TO THE STUDENTS WHO STUDY IN THE ROOM/HOSTEL…
For some, the room is a chilling space and it’s meant for enjoyment of all sorts while to others it’s a library which is mostly common when all seats are filled and some decided to turn the school library to their bedrooms, then you know exam is stepping into the room. Some also prefer staying glued to their rooms in order to avoid being stalked up by mates who only stroll about the reading rooms aimlessly looking for who to call “ iwe!“, “First classer!“, “efiko!“.
This idea to some people is like barking up the wrong tree as they can hardly cope reading in the room without distractions while some are comfortable with it, it varies.
Here are some of the things to ensure if you are one of the Students Who Study In The Room/ Hostel.
KEEP YOUR PHONE FAR FROM YOU:
The truest greatness lie you will tell yourself is to keep your phone at a distance less than 20metres and claim you are reading. It works if you are using itel N205 on which the only meaningful thing you can do is text your dad, even calling a friend on such phone won’t be clear, something like future’s voice. But a blackberry user, who has pings screaming up every minute will find it difficult to ignore the messages and concentrate. You might also decide to check a friend’s updated status after being notified by Facebook, or probably check Linda Ikeji for some smart rumours. If
possible, do away with your phone while reading in your room.
DON’T ANNOUNCE YOUR AVAILABILITY:
If you are to study successfully in your room,
endeavor to make yourself seem unavailable to neighbours. This is like the best thing since sliced bread for ladies pretty ladies. It’s obviously inevitable for you to stop that guy from coming around your room even though you shunned him the previous day. Therefore, the best you could do is to pretend like you are
away for that moment in order not to be caught between two stools.
AVOID USING THE BED:
Reading in your room and you are comfortably lying on the bed with your legs
crossed? I doubt if education was that comfortable. In such condition, you are bound
to sleep off at any moment and you will discover you have actually gained nothing. That is a far cry from what is referred to as serious reading. I’d rather you got a study desk with a chair of corresponding height and make use of it.
KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT:
“Messi better pass Ronaldo na!”, “Nicki Minaj’s assets are artificial!”, “Mr Ibu has a pumped stomach!“…These are useless arguments that you can’t help but listen to in students’ hostels. You must learn to keep your mouth and ears
shut when issues like this ensue. If you are the type that can’t do but jump up and take the matter to the head as if Nicki Minaj was your
cousin then kindly pack up your books and head to the library, because you will definitely get distracted.
The wise man bridges the gap to success by laying out the path by means of which he can get from where he is to where he wants to go. If you know you are not the type that can read in the hostel, don’t deceive yourself. Head to the library to read what you have to read and leave the rest to God.

HOW TO EARN EXTRA INCOME AS A STUDENT
The best thing after fried egg is making extra
income as an undergraduate, it makes you partially or totally independent on your parents and most importantly, financially buoyant. I guess what’s riding through your mind now is “ yahoo!!! runs babe!!!” Cut those crap. There are so many legit means of making money as a student, it’s all about being smart. There are countless numbers of people who make huge amount of money with their common sense by just doing sideline activities within the campus.
The following are some practicable means to raise some liquid cash for yourself as an undergraduate. So, read along, How To Earn Extra Income As A Student:
Buying and Reselling of Laptops and
Mobile gadgets : Nigerians, especially students love splashy trends, minding not the exorbitant prices. In fact, exorbitant gadgets are considered a do or die affair by some extravagant children of pot-bellied politicians. It’s somewhat easy, you can easily get these gadgets at give away prices from online shops like Alibaba and Aliexpress and resell at the rate of up to 40% gain.
Applying For Scholarship/Bursary
Awards : It’s always wise to draw up a list of
scholarship awards available to Nigerian
Students, especially the ones you are eligible
for. The amount awarded as bursary or
scholarships could range from N50,000 to
N250,000 per annum depending on who and on what basis the award is being given.
Teaching/Tutorials : Package yourself and arrange some interested students as you organize tutorial classes and charge them peanuts. You’ll get a mad rush if they know you teach well but charge little. You can even
organize tutorial classes for University students for courses where there’s mass failure or students have difficulty passing. Mind you, if you know nothing about something you claim to teach, students might fall your hand though.
Selling of Recharge Cards : Sounds ridiculous? Just go and ask those who do so in
student hostels. By the time you rake in a gain of #300 per day, making roughly #9,000 per month, you are a step ahead of being broke.
Own A Website : This is a no-brainer as the details behind it is not far-fetched. Though it sounds somehow technical, which is really not. It’s interestingly profitable for a student
considering the circumstances around the world we are in.
Freelancing : Do you have any special skill probably needed by some people out there, then serch online for freelancing websites. Fiverr, for instance.
Participating In Talent Hunts : Manifest your talent in school and earn real cash and
pretty healthy fame. If you can rap, dance, sing, design, decorate, act, even somersault, what are you waiting for?
Grab your passion and take it to where the cash is.
Cracking Network Provider Cheats And Selling Data Bundle : This is also somehow technical but a very huge way of making money as a student on campus. Students can’t do without surfing the net, which can’t be done without their phones getting equipped with the required browsing data. They will flood your door if you have the know-how of such and you are ready to offer the service.
Bead Making : This is a very lucrative business, that also requires a very low start up
capital. All you have to do is acquire the required skills.
