand that it’s only worth it if it matters.
5. They ask.
One big thing that successful people always do in
order to get what they want is this: they ask. Most
people are too shy to ask for what they really want.
Don’t be like most people. Here’s an exercise you can
do to get over it: next time you’re buying something,
regardless of what it is, ask for a discount. Just do it.
The worst case scenario is that you’ll get a chuckle
from the Barrista at Starbucks. The best case scenario
is that you’ll get comfortable with negotiating when it’s
time to buy your next car.
6. They take action.
Insight without action is useless. Successful people
know that in order to always get what they want,
they’ve got to take massive action. One of the most
powerful exercises I’ve ever discovered is this: never
leave the sight of a goal without taking some kind
action towards its achievement. In other words: as
soon as you decide you want something, or as soon as
you set a goal of some kind, do something – anything –
that shifts you closer towards getting it.
7. They use their time wisely.
Have you ever heard of NET time? It stands for “No
Extra Time”. For example: when you’re driving, and
sitting in traffic, are you listening to Mylie Cyrus? Or
are you listening to an audiobook? Successful people
take NET time seriously. Get yourself some audiobook
so you can start listening to the best business and self-
improvement books available – all while you’re on your
way to work in the morning.
8. They choose to lead.
You don’t need to have formal authority to become a
leader. You just need to choose yourself. All successful
people know this. And so should you. Don’t wait for
anyone else to do it, because the truth is, that most
people want to be led anyway. So just step up and
claim authority. Be the leader you wish you always
had.
9. They contribute.
Successful people know that in order to get what they
want, they got to be willing to help other people get
what they want. What happens when you stop doing
your job? What happens when you stop caring about
your school work? What happens when you become
emotionally disconnected from a relationship? You
suffer, that’s what happens. Successful people know
and understand that in order to succeed, they need to
contribute. They need to add value to the lives of
others. They need to do their best, so that they can
become the best.
So, now what?
I hope this article has re-ignited the fire that
you already had within you to be successful at any
endeavor. The reason why I’m stressing the fact that
you’ve already got everything you need to succeed and
get what you want, is because you wouldn’t be reading
this if you weren’t already motivated to be successful.
At the end of the day however, all the insights in the
world are worth absolutely nothing unless you
combine them with action. When it’s all said and done,
it’s totally your decision what you do with this list and
how you apply it to your life and career. But if I may,
here’s what I would suggest you consider as you get
started doing the things to help you succeed:
Review this list of the 9 things successful people do to
always get what they want and then compare it
with where you currently are at each one of these 9
things. Rate yourself in each one of the 9 things.
One of the best decisions I’ve ever made was the

Things You Need To Drop To Stay Motivated
You are constantly struggling with staying motivated.
You start things but you never complete them. The
excitement that you had in the beginning of your
journey slowly fades. Does this sound familiar?
In order for you to stay motivated you have to get rid of things that are weighing you down. Below you will find 10 things you need to drop in order to stay motivated.
1. You will need to drop the sense of entitlement
You are not entitled to anything in this world. We all have “started from the bottom.” Work hard to accomplish your goals. You got this.
2. You will need to drop stress
Stop stressing yourself out over things you can’t
control. Reduce stress by keeping your mind, body and
soul active. Exercise, play sports, get yourself a
companion (animal), write, etc. We all have to deal with
stress in our life. The key is how you deal with it.
3. You will need to drop negativity
Focus on the positive and drop negativity. Dropping
negativity means that you distance yourself from
negative people and negative influences. Distance
yourself from people that do not care about your
dream.
4. You will need to drop comparisons
“When you are content to be simply yourself
and don’t compare or compete, everybody
will respect you.” – Lao Tzu
Stop comparing yourself to other people. Focus on
your life. Live your life. Comparisons can make you
envious and jealous of others.
5. You will need to drop time management
issues
“Don’t watch the clock; do what it does. Keep
going.” – Sam Levenson
A lot of people struggle with time management and
blame this for the lack of motivation. Drop the time
management issues and learn how to manage your
time better
6. You will need to drop impatience
Impatient people usually do not follow through with
their plans. Do not become this person. Understand
that it takes time, effort and energy to stay motivated.
Visualize success on a daily basis.
7. You will need to drop the lazy attitude
“The secret of getting ahead is getting
started.” – Mark Twain
Drop the lazy attitude and focus on your work ethic.
Give 100% day in and day out. Become the person that
people enjoy being around. Remind yourself that you
are destined for greatness. Get up earlier. Do the
harder tasks first.
8. You will need to drop the ungrateful mindset
“An ungrateful man is like a hog under a
tree eating acorns, but never looking up to
see where they come from.” – Timothy
Decker
Drop the ungrateful attitude and be thankful for the
life that you are living. Be thankful for where you are
and where you will be in the future.
9. You will need to drop the serious mentality
Put a smile on your face. Laugh a little bit. Okay, so you
have dealt with a few things in your life. But still,
please stop being serious and live life. Enjoy the
presence of others. Spend time with your family.
Progress towards a bigger goal by making smaller,
realistic goals.
10. You will need to drop the excuses
Drop the excuses. Nobody wants to hear them. Stop
looking for people to blame. Stop pointing a finger at
others and start pointing a finger at yourself. Look at
the person in the mirror and address what is holding
you back.

