As a result of some rumblings of a protest by some KSU students living around Lokoja, the S.U.G President took to his Facebook wall around 6:00 PM today to post this :
"Pls all students should debunk any information stating that there would be protest in lokoja on Thursday 2nd 2016. We should nt use our hands to jeopardise efforts made so far as the government has promised to pay 5month salary this week. The SUG is in the position to call for protest when time is due and any one who takes part in any protest not organized by SUG is on his own as SUG would not stand liable or for any students who make such mistakes. I believe we re all literate as students and should know the procedures involved before embarking on a civil disobedience. SUG is nt sleeping as various steps has been taken and its almost yielding results. Pls we shouldn't use our hands to spoil the efforts made so far. And since we ve all entrusted the power of our representative on the excos of SUG then we have to trust them to take decisions for us. Always call the President on 08050476454 for information 24hrs his phone line is on. Thanks. Aluta continua, Victoria asserta . from comrd . P.S OMEPA (SUG president ksu)"
Well, this is coming as a surprise,we didn't see that coming did we ??
Nah,just kidding,we saw it coming. As a matter of fact it was part of the write up we published yesterday in the part where we said :
"You have a student union government, they look like they mean well, with all the keke napeps and stuffs, and they are trying to make sure that the government understand your plight without moving at a speed capable of killing a spleen, you can't blame them, they have their reasons, right ??
Can you act ?? Off course you can act,but as a student if you act without been told to by the SUG,then you're on your own."
So we expected something like this, even more assertion from your part,MR President :
" We should nt use our hands to jeopardise efforts made so far as the government has promised to pay 5month salary this week. The SUG is in the position to call for protest when time is due and any one who takes part in any protest not organized by SUG is on his own as SUG would not stand liable or for any students who make such mistakes."
So thanks MR President for again saying something we were expecting you to say,but not what many (KSUstudents) want you to say. Thanks for not varying from the script. By the way,as at yesterday, this is what we said just yesterday:
"But,isn't the SUG the body that connects you as student to them(the upper guys), they are your voice, but they clearly don't know what exactly you want them to voice out. So what you have to do is make them know exactly what you want, how you feel, what you want them to say. You have to start taking steps. Like I said, action speaks louder and clearer than words.
Its strike day 46,your patience has ran thin, you should start taking steps, you will start taking steps, you MUST start taking steps."
So you should understand where and why this protest talks is coming up,mr President. Its totally understandable why this is coming, the students are tired of just sitting at home and watching ASUU and the state government play chess with their future. You are the president of S.U.G, we are mere students who wants to earn a certificate,so at some point this protest talks was bound to come up,and at some point if something is not done,is bound to escalate.
Meanwhile,enjoy this report :
"Niger Delta University (NDU) on Saturday protested the indefinite closure of the university following the non-payment of workers by the state Government.
The students under the aegis of the Niger Delta Visionary Movement (NDVM) threatened to march naked with their books and block the entrance to Government House if after a week the stakeholders failed to settle their rift and open the university.
It would be recalled that the ASUU chapter of Niger Delta University on April 26th, embarked on indefinite strike over non payment of salaries."
To the Student Union Government of Kogi state university, brace up your "keke napep",its going to be a bumpy ride in the coming days if something isn't done. As of now,we are still watching !!