Movie Rental/Supply Services : Students do claim school is hard but still factorise out that time to watch movies. You can also factorise out a living out of that, supply them with as much movies as they might want to
watch, charging proportionately. Equip yourself with latest movies and post notices around the hood about your service, they will
come. Just sit back and watch them in 3D.
Organizing Events : After carrying out feasibility studies on what kind of event might pull traffic. Venture into it. e.g Organise an
event where you call the local rap champions to perform. You pay them penny while those who also come to watch pay penny, you will probably get a profit at the end of the day.
“Probably”, because if people end up not turning up, you are on your own o.

LECTURERS’ BEHAVIOURS THAT AFFECTS STUDENTS’ PERFORMANCES
Lecturers in KSU/PAAU exhibit some characters that do affect the outcome of students, here is a bit of them :
Skipping Classes : Some lecturers in our tertiary institutions fathom joy from this. Should we call it laziness? Or nonchalant attitude? They are probably into other private businesses to better their own lives, thereby hardly getting the chance to come and take classes. Then when the exam is around corner, they show up out of the middle of nowhere in
particular and bombard students with notes and materials to read on their own.
Lecturing Instead Of Teaching : Breaking
it down, if he faces the board as he murmurs to himself or dictates notes non-stop without
no explanation whatsoever, caring not about the students, he lectures. If he’s always explaining and engaging with the students, asking them if they understand and speaking loud enough for them to hear him, he teaches. The difference is understandable, if a lecturer
adopts the lecturing habit, students tend to perform not so good.
Setting Exam Based On What They Never Taught In Class (common in NAT.SC) : They probably believe that students will read above the syllabus and go off what has been taught in class, the guess is not always right though.
Students will just keep staring at the exam paper on the exam day. Not that they did not
read, but the lecturer did not set what he taught them.
Having Evil Mind sets Towards Students : Just because a lecturer did not have A in a course during his undergraduate days, he will mark students down so none of them will have an A. Bad!
Being Careless With Test And Exam
Scripts : Some of our lecturers do not have good record keeping habit not to talk of arranging documents in an orderly manner. In the process of handling test or exam scripts, they misplace some and the student get no result when the result is released.
Failing Endowed Female Students Who Refuse To Satisfy Their Sexual Urge : Some female students are really endowed, not to lie. So once they apply and you turn down their application, you will fail their course till they retire.
Fixing Short Notcie For Exams Or Fixing
Impromptu Tests : Some deliberately do this to record mass failure and probably catch those who are not reading or getting along with the course. Wicked act.
Copying And Pasting Mumu Handouts
From The Internet : They just go on google and search for a key phrase concerning the subject matter, thumb through the results and fortunately find a matching page. Then they download the page word for word and print it
out for students. This habit makes no sense.
Not Accommodating Questions – Some lecturers will just shut you down or yab education out of you if you dare ask them question in class. They have probably forgotten
that customers are always right.
Not Wanting Students To Graduate With A First Class Degree : According to the common conspiracy theory in KSU/PAAU, lecturers deliberately don't want students to graduate with a first class degree irrespective of how good the students is. The moment you're climbing up, they try as much as possible to pull you down. This according to what they say, is because this lecturers are "afraid" of the fact that the university might retain such student, putting their own job at risk.
Bonus : They Fail Students Intentionally So They Pay "Tithe" To Them (SORTING)
The question however,is it possible (ever) for them to adjust ?

3 TYPES OF RELATIONSHIPS YOU SHOULD NEVER HAVE IN PAAU
There are some Types Of Relationships You Should Never Have In School, especially in the University. As universities are hotbeds for all kinds of relationships, good and bad, from everlasting true love to an awkward one-night stands originated from a dinner party. You might have made mistakes, you might not. Either ways, here are the list of things and people not to do in terms of relationships in the university.
1. Do Not Have A Relationship with your lecturer
It’s quite understandable that at times, you might be attracted to the person imparting wisdom and learning to you on a daily basis. There are all too many occasions for attraction to blossom; seminars where everyone else is too hungover to turn up, or the aptly named “personal” tutorials. Relationships between faculty members and students are pretty common, and rarely prohibited by universities. But most relationships you have at school aren’t going to end happily ever after. Most likely, if you get into a relationship with your tutor or lecturer, it will implode at some point, and you’ll have to endure the awkwardness and pain of forced
contact with an ex who still holds the position of power over you that was so attractive in the first
place. Or, worse, you’ll just hit on a lecturer when drunk on free departmental wine, be rejected, and have to spend the next three years studiously avoiding them, and never ever taking any of their courses
2.Do Not Have A Relationship with your lodge/flat mate
Having a relationship with someone you already live with escalates everything; you can get close really quickly, but that makes it harder if you then split up. “ Don’t do it“– else you want someone to be visiting you day in day out, all days, which will instigate some things to happen and definitely make you both get tired of each other really
quickly.
3. Do Not Have A Relationship with a sabbatical officer
Sabbatical officers are students who take a year off between or directly after their studies to take on key positions in the student union. Relationships between students and people like this might not immediately seem particularly ill-advised, and you do get a kind of second-hand power rush from dating someone vaguely important. But when it ends, and there’s a cardboard cut out of your ex that creepily guards the entrance to your uni, it becomes peculiarly painful. As are all the emails, the weird pictures of them dressed up in a novelty reindeer costume, and the realization that it’s very hard to get over someone when they’re around all the time.