The Most Powerful Career Advice That Every PAAU Student Needs To Know
Everyone turns into a Yes-man to get a job after
college. That is why many people go through their
careers hating their job or jumping off from one
company to another. People go to college to get a
degree and to pursue their passion and interest.
Unfortunately, once they step outside the university
they make choices different from the things that they
want to be. They seem to become oblivious of their
own goals.
Uni doesn’t only prepare you for a job rather it’s a preparation for life. A college diploma will open doors of opportunities. It will show you how to get there. But remember, your destination — your future success — are yours to choose. Whether you’ve tailored a long-term plan or you see new possibilities for your future career, these powerful pieces of career advice
will empower you as you encounter difficulties in
facing reality.
“Enter every activity without giving mental
recognition to the possibility of defeat.
Concentrate on your strengths, instead of your
weaknesses… on your powers, instead of your
problems.”- Paul J. Meyer
Life in the real world is different from being a student.
Challenges are inevitable as well as failures. However,
if you focus on your strengths and use your
weaknesses to improve yourself, nothing is impossible
to a determined person.
“Success consists of going from failure to failure
without loss of enthusiasm.”- Winston Churchill
You are young. It’s okay to make mistakes. If you get
into a wrong career path, or you meet a bad boss, or
you’re dissatisfied with your job, it’s okay that’s
normal. In the span of your career journey, you will
surely make mistakes and fail many times. You’re still
inexperienced so enjoy exploring life. Fix your
mistakes and learn from them, then move forward-
That’s the joy of learning.
“Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of
value.”- Albert Einstein
Everyone wants to be successful in life. But instead of
running behind success, aim for excellence. Strive for
it and eventually you’ll become successful.
“Think big and don’t listen to people who tell you
it can’t be done. Life’s too short to think small.”-
Timothy Ferriss
Dream big and act on it to make it happen. Do what
you’re passionate about and embrace it. Whatever you
enjoy doing make it your profession. Satisfy your inner
interest before others. It’s you who can make your
dream come true and not them. Take a chance and
trust yourself.
“In between goals is a thing called life, that has
to be lived and enjoyed.”- Sid Caesar
You can concentrate on your goals but do not forget
to have life. Study effectively and work hard but don’t
forget to relax and enjoy a bit. Go out with friends and
have quality time with your family. Pursue your goals
while living a balanced life.
“The future belongs to those who believe in the
beauty of their dreams.”- Eleanor Roosevelt
Envision yourself living to your dream and figure out
how you can achieve it. If you dream to become a
business person, teacher, doctor, nurse, engineer, etc.
then plan how you’re going to reach it. No matter what
life throws at you, keep going and live to your purpose.
“Choose a job you love, and you will never have
to work a day in your life.”- Confucius
Do something that you have talent for and you love
doing. Using your interest as your basis in finding your
career path will help you determine the right direction
towards your goals. If you love your profession, you
will have a great time doing the job and less likely to
experience stress.
“Too many of us are not living our dreams
because we are living our fears.”- Les Brown
There will be moments when you doubt your own
ability to succeed. You lose enthusiasm and drive to
keep going. But instead of letting yourself defeat by
your own fears, why not give yourself a fair chance to
do everything that you can. You never know where
your courage will take you.
“Desire! That’s the one secret of every man’s
career. Not education. Not being born with
hidden talents. Desire.”- Bobby Unser
Having a strong desire or will is what keeps you from
achieving your goals. If you desire to succeed in life,
you can do everything to make your goal a reality. This
gives you hope, inspiration, and driving force to move
forward and accomplish something.
“To accomplish great things, we must not only
act, but also dream, not only plan, but also
believe.”- Anatole France
A dream without action is dead. Having dreams
without believing on it is useless. If you dream make
sure it’s big, plan on how to get it and be confident
that you can reach it. If you desire to get a particular
job, even if it seems impossible to achieve, never stop
believing and do your best to get it. You can start from
taking small steps until you reach goal.
“We become what we think about.”- Earl
Nightingale
While you’re young, have a clear vision of your future.
Even though you’re still clueless with your destination
just think of what you wanted to become. Fill your
mind with positive thoughts, dreams, and beliefs so
that it would manifest into your life. Stop worrying,
stop complaining. Do not let the idea of “what if’s”
corrupt your dreams. You might not control
everything that may happen to you but you have a
choice to take it or leave it behind.
“It is good to have an end to journey toward; but
it is the journey that matters, in the end.”- Ernest
Hemingway
It’s good to have a goal so you know where you’re
heading at. However, aside from focusing on your
destination, it’s the long journey that will matter in the
end. The goal of most college students probably is to
have a good career. You study hard to complete your
education and acquire the skills needed for your job
application. Of course, you can set your eyes towards
your goal but do not forget everything you’ve learned
and experienced while you’re on your way there.
“Opportunities don’t happen, you create them.”-
Chris Grosser
Successful people didn’t wait for opportunities to
knock on their doors. They created it that’s why they’re
reaping what they have sown. Apply this truth to your
life and you’ll definitely accomplish everything on your
own.
“Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is
what keeps you going.”- Jim Ryun
Staying consistently motivated in reaching your goals
will eventually become your habit. If you continuously
do things properly then you’ll keep going until you get
to your destination. When you’re motivated, you have
a reason to do what you love.
“Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The
most certain way to succeed is always to try just
one more time.”- Thomas A. Edison
Failures happen to anyone and yes, it happens all the
time. Don’t feel hopeless after failing many times. You
just have to understand perfectly the purpose of
failure in your life in order to realize that it is
something you need to succeed. Giving up will stop
you from achieving greatness and making a difference.
So instead of thinking about quitting, why not take it as
an opportunity to make things way better?