5 CATEGORIES OF BIG BOYS IN PAAU……
BIG BOYS WITH THE “BIG BRAINS”
These are basically the type of guys that give all their attentions to their studies. Other students (both male and female) are always seen flocking
around them because they’re gurus and they
always have one or two things to tell you that you don’t even have an idea about. Things like emm… Well things you probably don’t know anyway. If you ask, you might as well find out right? Isn’t that why they are called “Genius”? I love to refer them as freaks though. No hard feelings. They make me freak out and feel intimidated. I just don’t give them the pleasure of seeing that expression on my face back to those nerds. Most of the time, they occupy positions such as presidents, class-reps or the head of whatever organization they are in. Don’t get it twisted, some are quite good looking. I’m not gay tho, just saying in respect to views of my female friends.
BIG BOYS WITH “NO CASH” IN POCKETS
These are the type of guys you see repping the hood on daily basis. Academics don’t have their full attention, having fun is just their thing. They are either in school to submit an assignment, meet up with that lecturer who is always taking attendance or showcasing their fresh kicks (kicks, meaning their clothes, shoes or accessories…which they might have borrowed money to get). The F**ked up thing is that most of these guys have no money in their pockets let alone account. You will always find them where there is a party and the food is FREE!!!. They are always looking for a way to get extra cash from their school fees by jailing (lying about the school fees) their parents. Funny thing is, these are the type of guys that run entertainment cliques, clubs and so on….. I have a very good friend in this category named Usi Joseph who is a fresh, funny and broke nigga all together.
BIG BOYS DOING “BIG IN STARCH”
These set of big boys can be seen in every category meaning they may be brilliant or dull, it all depends. One distinctive character with these type of big boys is that they don’t joke with starch. The type of starch they use can’t even be gotten in Abuja, it has to be from those place where cassava production is high…lol!! With their well tailored, ironed and starched shirt, you just unanimously believe these guys are big boys. I always respect ma nigga Osho Klinsman. He dey everly starch shirt even with e boxers.
BIG BOYS WITH A BRIGHT FUTURE IN
“DRUG DEALING”
Whew’… coedine people
This category of students are said to live in the “ wilderness“. They smoke weed day in day out, forming bad guys up and down, bullying people. These ones are basically wasting their parents’ money in school. I’m way better than these ones, I know that for sure. They are the type of students you see in the examination hall and say to yourself “so this one is even in my
department??” like are you freaking kidding me?
They just show up!!! Anyway, these guys don’t care! They are probably anticipating a future of that of “Ghost” in the Tv Series, “Power”.
BIG BOYS LIKE THE “GREAT GATSBY”
I hope you have seen the movie, “Great Gatsby” by Leonardo di Carpio. Well, back to the point, these are the type of guys that have a bit of everything. They don’t miss classes and they are always on the top of their academics. They are neat, classy, have selective friends. To an extent, some other
students usually regard them as proud people (well me am proud sha). These types of students usually don’t make a first class but they are always very close. Another admirable thing is, they are hard working and can keep a balance between every activities they find themselves in. Most of them are Entrepreneurs as they try to think beyond what’s being taught in a classroom, thereby exposing themselves to the events of the real world. Forgive me if it’s like I’m hyping this category of guys cos I’m part of them but jezz!!! It’s the fact. I think girls should pick their boyfriends amongst these ones.
More on girls coming soon…………

Stress: its surprising implications for health
Whether it is down to work pressure, money worries or relationship troubles, most of us experience stress at some point in our lives. In fact, around 75% of us report experiencing moderate to high levels of stress over the past month. It is well known that stress can cause sleep problems, headache and raise the risk of depression. But in this Spotlight, we look at some of the more surprising ways in which stress may harm our health. The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) define stress as the "brain's response to any demand." In other words, it is how the brain reacts to certain situations or events. It is important to note that not all stress is negative. Many of us who have been in a pressurized situation may have found that stress has pushed us to perform better. This is down to a "fight-or-flight" response, whereby the brain identifies a real threat and quickly releases hormones that encourage us to protect ourselves from perceived harm. It is when this fight-or-flight response overreacts that problems arise, and this usually happens when we find ourselves exposed to constant threats. "Stress is caused by the loss or threat of loss of the personal, social and material resources that are primary to us. So, threat to self, threat to self-esteem, threat to income, threat to employment and threat to our family or our health," Stevan Hobfoll, PhD, the Judd and Marjorie Weinberg presidential professor and chair at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL, and member of the American Psychological Association (APA), told Medical News Today. Stress levels 'too high' in Americans In February last year, the APA released their annual "Stress in America" Survey, which assesses the attitudes and perceptions of stress and identifies its primary causes among the general public. The survey, completed by 3,068 adults in the US during August 2014, revealed that the primary cause of stress among Americans is money, with 72% of respondents reporting feeling stressed about finances at some point over the past month. Of these, 22% said they had felt "extreme stress" in the past month as a result of money worries. The second most common cause of stress among Americans was found to be work, followed by the economy, family responsibilities and personal health concerns. On a positive note, average stress levels among Americans have decreased since 2007. On a 10-point scale, respondents rated their stress levels as 4.9, compared with 6.2 in 2007. However, the APA say such levels remain significantly higher than the 3.7 stress rating we consider to be healthy. "[Last] year's survey continues to reinforce the idea that we are living with a level of stress that we consider too high," says Norman B. Anderson, CEO and executive vice president of the APA, adding: The surprising health implications of stress "Stress is significantly associated with virtually all the major areas of disease," Prof. Hobfoll told MNT. "Stress is seldom the root cause of disease, but rather interacts with our genetics and our state of our bodies in ways that accelerate disease." Some of the more well-known implications of stress that many of you may have experienced include sleep deprivation, headache, anxiety and depression. But increasingly, researchers are uncovering more and more ways in which stress can harm our health.
Heart health
According to the American Heart Association (AHA), stress can influence behaviors that have negative implications for heart health. Have you ever arrived home after a stressful day at work and reached for that bottle of wine? Many of us have. In January 2015, MNT reported on a study that found working long hours was associated with risky alcohol use, which the study researchers say is partly down to the belief that "alcohol use alleviates stress that is caused by work pressure and working conditions." Some of us may smoke in response to stress, while others may "comfort eat," which can lead to obesity. All of these are factors that can contribute to poor heart health by raising blood pressure and causing damage to the walls of the arteries. According to a study reported by MNT in November 2014, stress may also reduce blood flow to the heart - particularly for women. The study researchers found that in patients with coronary heart disease, stressed women had a three times greater reduction in blood flow than stressed men. Stress has also been associated with increased risk of heart attack. In 2012, a study published in The Lancet found that work stress may raise the risk of heart attack by 23%. And in February last year, MNT reported on a study by researchers from the University of Sydney in Australia, which found periods of intense anger or anxiety may raise heart attack risk by more than nine times. Even after a heart attack, stress may continue to affect health. A study published in the journal Circulation in February 2015 found women were more likely to experience higher levels of mental stress following a heart attack, which results in poorer recovery.
Diabetes
You may be surprised to learn that stress has been associated with increased risk of diabetes. In January last year, a study published in JAMA Psychiatry found that women with symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) - a condition triggered by very distressing events - were more likely to develop the condition than those without PTSD. Periods of stress increase production of the hormone cortisol, which can increase the amount of glucose in the blood - a potential explanation for why stress has been linked to higher risk of diabetes. For people who already have diabetes, stress can lead to poorer management of the condition. As well as interfering with stress hormones and increasing blood glucose levels, the American Diabetes Association note that stressed patients with diabetes may be less likely to take care of themselves. "They may drink more alcohol or exercise less. They may forget, or not have time, to check their glucose levels or plan good meals," states the organization.

Drink Water, It Makes You Smarter
We get it. Despite the never-ending health benefits, staying hydrated may not top your daily to-do list. If you can't get yourself to guzzle enough H2O, new findings might offer extra motivation: Drinking water can boost your brain power.
In a study presented Wednesday at the British Psychological Society Annual Conference in London, researchers found that students who brought water into exams performed better than those who didn't.
To make sure they hadn't simply concluded higher-scoring students are more likely to bring water into a test, they used the students' past coursework grades to set a general ability control. So even among generally poorer-scoring students, bringing water into the exams boosted their grades.
"The results imply that the simple act of bringing water into an exam was linked to an improvement in students' grades," says Chris Pawson, a professor at the University of East London and one of the study's co-authors, in a release from the British Psychological Society. For those of us who've graduated from the test-taking world, the same could apply for our cognitive performance and work productivity, in theory.
Smart Water, Naturally
The researchers don't know if the students actually drank the water they took into the exams, or how much they drank, but their presumption is that the test-takers consumed at least some of the water they brought with them.
And while Pawson and his colleagues didn't get to the bottom of why water had this effect on the undergraduates' grades, they have some theories. Maybe water enhances thinking power, leading to better scores.
Maybe agua alleviates anxiety and stress, both known to hinder exam performance.
Either way, add "it makes you smarter" to the long list of reasons you should be drinking water. It already has a reputation for regulating body temperature, flushing out toxins, aiding digestion, balancing blood sugar, and even helping you deal with seasonal allergies, to name a few. The easiest way to drink more water is to have it in front of you.
At your desk, keep a big cup next to your keyboard. (Just don't spill it.) On the run, always take a refillable bottle.
If the taste (or lack of taste) turns you off, flavor your water with slices of lemon or fresh fruit.

How to get over a break-up ASAP
Chances are if you're above the drinking age limit, you've probably experienced a break up at some point or the other.
If you've not however, count your blessings.
Break ups can be a tough situation to deal with, especially in this age of social media where we're all not just physically connected, but also in virtual space via one social media account or the other.
This largely means that in a break up situation we not only have to go through the withdrawal process physically, we also have to severe ties online too.
By and large though, break ups vary from one person to the other, while some are amicable, others are bitter and drawn out, while there are cases where one party simply makes an unannounced exit from their partner's life, also known as (aka) "ghosting".
Regardless of which end of the spectrum one falls, it's never an easy process to severe emotional ties with anyone.
So, we've put together 7 points to guide anyone dealing with such a situation. Check them out.
1. Have a mourning period: You've just got out of an intimate situation with someone, it's perfectly human to be upset about it so don't let anyone talk you out of it. Allow yourself some time to wallow in the emotions - cry, be angry, moody whatever floats your boat. But only for a short while, then you must snap out of it and focus on healing.
2. Avoid being alone: With the mourning period over, avoid being alone as it gives you time to think, then you start to reminisce on your time together, get sad again and possibly get tempted to call, never a good idea especially if it wasn't an amicable breakup. So avoid being alone, instead hang out with friends and/or family.
3. Embark on a new project: Is there something you've always wanted to do - learn a new language, learn a new sport, take a course or even start a business? Seize the opportunity and do so now. Find something you're really passionate about and do it as this will keep your mind busy and distracted from the breakup you're dealing with.