Ways To Make A First Class In PAAU
NOTE : LESS THAN 10% WHO SEE THIS POST WILL READ IT TO THE END BECAUSE MORE THAN
90% OF THOSE WHO GAINED ADMISSION ARE NOT GOING TO MAKE A FIRST CLASS
It is true that the method of assuming academic success is not applicable to everybody. However, there are specific principles that you can follow in order to guarantee academic success during your time at the University. The department or course notwithstanding, earning a reputation for yourself with that CGPA or aiming to be the best in your faculty or the university depends on most of these frequently overlooked but important cues.
#9 – Take Extensive Notes
Probably the most tedious of our top 10 9, maintaining
a consistent habit of taking good notes is hard to do.
In our present world, many students find it difficult to
maintain their focus long enough to record the
information given out during lectures. The advantage
being that when time comes to write a quiz/test/exam,
you’ll be glad you have that pile of notes to review and
refresh your brain with. Taking good notes is an act of
learning in itself. This small but potent act goes a long
way to creating the foundation for a quintessential
and unparalleled understanding of the material being
covered.
An excellent method is also to scribble down
everything that seems useful in some manner, almost
as if you were transcribing the lecture. Later, transfer
and rewrite the notes into an understandable form in
another notebook. This will cement the information
into your mind, moving the material from your short
term memory into your long term. Time and again, we
seem to understand a lecture when it is delivered.
Unfortunately though, a week later or two we seem to
lose almost every point that was made. Note taking is
one of the best ways to consolidate short term
memory into long term.
#8 – Obtain Old Exams Question papers and
Assignments from your senior colleagues to
procure a satisfactory idea of what subject matter the
instructors are most likely to test you on.
They are even more useful because you can attempt
the exam/assignment as a check of knowledge,
identifying weak areas that you must take into further
consideration or re-study. Last semester, I was
studying gluconeogenesis in Medical Biochemistry and
a senior colleague of mine happened to pass by. He
appeared interested and proceeded to supply me a
couple of past questions. One was “Gluconeogenesis
is not necessarily the reversal of Glycolysis. Explain”.
Propitiously, in my end of semester examination, it
was asked exactly as I was given in Number 2. It was
worth 10 marks.
One common tactic many students use for science
laboratory classes is to find a graded laboratory
notebook from a previous year. Laboratory work is
notoriously difficult with respect to time limitation and
what is expected from a student’s lab report. Having a
format to follow along with is a phenomenal help.
Knowing where to avoid mistakes is fundamental as
well.
#7 – Begin Studying For Tests and Exams
EARLY
Between academics and your social life, time is not
something you will have in ample quantity throughout
your stay in University. One cardinal act you should
always make time for is studying early for exams.
There’s nothing worse than leaving all of the studying
for the night before an important test or exam. The
stress causes you to panic and you won’t perform as
well as you normally would if you had studied early
enough. Studying a little bit during the semester will
not only make you better prepared but will also
remove most stress you’d have if you leave your
studying for the last minute.
Early exam studying allows a student to identify weak
spots in their understanding and to prioritize their
studying accordingly. Just imagine studying until the
early morning of the day of your exam only to find
you’ve completely ignored a section that you have little
or no understanding in. Don’t let that happen.
#6 – Use Your Time Wisely in between classes as
well as before and after school.
There are many opportunities to sneak in some studying or homework
that many students either don’t realize or just don ‘t
use. I’ve known people who would study on the keke
during the ride to and from school. I’ve also known
people that would combine the time waiting for a
lecture to begin with their study time!
Just bring your notes and instead of pinging or
chatting endlessly with friends. You get a workout for
your body and for your brain! Always keep your notes
handy and use any spare time for simple review to
make sure you’re on top of the material. All of those
small moments you fill with studying will really add up
to a solid understanding. You’ll discover that you will
require less studying when exam time arrives. That’s
huge.
#5 – Get Your Questions Resolved
Information in your field of study is cumulative and
the last stuff you learned will be instrumental in
understanding the next stuff! So anytime you don’t
understand something or have a question about the
subject matter, get your question answered as soon
as you can. Whether by asking during class, after class,
or by asking a fellow student – do it. You need to stay
on top of the subject matter in order to be ready for
the next stuff that’s coming. Don’t let the holes in your
understanding be knowledge pits for the future!
#4 – Get To Know Some of Your Classmates
This one can be extremely demanding for many
people these days. Meeting people is becoming
increasingly difficult in a world of social stigmas and
fears of disapproval. I’m not going to tell you how to
meet people. But when you do, the benefits will
become apparent. Having someone to lean on for
notes from a lecture that you missed, being able to
bounce questions and ideas off of somebody, and
most importantly having someone to check your
assignment answers with before you hand it in, are all
spectacular reasons to swallow your nerves and start
saying “Hi! My name is….” to the people in your class…
and don’t have too many female friends
#3 – Explore Other Class Resources
Many class outlines will have “optional” reading listed
along with the required textbook. This is often a HUGE
opportunity for easy marks and guaranteed success in
the particular class. Lecturers are humans just like me
and you. Their job is to relay the required material and
then test you on it. If they’re using the required
textbook as reference for the learning part, where do
you think they’re going to get the material for the
testing part? If you say “the required textbook”, you’re
probably wrong! Lecturers will often take exam or test
questions out of their favorite textbooks, resulting in
quality assessments from a trusted source. Those
favorite textbooks are often listed as optional reading
material on the course outline. Also don’t forget the
mighty Internet. Use Wikipedia and Google as well to
find extra (often better!) resources on whatever it is
that you’re struggling with.
2- Pre-Read Lecture Material
One night I was bored. Very bored. I grabbed a
textbook for a class whose lecture I had the next
morning and I began reading from the point we
stopped at in the previous lecture. It was difficult to
understand and took a lot of focus to push through it
but the next day in class while listening to the teacher,
it crystallized in my mind and was easy from then on.
It had the added benefit of being committed to my
long term memory giving me a better understanding
of the material. It makes sense if you think about it. I
was essentially learning the material twice. First, alone.
Secondly, with the help of an expert. These combined
into a solid understanding that I still possess to this
day.
I suggest that you do this for every class. Also, you
may use this technique for anything that you deem to
be very difficult or abstract. That way you’ll have a
great head start on understanding and mastering the
hard stuff, leaving plenty of time for filling in the gaps
with the easy stuff!

everything that seems useful in some manner, almost
as if you were transcribing the lecture.