4. Create a better version of yourself: The perfect revenge for a breakup is the ability to come out better whether it's finally getting to lose that weight, landing that dream job, setting up a business or even landing a much better catch. Petty? Maybe, but it works wonders for the ego which is always a good thing. So, turn an unpleasant situation around by focusing on creating a better version of yourself whether its physically, spiritually or financially.
5. Try something completely out of character: No, we're not talking about having a one night stand or anything like that. It's the simple things like taking a new route to work, talking to someone you normally don't talk to in the office or school, it could even visiting another state. There's nothing more distracting or fulfilling than trying something new.
6. Make new friends: Sometimes the world can suddenly have a new meaning when we experience it from someone else's perspective. So, make an effort to seek out new friends and you'd be surprised at how much fun you'll have in the process.
7. Get rid of every reminder of your ex: Notice how we've been harping on embarking on new experiences in the points above? The last thing you need is a reminder of what put you in a breakup situation in the first place, so delete, delete, block - phone numbers, pictures, social media accounts, friends everything. Just keep them away from immediate reach even if you don't want to delete.
If you've not however, count your blessings.

5 ways to know if someone really loves you
There is no specific way to know if a person truly loves you but there are a few signals to let you figure out what is on the mind of your loved one.
Paying attention on how the person acts, what they say and what they do when you are together can let you know if the person you love loves you back.
1.) Is the person happy being around you?
If a person has had a very bad day but lights up when you come around, that's a sign of love. If he/she is in love with you then the sight of you or your voice is guaranteed to make him or her feel better. To be sure, see how s/he reacts the next time you show up when s/he was in a bad mood.
2.) Does the person say "I love you" and means it?
If your romantic partner really loves you and tells you this much while looking into your eyes, sounding earnest, and not wanting anything from you, then it's likely that s/he really means it. If the person undeniably loves you, then s/he will say it for no reason at all, not just because s/he needs a favor or because it feels like the right thing to say. However, remember that there is a big difference between "Love ya!" and "I love you."
3.) Can the person honestly be him/herself
around you?
When someone loves you, he completely opens up to you. If you get to see a whole side of that person that he/she doesn’t show the public, that may be a love sign. For instance, if your partner is pretty serious or polite in public, but shows a more goofy and silly side when you're alone, then s/he is really opening up to you and loves you. If the person shares his/her deepest emotions with you and is comfortable with it, then that is love. If the person is also being comfortable not looking perfect, tripping, or having food stuck in his or her teeth around you, that means s/he is okay if you see every side of him or her.
4.) How does the person look at you?
There is that stir that someone gives you that melts your soul. You can check your loved one's face the next time you see him/her… does he/she look at you in a goofy, watery, silly and adorable way that can only be described as "googly-eyed"? You will know it when you see it. You won't get this look all the time — you can spot it in the morning, or randomly across the dinner table. You may also be able to catch the person staring at you with the same expression.
5.) Does the person talk about your future
together?
If the person talks about the future and always includes you in it, then there is a good chance s/he truly loves you because true commitment means seeing a forever with another person. If the person routinely talks about what you're going to do in the future, about what your lives will look like one, two, or even ten years in the future together, what your kids will look like, where you will retire together, or where you will go for your honeymoon, then he is probably in love with you.

getting-married?" question at LEAST once a week: From friends and family to everyone in between, you've been inundated with this question more times than you care to remember.
2. You fart in front of each other without flinching: You know you've arrived at a solid place with your partner (or even friend) when you can pass gas in front of them without feeling uncomfortable.
3. You can finish each other's thoughts: With just a glance across the room, you know it's time to take off.
4. You've planned your entire wedding and changed aso-ebi colours like 5 times: Ladies, this is all on you. You've combed through virtually every wedding website and are up-to-date on all the latest wedding trends, because of this you can't seem to make up your mind and have changed wedding dress styles and aso ebi colors on several ocassions.
5. You've reworked your life to align with your partner's plans: Suddenly that MBA seems like a waste of money because it means you'll have to be away from your partner for a while.
6. You know your ring size and have your engagement ring all picked out: You've hinted and all but spelt out exactly how your engagement ring should look like, proposal or not.

30 Qualities that Make Ordinary PeopleExtraordinary
Warren Buffett is successful for investing and building long-term businesses. Bill Gates is successful for creating a software empire that has changed the way we use computers. Gandhi was successful for leading India into independence from the British.
Success comes in many ways and forms. What’s interesting is that most
successful people have very similar qualities.
When I read lists such as this one, I want to see how I stack up against it. It feels good when I recognize qualities of success in myself. For the qualities that I don’t have, lists like these tell me what I need to work on.
I have enjoyed and benefited much from these types of lists and that’s why I decided to organize all my research, observations and experience and compile this comprehensive list.
If you want to achieve your life’s dream and be wildly successful, you need to model yourself after people who are living their dream. The more qualities you have in common, the higher your chances for being wildly successful.
We all start out in life as being quite ordinary and many remain that way. The few who have become extraordinary have these qualities (no specific order):
1. Definite Aim, Vision and Purpose –
Successful people constantly seek clarity in their lives. They know what they want and they follow their own dream. Vague desires and beliefs lead to vague outcomes. It is this sense of direction that gives them the staying power to stick to their goals and achieve their dreams.
2. Expertise and Excellence – No matter what
they pursue, they become the best in their field. There is no job too small and successful people strive for excellence. They pursue mastery and understand that money is a by-product of the value they offer.
3. Focused – People who experience success know how to concentrate. They realize that they cannot do everything and they focus on the activities that will give them the highest return on the goals they want to achieve. They don’t believe in the hype of multi-tasking and they know that the fastest way to finish your to- do’s is doing them one at a time.
4. Positive Attitude and Perseverance –
Extraordinary people have realistic optimism. Realistic because they take action and optimistic because no matter what the result may be, they believe their success is inevitable. They believe that like a child learning to walk, they need to take action first and then modify the action according to the feedback that they get. This positive attitude allows them to persevere and be resilient when things don’t go their way.
5. Flexible – One misconception that ordinary
people have about persevering is staying the course no matter what. This is true only if the reason for pursuing your goal is still valid. Most successful people became successful doing something different from what they initially intended to do (i.e. Steve Jobs started with computers, went into the animation and
really made his comeback with the iPod). This is
normal because the world is always changing and they know a lot more now than when they started. Successful people know that if their reasons for doing what they are doing changes, there is no point to continue.
6. Masters of Time – Successful people are
successful because they get a lot done. The only way to do that is by making the most out of the allotted 24 hours we all get. Extraordinary people value their time and see the direct connection between how they spend their time and their well-being. They are usually always on time and “train” those that deal with them to respect their schedule by implementing strict start and end times for meetings.
7. Strong Communicators – People who can
communicate effectively excel in life. Strong
communicators understand that just because people speak English (or the dominant language in your country), it does not mean they understand each other. What makes them effective is that they are clear about and sensitive to the outcome they want to get from their communication and are flexible in their method of communication to achieve their outcome. They are experts at building rapport and separate what is being said from the meaning they put into what is being said.
8. Brave – We’ve all heard the phrase “No risk. No reward.” but how many of us really take the risk necessary to get the reward we want? Not many but for those who do, they are the ones who make it and become successful. Successful people have the courage to begin AND the courage to continue. They are willing to not only bet but go “all in” on themselves. They are not afraid to burn bridges if it means moving forward.
9. Givers – Successful people are generous givers. They know and are convinced of the “secret” that the more you give, the more you receive as long as you are genuine about your gifts. They operate on the principle embodied by Zig Ziglar’s quote, “ You will get all you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want. ” If you haven’t tapped into this secret, you should get started right away. Money isn’t the only thing you can give. You can give time, expertise, space, etc. Look for ways to open doors for people.
10. High Self-Esteem – Extraordinary people believe they deserve their success and know that they can do anything they set their mind to. They understand that a mistake is something that they do and not who they are. They also monitor the warning signs of low self-esteem to ensure they always keep a positive self-image of themselves. They realize that self-esteem is a state of mind and choosing to have high self-esteem is much more useful than choosing to have low self-esteem.
11. Action Oriented – We all know of people who have potential or talk a big game but accomplishes nothing. Those who spend all their time thinking about doing something will never succeed. Successful people are doers and not talkers. They don’t wait for conditions to be perfect before they take action. They just go for it, observe the feedback and then modify their next action accordingly. Those who don’t achieve much with their lives tend to use “would”, “should” and “could” a lot. Those who do get what they want are too busy achieving their next goal to explain themselves. If you suffer from procrastination, I encourage you to check out some practical ways to stop procrastinating.
12. Confident – This is what helps successful people take action. Like the chicken and the egg, confidence helps you achieve your goals which in turn makes you more confident. A great way to be confident is remembering your past successes and overcoming your fear of failure. Signs of confidence include empowering others, not taking criticism personally, and understanding that the first time you do something is always the hardest and all subsequent times WILL get easier. Success is the combination of confidence with competence.
13. Readers – Most if not all successful people like to read. If you believe that success leaves clues and that you can be successful by thinking and acting like a success person, then reading should be a part of your daily life. I’ve come to realize that with access to more books than I can read in several lifetimes, it is important to read the books that will make the most difference to you. Usually these are the books that will help you become a true expert in your field of your passion or challenge the limiting beliefs you have about yourself. So what should you read? Check out book recommendations from people who are doing what you want to do. Extraordinary people are life long learners who view mastery as an asymptote that they keep getting closer to but can never reach.
14. Trusts Intuition – People who succeed in life trust their “gut”. They may not be able to explain rationally why or how they made their decision but they knew it was the right thing to do. Successful people learn to harness the power of their subconscious by sending it “orders” from the conscious mind. This involves mentally visualizing the outcome beforehand and then being present to take in the data and information that will become the ingredients for your subconscious to deliver the “orders” that was sent. Learning how to meditate is also a great way to develop and get in touch with your intuition.
15. Curious and Embraces Possibility – Two people are running a race and they come up to an immense wall blocking their path. One person sees the wall and starts getting down on himself for wasting his time and decides to quit the race before he wastes even more time. The other person immediately thinks about what the possibilities are for getting over the wall. Will he/she climb it, break through it, dig under it, etc? No matter which option he/she chooses, he/she immediately acts on their decision and collects feedback. Successful people adopt an attitude of curiosity and they truly feel that they can always learn something from someone else. They incorporate the great qualities of others while make a point to avoid the bad qualities.
16. Self Acceptance – Polonius had it exactly right when he said “To thine own self be true“. People who are successful don’t pretend to be something they are not. This allows them to express their creativity freely and to not worry about hiding who they really are. The best way to accept yourself is to genuinely appreciate and accept others. If you tend to Judge other people, you’re probably not very accepting of yourself either. The worse type of rejection is self- rejection.