This Are Ways To Ways To Turn a Conversation Into a Potential Friendship
We have all been in situations where we meet someone that we feel we would really hit it off with as a friend, but then we end up walking away without having made a closer connection.
It’s tough to know how to change your interaction from just a casual conversation to a potential friendship, without seeming awkward or needy. These ten tips will help you connect more deeply in the initial minutes of a conversation, and ensure that you’re not left regretting that you didn’t try hard enough to make a new acquaintance into a new friend.
1. Ask open ended questions.
It is difficult to connect with someone if you ask them questions that can be answered in two words. There is no chance for a connection to develop. Instead of asking, “Where do you live?” trying asking “What do you think of your neighborhood?” Instead of “where did you get that shirt?” try “What do you think of the new store in the mall?” The longer you talk, the more chance there is for a connection to grow.
2. Find things in common.
If your potential new friend interned at Credit Suisse, discuss that your brother works in finance. If she is all about reality TV, tell her which shows you’re into. Friendship is built on commonalities.
3. Use emotion words.
Sticking to the facts makes a conversation dry and boring. You want to capture your new acquaintance’s interest by using emotion words so they can connect with you on a genuine level. Instead of going into detail about where you stayed on your trip to London, talk about how anxious you felt when you almost missed your connection. Instead of describing how long your commute is, discuss how much you dread that hour of your day.
4. Think of who this person reminds you of.
If this person reminds you of a friend, someone on TV, or a public figure, tell them, as long as it isn’t insulting, of course. People love to hear who others think they look or act like. It is flattering that someone thinks about you enough to compare you to someone that they know and like.
5. Say positive things.
Don’t complain or whine about your life or discuss how upset you are by friend or work drama. This makes a potential friend wary of getting too close. It can seem like you’re always creating drama and negative energy, which is a turn off.
6. Don’t gossip.
Many people will gossip right back, but then won’t be interested in becoming a closer friend to you. In the back of their mind, they will keep wondering what you’re going to say about them when their back is turned. Try to stay positive and give people the benefit of the doubt when you talk about them, or better, just talk about the two of you without dragging others, who aren’t even there, into the conversation.
7. Don’t self-deprecate.
It can make people feel awkward to be around individuals who talk badly about themselves, complaining about their various terrible qualities. They feel like they have to reassure you, and nobody wants to be someone’s therapist (unless they, like me, are a therapist).
8. Praise mutual friends.
If you know someone in common, talk nicely about them. This will increase the chances that this new acquaintance thinks well of you, and it also makes it likely that the three of you can hang out sometime.
9. Discuss potential future activities.
If your new acquaintance mentions an activity that you also enjoy, invite them to join you in the future. Not in a creepy way where you bring out your phone and start looking at the calendar, but just say that you’d love to have them come along surfing the next time you go to the beach, or whatever the case may be.
10. Don’t be shy about asking to connect.
Plant the seed that you want to be closer friends by saying something like, “I’ll definitely have to friend you on Facebook.” This is also a good way to assess whether this person is also interested in being friends. If they seem excited and later immediately accept your friend request, it’s likely that a friendship may be developing.
If you follow these 10 tips, it is likely you’ll be able to connect much more readily with people who interest you. Now try some of these out, and don’t blame us if you end up with too many plans for the weekend.

Those Physical Features Guys Can't Resist
So, according to this research, men are attracted to women with these 6 interesting features below:
1.) Less Makeup
You may think that contouring, layers of eye shadow, and bold lips are making you more beautiful, but as it turns out, the natural look is more appealing to men. The study says that men prefer women who use up to 40% fewer cosmetics. But it shouldn't take science to tell you that the natural you, is the best you.
2.) A High Voice:
According to the study, a high-pitched voice evokes youthfulness and signifies a small, feminine body, both of which are attractive to men.
3.) Healthy Hair:
Shiny, full, and long hair is very attractive to men. Again, it's a sign of health and fertility. Maybe women should also thank their stars for the existence of very sleek wigs. I mean, with regular salon visits and blowouts, you're good to go!
4.) A Wider Waist to Hips Ratio:
Apparently, a ratio of 7:10 is particularly pleasing. The waist and hips are related to childbirth, making men think, those big hips would be great for delivering my baby! This one is pretty obvious– men like small waists and big butts. I guess that would explain why waist-trainers and the Kardashians are trending.
5.) Wearing Red:
In Stevie Wonder's voice "the woman in red…" There's a reason red is associated with lust. Scientists have proven that wearing red enhances attraction. In fact, they've found this phenomenon to hold true in other animals as well.
Note to self: dry clean red dress for Saturday date night. It works magic!
6.) Smiles:
Well obviously, happy people are attractive people and attract other happy people. Plus, science has also proven the whiter the teeth, the better.
This all said, there's plenty of counter research that men are just happy to be getting laid at all. One thing's for sure– they're lucky to have us, just the way we are.

Did You Know That Too Much TV May Take Years Off Your Life
Spending your days in front of the television may contribute to a shortened lifespan, a new study suggests. Researchers in Australia found that people who averaged six hours a day of TV lived, on average, nearly five years less than people who watched no TV.
For every hour of television watched after age 25, lifespan fell by 22 minutes, according to the research led by Dr. J. Lennert Veerman of the University of Queensland. But other experts cautioned that the study did not show that TV watching caused people to die sooner, only that there was an association between watching lots of TV and a shorter lifespan. Though a direct link between watching TV and a shortened lifespan is highly provocative, the harms of TV are almost certainly indirect, said Dr. David L. Katz, director of the Prevention Research Center at Yale University School of Medicine.
"As a rule, the more time we spend watching TV, the more time we spend eating mindlessly in front of the TV, and the less time we spend being physically active," Katz said. "More eating and less physical activity, in turn, mean greater risk for obesity, and the chronic diseases it tends to anticipate, notably diabetes, heart disease and cancer."
Another explanation for the possible link may be that people who watch excessive amounts of TV "are lonely, or isolated, or depressed, and these conditions, in turn, may be the real causes of premature mortality," he added. The report was published in the Aug 15 online edition of the British Journal of Sports Medicine.
In the study, researchers used data on 11,000 people aged 25 and older from the Australian Diabetes, Obesity and Lifestyle Study, which included survey information about how much TV people watched in a week. Researchers also used national population and mortality figures.
In 2008, Australian adults watched a total of 9.8 billion hours of TV. People who watched more than six hours of TV were in the top 1 percent for TV viewing.
The statistics suggest that too much TV may be as dangerous as smoking and lack of exercise in reducing life expectancy, the researchers said. For example, smoking can shorten of life expectancy by more than four years after the age of 50. That represents 11 minutes of life lost for every cigarette and that's the same as half an hour of TV watching, the researchers said. Without TV, researchers estimated life expectancy for men would be 1.8 years longer and for women, 1.5 years longer.
"While we used Australian data, the effects in other industrialized and developing countries are likely to be comparable, given the typically large amounts of time spent watching TV and similarities in disease patterns," the researchers noted. Dr. Gregg Fonarow, associate chief of cardiology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at University of California, Los Angeles, said that "there is increasing evidence that the amount of time spent in sedentary activity such at TV watching, distinct from the amount of time spent in purposeful exercise, may adversely impact health." And although participating in a regular exercise program can help, it may not be enough to offset the risks of spending too much of the rest of the day — while at work or at home — getting no exercise whatsoever.
"Staying active and reducing time spent sedentary may be of benefit in reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease and may be considered as part of a comprehensive approach to improve cardiovascular health," Fonarow added.
Dr. Robert J. Myerburg, a professor of medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, added that "a sedentary lifestyle can reduce life expectancy." Myerburg isn't sure why sitting around is not good for your health. "It's better to look at it from a positive prospective," he said. "That is: a physically active lifestyle is protective."

KIDNEY STONES :PREVENTION FAR BETTER THAN CURE
I recently stumbled upon an article of how a 25 year lady suffered from kidney stone for a long time without knowing she had kidney stone until it got really critical.
Only if she had information on the symptoms of this disease. So I went straight to my best friend which is the internet to check up for an article that will best explain this deadly disease.

What Are Kidney Stones?
There are several different types of kidney stones, but each of them can cause a lot of pain. Kidney stones are small chunks of solid material that can form in your kidneys, a pair of organs that filter your blood.
The "stones," which are usually yellow and brown, vary in size and shape.
For instance, some may be jagged and as small as a grain of sand, while others may be lumpy and the size of golf balls. A stone may stay in the kidney or travel down the urinary tract — the body's waste and excess-water drainage system — and get stuck, causing severe pain in the belly or side of the back. Other symptoms may include nausea, chills, and blood in the urine.
Prevalence and Demographics of Kidney Stones
Kidney stones are one of the most common disorders of the urinary tract, resulting in more than a million visits to health care providers and 300,000 emergency room visits each year in the United States, according to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK).
About one in 11 people in the United States, or 8.8 percent of the population, have had a kidney stone, according to a 2012 report in the journal European Urology.
Kidney stones affect both men and women, though struvite stones are more common in women and uric acid stones are more common in men. Overall, however, the prevalence of kidney stones is higher in men than women. Kidney stones are also more common in obese people than non-obese people, and less common in non- Hispanic African and Mexican-Americans than in non- Hispanic Caucasians, according to the European Urology study.
What Are the Kidneys?
Part of the urinary system, your two kidneys are fist- sized, bean-shaped organs, located just below the rib cage, one on each side of the spine.
They have a number of important functions, mainly filtering the blood to remove waste and excess water, resulting in the formation of urine, which is stored in the bladder and emptied from the body through the urethra.
The kidneys also:
-Balance the body's levels of electrolytes,
including sodium, potassium, and phosphate,
to maintain the body's balance of acids and
bases
-Produce hormones involved in regulating
blood pressure, producing red blood cells,
and maintaining bone strength
-Prevent the buildup of waste and fluid in the body
Development of Kidney Stones
Kidney stones develop when the concentration of normal kidney substances (especially calcium, oxalate, and phosphorus) increases substantially. This process — sometimes known as nephrolithiasis — can be due to various factors, including low fluid intake, diet, or medications such as diuretics and calcium-based antacids.
A number of issues can increase a person's risk of developing kidney stones, including:
-A family history of kidney stones
-Medical conditions that affect the levels of urinary substances
-Urinary tract blockage
-Digestive problems Recurrent urinary tract. infections
Types of Kidney Stones
There are four main types of kidney stones: calcium, uric acid, struvite, and cystine stones. Calcium stones, of which there are two forms — calcium oxalate and calcium phosphate — are the most common type of kidney stone.
In most cases, calcium oxalate stones form from high levels of calcium and oxalate in urine. But if there are high levels of urine calcium and the urine is alkaline (has a high pH), calcium phosphate stones may form instead. Uric acid stones develop from overly acidic (low pH) urine.
This can result from a diet high in purines, substances that are broken down to form uric acid and are found in high concentrations in animal protein. Struvite stones, sometimes called infection stones, are made of magnesium, ammonium, and phosphate, and typically form in alkaline urine.
They develop from upper urinary tract infections, including kidney infections, when bacteria produce urease, an enzyme that helps convert urea (a compound in urine) into ammonia and other products. Cystine stones result from a genetic disorder that causes cystine, an amino acid, to leak into the urine from the kidneys.

BEYOND KSU : How I Escaped From Being Kidnapped – UNILAG Student
A 100-Level female student of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) has narrated how she escaped from being kidnapped by two men.
The student said it all happened on her way home from the Yaba market in Lagos when the unknown men ordered her to get into their Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV).
She narrated her story to a popular daily:
“I was about to cross at the Yaba Roundabout, beside the Cathedral Church, to board a bus to Ikeja when a silver colour SUV parked beside me. There were two guys in the car and one of them said, ‘how are you? Enter the car.’ I was shocked at the statement because I had never met them before.
”I continued walking and tried to cross the road but they blocked me with the car; then I became scared. I was finally able to cross and I boarded an Ikeja-bound bus and took a seat. Before I knew it, both men got out of their SUV and walked to the bus I was in. They were both putting on Army caps. They told the bus driver that the bus would not move until I came down and talked to them.
”They claimed that they knew me, which was untrue. I told them I would not get off the bus and talk to them because I didn’t know who they were but they insisted and it resulted in an argument involving me, the soldiers, passengers and other bus drivers.
“The bus drivers later said I should get off the bus, saying they didn’t want any trouble, that I had probably dated one of the guys. This went on for a while until the soldiers and drivers went to the back of their SUV and continued the argument.
“When I noticed the soldiers’ attention was not on me anymore, I came down from the bus and ran to board a UNILAG campus shuttle bus, hoping that would save me from them, but when I looked back while in the shuttle, I saw their car following the bus.
“They followed the bus down to the UNILAG gate in Akoka. I alighted at the school gate and ran to the security gate. Their SUV followed me and parked close to the school gate, so I started shouting and crying, ‘They want to kidnap me.’ After a few minutes, they drove off. I had to call some of my male friends who followed me home.
“I was so scared because I don’t know what those guys would have done to me, if I had not run to the campus shuttle that took me to school,” she added.