17. Big Dreams – I have yet to read a biography of a successful person who didn’t have grand dreams for what they would accomplish. Sir Richard Branson, Walt Disney and Sam Walton all had big dreams and for the most part achieved more than they originally imagined. This is one of the reasons they became successful. They are not afraid to dream big and then go for it. If you want to know whether someone will be successful, ask them about their dreams. If they sound plausible, then they are not dreaming big
enough.
18. Well Rounded and Balanced – Truly successful people strive to be successful in all aspects of their lives. They live healthy lives, become financially independent, nurture meaningful relationships, develop personal mastery and accomplish their professional goals. They know that sacrificing one key area to achieve another will not help them maximize their true potential. It is hard to be your best and to contribute when you have to worry about how you are going to pay the rent.
19. Excellent Network – Successful people understand the importance of relationships and how It is one of the most important factors in achieving your goals. They also realize that the best way to build a great network is to give help to others first with no expectation of reward. Those who constantly take without giving usually do very poorly on building a solid network.
20. Enthusiastic – A sure sign of someone extraordinary is the enthusiasm they have about their passion and their life. They wake up in the morning excited about their day because they know it is going to bring them one step closer to achieving their dream. Successful people tend to be leaders because others are attracted to their enthusiasm and become followers hoping to experience the same excitement and energy.
21. Admits Mistakes – There are two things you can do to guarantee that you will NOT be successful in the future: Blaming Others and Making Excuses. When you do these two things, you give up both your responsibility and power. When something goes wrong and you blame other people or make excuses, you are clearly stating that you have no power in this situation and things are happening to you and not because of you. Great people admit when they are wrong so they can focus on the solution and not waste energy finding a scape goat. Check out what Albert Einstein can teach us about setbacks.
22. Mind set of Abundance – Successful people
don’t view happiness or success as a finite resource where achieving happiness and success for yourself means denying someone else happiness and success. They believe that there is enough to go around and it is more about creating value and not competition. This is the quality that allows them to be happy for other people’s successes. This mindset also encourages empowerment of others. If you think $10,000 is a lot to spend on a hotel room, check out this article by Steve Pavlina.
23. Good Character – Heroes are people who triumph. Think of all the heroes you know (in movies, books and real life). Don’t they all act with honesty and integrity? Aren’t they usually generous with others and frugal with themselves? Doesn’t everyone look up to them? Being a hero that triumphs in life is no different.
24. Great Company – As I experience and observe more and more of life, I’ve come to realize that you really can learn a lot about someone by the company that they keep. Test this by looking at people you know and the people they hang out with. You can go as far as to test the idea that a person’s salary is usually the average of the five people they hang out with the most. This happens because people with similar beliefs tend to get along and stick together. If a group averages $65,000/year and someone in the group believes that they can make $65,000/hour, the other people in the group will think that is ridiculous. Yet in the group where everyone makes $65,000/hour, the person making $65,000/year will probably second guess his/ her own beliefs concerning earning ability.
What does that mean for you? Surround yourself with people living the life you want to live and adopt their beliefs and habits.
25. Listener – Everyone wants to be a great speaker but how many people strive to be excellent listeners. People who listen succeed in life because they are able to hear and understand the needs of other people and to focus their energy on meeting those needs. The fastest way to be a good conversationalist is to listen well and ask questions.
26. Self Control – Successful people rarely lose control. They don’t go into panics or blind rages. They have learned to control their emotions and to consciously (or subconsciously) put themselves in a resourceful state. They understand that they can’t change other people or what’s happening to them but they can change how they react to it and how they feel about it. Another sign of self control is doing what you’re suppose to do despite how you feel about it.
27. Prepared – Extraordinary people are always prepared. They not only have a plan B but also a Plan C, D, E and F. They mentally rehearse and visualize the possibilities vividly so that when the actual situation occurs, their brains will “remember” what to do.
28. Choice – People who are successful are in control. They know they ALWAYS have a choice. They don’t feel victimized by their genetics, history and/or circumstances and they truly believe that the past does not determine the future. They write the script to their lives.
29. Self Reliant – Successful people rely on themselves. They don’t need permission to do what they want and they don’t give other people permission to slow them down by relying on them. They believe in themselves and their ability to achieve their dreams whether anyone helps them or not. What’s interesting is that it is exactly this type of attitude that attracts others to want to help you. Samuel Smiles writes about this exact topic in his book, Self-Help.
30. Energy Conscious – Those who become great understand that successfully managing their energy is just as important if not more so than managing their time (Quality #6). One of the most important principles in energy management is knowing that rest is as important as action. Successful people are aware that low energy produces poor results and this violates their need for excellence (Quality #2). One of the best ways to manage your energy is to sleep your way to success.
So where do you stand?
I hope you have either reconfirmed many of your own qualities or have created action plans to develop the qualities you are lacking. Focus on cultivating one or two qualities at a time. Once your beliefs and actions are aligned with those of a successful person, you’ll be amazed by how successful you become.

EDUCATED ILLITERATES – EDUCATION IS BEYOND CERTIFICATE
It is high time we gave another definition to the term “education”. To some people, education borders on going to school, acquiring degrees and working for a company to earn a salary at the end of the month.