BEYOND KSU : THUGS DUSRUPT PROTEST BY N.U.T(LOKOJA BRANCH)
Reports:
"Gangs of thugs, believed to be All Progressives Congress, APC members, loyal to the governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello today, violently disrupted protests by Lokoja branch of the Nigerian Union of Teachers, NUT, who poured into streets to register their anger against the state government’s failure to pay their five months salaries.
The thugs armed with dangerous weapons including machete and horsewhips swooped on the protesting teachers at the front of Lokoja LG secretariat, within the vicinity of the State APC secretariat, and inflicted serious injuries on some of them.
The hoodlums, according to their leaders, had described the action of the teachers as rebellion against Bello’s government.
The teachers, who were led by officials of Lokoja local government branch of the NUT had earlier in the morning gathered at the Lokoja LGA secretariat, where they commenced the protest that was designed to take them through major roads including Maigari palace, Kabawa Road and Township Stadium Road, to terminate at the gates of Government House."

READ - AN OPEN LETTER TO ASUU KSU CHAPTER AND HIS EXCELLENCY GOV YAHAYA BELLO
I got this from Idah Abubakar Rex on the KSU facebook forum, read below :
"I am a student of Kogi state university ( KSU) addressing this
letter to all concerned ASUU(KSU CHAPTER) members and
to his Excellency Gov. Yahaya Bello
Greetings to all ASUU members who are jointly fighting a
fight for a positive outcome which in turn is indeed causing
a lot of mental, academic and moral set back in the lives of
every students of this prestigious citadel of learning (KSU)
It is not out of point that you (ASUU) are fighting for your
entitlements of five months salaries the Kogi State
Government is owing you.
However, if what we the students are hearing that His
Excellency, Gov Yahaya Bello offered to pay you a four
months salary at a stretch and you still refused putting
things into considerations is true, Then you(ASUU) are
leaving us with no other conclusion but to say that ASUU is
no longer a neutral body but a pure political machinery set
out to destroy the reign of this present state government
administration.
The questions I want to ask are these..
1.Is it because His Excellency is not an igala man by tribe?
Since majority of the governing bodies of ASUU are Igalas?
2.Has his Excellency Yahaya Bello been the one owing you
for these months of unpaid salaries?
3 .Why didn't you (ASUU) fight former Gov WADA down to
the finish?
4. Is ASUU being fair enough?
If only ASUU can be more sincere to itself, then I see no
reason why this strike should last longer than it is now..
To Mr Governor on the other hand, if you truly value the
educational welfare of Kogi state youths, then I expect you
to use your position well and wisely.
I know this letter will go viral. And I hope it reaches the
appropriate quarters. God bless you all..
Signed Comr James Adamu"
Does he have a point ?? Congress tomorrow people !!!

Sex and Relationship : 10 Signs You Are Dating A Great Guy Who You Should Never Let Go
Women all around the world agree that being in a relationship can bring a lot of delight and excitement into your life. There are many fish in the sea and the options are endless. For those ladies already in a relationship, you may wonder every once in a while whether you made the right choice by being with your significant other. What if there were some things you’ve neglected to consider? Is it time to rethink your options? To put your mind at ease, here are a few signs that you are in fact dating a great guy who you should never let go.
1. He loves you for your dorky, awkward self
Not all girls can have as much confidence and grace as Marilyn Monroe. You may have an awkward laugh, or a weird way of walking. Maybe you stutter, tell bad jokes and drool in your sleep. Maybe you aren’t very comfortable around his friends and family, but at the end of every day he still finds you adorable. It’s the best feeling knowing that you don’t have to pretend you’re someone you’re not.
2. He doesn’t run for the hills during your period
Some situations can’t be fixed by anyone, not even by your number one man. Let’s use your time of the month as an example. He doesn’t know what it’s like, and a large percentage of women suffer mood swings and hormonal fluctuations that can be terrifying and confusing. He can’t be expected to know exactly what to say, however he will sit you down, wrap a blanket around you and give you a massage. What more could you ask for?
3. He’s more real than men from the movies
If he has ever tried surprising you with a song or other romantic gesture, more often than not it has ended up more embarrassing than romantic. However the gestures are flattering and prove to be topics of conversation for the rest of your relationship. Let’s face it, perfect guys don’t exist, so the fact that this imperfect guy can make you happy is an indicator that you’re probably with the right guy.
4. He never lets you go to bed angry or upset
All couples fight – it’s a given. Every relationship has its low points and its high points. In whatever case, it is great to have a man who makes sure you two don’t dwell on unnecessary arguments. There is nothing worse than waking up in the morning knowing that you had that fight last night and are supposed to be avoiding each other and exchanging glares the next morning. If he takes the extra effort to make sure you don’t fall asleep without making up, then you know he’s a keeper.
5. He isn’t too scared of your dad’s shotgun
Many men cringe at the thought of meeting your parents, especially if they’re the scary type. When your significant other is actually enthusiastic about meeting your folks and incorporating himself into your family, then this is a sign that you’ve picked a good one. A good boyfriend will never try to isolate you from your family, so be sure you look out for this.
6. He is the only person you need to have a good
time
Whether you’re watching a movie, eating dinner, playing video games or just spending the whole day in bed talking about everything, he is the only person you need to have a memorable moment. Spending time with other people is great, but sometimes there’s nothing you love more than being able to spend some quality time alone with him. Your lives together will never be dull.
7. He doesn’t burn toast
Enough said. Maybe all he knows how to do is flip a pancake or not burn an omelet – on the other hand he might be a better cook than you. Either way, there is nothing more attractive than a guy who knows his way around the kitchen. While you still need to spend a few hours laboring in the kitchen, it’s good to know that he’s willing to put in as much effort as you.
8. He doesn’t doubt you, and doesn’t give you
any reason to doubt him
Trust is the most important part of a functional relationship, and it is vital that both of you are putting in an equal amount of effort. If you can go out late on a Friday night without him hounding you with questions the morning after about where you were, what you did and who you were with, then you know you’ve established a good trust relationship. At the same time, he doesn’t give you any reason to question who he texts and why he hasn’t called when he said he would. Whatever excuse or apology he gives you is legitimate. This is a man you should keep around for as long as possible.
9. He has creative ways to let you know he loves
you
It’s extremely easy to say those three little words – and after a long relationship it becomes something you say almost automatically, even if you don’t mean it. At this stage, if your boyfriend is finding more creative ways to let you know he cares, then this is the sign of a keeper. Maybe he’s started leaving cute notes for you to find when you wake up in the morning. Maybe he’s started singing to you. Maybe he’s taking you on picnics. Whatever he does, it should mean the world to you.
10. He doesn’t have multiple personalities
He doesn’t have to act ‘cool’ in front of his friends or your friends. He doesn’t pretend to be anything to impress your parents. He doesn’t have to act any differently around you to make you like him better. He’s the same person all the time— honest and consistent. You never have to worry whether he’ll act weird around particular people, and you know that the man your fell in love with such a long time ago will still be the same man in fifty years. This is a sign that you should never ever let him go.

Sex and Relationships : 8 Signs That Your Current Relationship Has No Future
Are you confused about the direction of your relationship?
Relationships are often happy at the beginning, but over time
they can become negative without you realizing. All
relationships require effort and hard work, and without these
things you may notice that you feel unhappy and under-
appreciated.
Check out 8 telltale signs that your relationship may not last.
1. Your partner can’t accept you for who you are
Everyone has positive and negative traits, and a good partner
will accept all of your flaws. Your partner doesn’t have to
enjoy watching The Real Housewives with you, but they
should accept that you enjoy it and leave you to it without
judgment. If your partner doesn’t like more important things
like the way you dress or your career, it is time for you to
leave. Being unable to accept one another for who you are is
one of the biggest indicators that the relationship won’t work
out.
2. You can’t accept your partner for who they are
Accepting each other works both ways. If your partner loves you for who you are then you should be able to offer the same to your partner. Ask yourself this; if there are things your partner does that you hate or cannot come to terms with, why are you with them?
3. You struggle to handle each other during the
hard times
Relationships come with intimacy, happiness and laughter, but they also come with stress, bad moods and hardship. Of course you will love your partner when they are happy and relaxed, but do you feel the same way about them when they are irritated? In a relationship you should support each other during hard times, not push each other away.
4. Your needs are not being met by your partner
Your partner cannot do everything for you; for instance, it is demanding and clingy to insist they talk to you every hour of the day. However it is important that they can meet your needs in the relationship department. They should be able to cheer you up after a tough day, and they should be able to provide you with love and support. If they can’t give you these things the relationship will deteriorate.
5. You are not at the same place mentally
If you are ready to get married and settle down and your partner wants to travel alone for a few years, you may start to encounter problems. If you realize your relationship is becoming serious, it is useful to sit down and talk about both of your plans for the future. It isn’t anyone’s fault if you have different interests, but you both deserve to know if you’re not in the same boat.
6. You put work into the relationship but your
partner does not
Relationships are what you put into them. Both partners need to give and take, and sometimes one partner may give more or take more. This can cause a problem as you should both be putting an equal amount of effort into the relationship. If one of you doesn’t care enough to meet the other halfway, it could be a sign that the relationship has become unhealthy and negative.
7. You struggle to trust each other
Both you and your partner should trust each other implicitly. If your partner has given you a reason to distrust them, you can either forgive them and try toe and Facebook Messages forge a future or move on. The worst decision you can make is choosing to stay when you don’t trust them. If you find yourself checking your partner’s phone when they leave the room, breaking up and moving on may be the best option for both of you.
8. You don’t see long-term potential
A relationship requires a lot of time and effort, so it is important to make sure you are putting in work for something that could actually last. You don’t have to want to marry your partner, but you should be able to envision a happy future together. If you don’t see a future together at all it may be time for you to move on.

8 Things Happy And Successful People Ignore
Everyone wants to be successful and happy these
days, but there are so many things that prevent us
from being happy. The truth is, we are the only ones
that can decide whether to live a happy life or spend
the life doing things that make us unhappy. You will
never become successful if you don’t learn how to be
happy. It’s hard to learn to ignore negativity,
stereotypes, and naysayers, but it’s extremely
important. Don’t be afraid to go against the grain to
make a difference by doing things your own way. Here
are a few things you should ignore if you want to be a
happy and successful person.
1. The past
You can’t change your past, so there’s no sense in
dwelling on it. Forget all your old troubles and
mistakes. What’s done is done and you can’t change it,
no matter how hard you try. In fact, our mistakes help
us become stronger and wiser. We learn from them
and we learn our weaknesses. Even the most stressful
and tragic situations eventually teach you vital lessons
that you never thought you’re going to learn. Just
because you are not a successful person today doesn’t
mean you will not be the one someday. You will be
happy and successful – maybe not right now, but
eventually. Just don’t give up and don’t let your past
ruin your present.
2. The things they can’t control
Happy and successful people never force anything.
They don’t hold themselves down with things they
can’t control. Successful people never talk about the
problem, they think about the solution. So if you have
some problems, start thinking about the solutions. If
you can’t change your current situation, let it be.
Remember, changes happen for a reason. If it’s meant
to be, it will be.
3. Other people’s opinions
It’s great to listen to people around you, but it doesn’t
mean you should act up to their opinions. If you spend
too much time thinking of everyone else’s perception
of you and if you pay attention to everyone else’s
judgment, you will eventually forget who you truly are.
You know who you are, so don’t let the judgments of
other people affect your life. Impress and inspire
people around you and show them how happy and
successful you are.
4. Impatient thoughts
Joyce Meyer once said, “Patience is not the ability to
wait but the ability to keep a good attitude while
waiting.” Patience allows you to stay focused,
confidently taking one small step at a time. Every step
you take, no matter how small, is a huge progress.
Whether you’re working on getting a promotion,
improving your health, or learning a new language,
don’t expect instant results. Every change, big and
small, takes patience and time. Ignore those impatient
thoughts, focus on your goals, stay positive and you
will definitely see your progress. Trust me, I know how
it’s frustrating when the results don’t appear as fast as
you’d hoped. But if you put in the work and have a
little patience, you will achieve any goal, I promise!
5. Doubts
Successful people always believe in their capacity to
succeed. They ignore all nagging doubts and keep a
positive attitude no matter how bad things get. Even if
you made many mistakes, you should still believe in
yourself and your strength. Believe that your career is
worth the efforts. Believe that people can be
intelligent and foolish, generous and selfish, happy
and stressed all at once. Believe that you are
successful even if you don’t earn millions. Believe in
your intuition when you should choose between
something. Believe that your life is happy and it will
bring you joy again and again. Believe in magic when it
seems like there’s no way out of the situation you are
in. Remember, belief is always better than doubt.
6. Inessential tasks
Successful people know when and how to say no. You
are not superhuman – you can’t do everything and you
can’t help everyone. You need to focus on your goals.
Stop trying to do too much things at once. If you never
say no, you will stress yourself out since you might fail
to do everything at once. Don’t be afraid to say no
more often. Sometimes we spend a lot of time on
what is urgent and less time on what is important. Try
to focus on more important things and it will certainly
help you achieve success.
7. Everyday frustrations
Bad days are just bad days. They come and they go.
Although you might feel overly stressed, try to ignore
them. It’s much easier to enjoy your life when you stay
positive even if you have a bad day. Unfortunately, we
can’t avoid everyday frustrations. We fall, we rise, we
make mistakes, we learn, and we live. We are all
humans, we can’t be perfect. Practice gratitude daily
and it will help you cope with the hard times. Realize
that life is beautiful. Sometimes there’s sadness, but
there are also plenty of beautiful things. Learn to
ignore everyday frustrations even when it hurts, and
you will see how happy and successful you are.
8. Fears
Often we don’t take risks because of fear of failing,
judgment, or rejection. This is one of the main reasons
why so many people are not successful these days.
Successful people overcome their fears and they often
take risks. In fact, almost everything in life is a risk,
including just being alive. If you don’t take risks, you
won’t grow and thrive and you won’t know what you
are capable of. When you feel fear, doubt, frustration,
or anxiety, know that you can fight it. Just focus on the
possibilities, on the goodness and on your goals and
you will feel much better in no time.

BEYOND KSU : UNILAG Begins Victimization Of Students Over Protest Against Poor Welfare On Campus- SAHARA REPORTERS
The authorities of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) have see
up a Senate Disciplinary Panel to punish students believed
to have participated in the recent protest on campus.
Already, the panel has started inviting the students for
interrogation in a bid to punish them for lawfully expressin
their dissatisfaction with the deplorable welfare conditions
in the university.

believed to have participated in the recent protest on

The move is an extension of the punitive action against the
University of Lagos Students' Union, which resulted in the
suspension of its constitution as well as the executive and
legislative organs of the union just one year after these
were restored by the authorities. On 8 April, the university
authorities issued a school closure and vacation order to all
the students in response to their protest through which
they demanded solutions to poor water and electricity
supply on the campus.
But on reopening the university, the authorities ejected all
members of the Students' Union from their campus
accommodation, citing their protest against poor welfare in
April. In newspaper publications, the university authorities
attributed the students' demonstration to exuberance and
accused the Students' Union leadership of lacking integrity.
So far, the disciplinary panel has invited nearly every
member of the suspended Students' Union.
A source familiar with workings of the university authorities
told SaharaReporters that the move is part of a plot to
distract the students from launching a fresh protest for the
restoration of the suspended union.
The source added that the students have launched a social
media campaign for the restoration of the University of
Lagos Students Union (ULSU) under a hashtag
#RestoreULSU. This, he added, has caused the authorities
huge embarrassment, forcing them into a crackdown on
students leading the agitation.

Strategies To Make A First Class In PAAU
Every serious student that gains admission into
tertiary institutions has the aim of graduating with a
first class/distinction degree but the reality shows that
the number of first class students in Nigeria’s tertiary
institutions is on the decline. This post gives steps
which if diligently followed will enable every student
who aspires to make a first class in school to do so
with ease.
1) Get serious from the first day
It is common for students to get carried away with the
euphoria of gaining admission into higher institution
that they forget the major reason why they are in
school. It is essential to start building your grade point
from the first day so as to avoid playing catch up
afterwards.
2) Attend Lectures
While attending lectures may not be so important in
your first year in school as most courses are what you
must have already learnt previously in your secondary
school and the large number of students in lecture
rooms in your first year may not make attending
lectures enticing however after your first year,
attending lectures must be a priority, this is enable you
mark attendance in class which may be the difference
between an A or a B, pick salient points which the
lecturer may mention in class and to pick instructions
and tips which lecturers usually give in class.
3) Understand your Lecturer(s)
As all human beings differ in various characteristics so
do your lecturers differ in the way they want things to
be done. While some may prefer you to understand
their notes only, others may prefer you to research
more on your own after giving you notes, others may
depend solely on past questions and so on. It is very
essential to understand each lecturer who comes to
lecture you. This might be done by seeking advice from
students who have taken courses taught by the
lecturer.
4) Don’t build serious relationships with the
opposite sex
It is very essential to keep only platonic relationships
with the opposite sex while in school. This might be
very difficult especially if you are a pretty lady or a
handsome guy but the truth is if you keep any serious
relationships, it will eat out of your valuable time you
would have spent studying.
5) Learn to study
This usually is the most difficult part of a student’s life
as different distractions exist in the higher institution
but unfortunately this is the most important step on
your way to making a first class in school. While most
students are fond of deceiving themselves by either
sleeping and waking in the library without actually
studying, it is very essential to give at least 2 quality
hours studying every day.
6) Rub mind with others
No man is an island, no matter how hard you study
you can never know it all, there will still be some few
things which you still would not know but someone
else’s could help you with and save you a lot of time
trying to decipher how to go about the problem.
7) Put God first
Always remember that God is the owner of all
knowledge and gives only to those who he wishes to.
Learn to always put God first before every lecture, test
or exam. He is the only one who can see you through.