My dear readers, education goes beyond acquiring certificate, “ we must redefine education“…. Education teaches you about how to make rules, break rules, and challenge an ongoing trend, school teaches you about how to follow rules, live by the rules, and live an ongoing trend unchallenged, thereby limiting that power of creativity in you.
Have you witnessed a scenerio whereby you asked a Maths lecturer about how he arrived at a certain formula, and he tells you “that is how it is done”?, and mind you, if you do anything contrary…you FAIL his exam, therefore you must follow the rules.
A truly educated man is he who has developed the faculties of his mind to follow his passion, find solutions where there are problems without following the rules, but creates his own ways through his deep imagination to achieve his dreams.
Checkout most of the world’s richest people today, they are mostly school dropouts. Do you think they are not educated because they are school dropouts? Far from it! They are really educated in their own ways, they simply decided to build their own dreams rather than allow themselves to be hired by other people to build theirs.
So many people spend their precious years in school only to end up acquiring certificate NOT education.
Examples of these people include:
1) * People who don’t practise what they
learn in school before graduation.
As a student of Computer Science, how many codes have you written that worked? Have you been able to (in reality) write a program that solves the problem of an organisation?
As a student of Business Administration, how many
businesses have you started? How many times have you experienced failiure in business, and rose again? So, are you putting what you are learning in school into practice? The school will not give or teach you these orientation but education will.
2)*People who have no SKILLS
…successful people don’t depend on the
government of their country to provide jobs for
them. A truly educated person has skills, an uneducated fellow can only boast of his certificate without any skills to back it up. True education lies in the ability to solve problems with the skills you possess…..what are you waiting for? STAND UP NOW, do not procrastinate, learn a skill you are passionate about.
What am I advocating?
This write-up is not in anyway articulated to undermine the importance of schooling… Going to school is very important but our mindset about school is what we are advised to change.

5 TIPS ON HOW TO BUILD YOUR RESUME WHILE IN SCHOOL
Nobody can ever underestimate how important it is to have a good resume. First impressions count, and the first impression that a potential employer will have of you, is going to depend on how you present your resume. This is going to be your one and only chance to capture a potential employer’s attention, or for your resume to be tossed into the file of those they don’t want to pursue.
So how can you build a resume while still in school?
Review yourself
Being in school teaches you transferable skills to
the workplace without you even knowing it. You
have to spend time looking for them because
teachers don’t have time in each class to point out the skills. For example – full time students are often adept at organization because you are doing sometimes up to six subjects with multiple
assignment and you fit them all in and on time.
Consider volunteering
This is an excellent supplement to a resume and helps build more transferable skills into the workplace. It demonstrates a well-rounded and grounded individual to a potential employer as well as a hard-worker. There are many opportunities for school students to give back to the community.
Choose a Format
There are several basic types of resumes used to apply for job openings. Depending on your personal circumstances, choose a chronological, a functional, combination, or a targeted resume. Here are the different types of resumes to use to apply for jobs.
Focus on a Job type
Resumes work best when they are prepared for a specific job. So what kind of job are you interested in after school? Knowing the answer, will help you focus your resume appropriately. Not all types of resumes are useful for every job type, and you have to know the difference between a resume and a CV.
Close with referees
Make sure you contact these referees first and let them know you are using them. There is nothing worse than a referee caught off guard to ruin your chances. If your still working on sourcing referees or there are privacy concerns initially close with referees available on request. But make sure you have these issues sorted out before any interview.

10 HELPFUL TIPS FOR 2ND CLASS LOWER AND 3RD CLASS GRADUATES
A lot of emphasis have been placed on the need for students to graduate with stellar grades. I will continue to advise same. It’s common knowledge that most big firms in Nigeria don’t recruit graduates with less than a 2.1. Many graduates
with 2.2 or lower are not even given the chance to prove themselves, eventhough some of them may be better than some graduates with higher grades.
This is exacerbated by the high unemployment rate in Nigeria. It won’t be a shocking news to know that there are still a few organizations that aren’t even accepting corps members (before the recent policy on posting), graduate interns and contract staff with grades lower than 2.1.
But that truth remains that students will continue to graduate with such grades, whether we want it or not. Many finish with such grades for reasons that are entirely avoidable while others are caused by factors seemingly beyond their control.
But whatever the reason, they still deserve to live a fulfilled and responsible life. A few have sought my advice as they appear confused after graduating with 2.2. or third class. I have therefore decided to provide some general tips that can help graduates with 2.2 and lower. This is based on personal observation and experiences of others, some of whom I know to have made remarkable successes despite their low grades. Adapt them to your peculiar situation.
1. Work on your mindset –
This is the first step towards overcoming the challenge of having a low grade. Accept the reality that it is likely going to be tougher for you out there compared to other graduates and start preparing for it. Know that you will most likely have to prove yourself and work harder than others. Don’t sit and whine peevishly about how life has been unfair to you. Life itself is a challenge. Realize the challenges on time and brace up for it. Don’t waste precious time on regrets and don’t fall into the trap of inferiority complex.

2. Network –
Let’s face the facts and not deceive ourselves. Graduating with a 2.2 means that chances of joining the one of the big companies as an entry level staff in Nigeria in an open recruitment process is lower than others with better grades. Very few companies give 2.2 graduates the even the slightest opportunity to prove themselves. It is therefore very essential for you to learn to network. Improve your interpersonal skills and hone your networking skills. From observation, more than 70% of the graduates I know that graduated with 2.2 or less in the last 5 years got their jobs through networking. Strengthen your networking skills. Go to conferences, professional associations, etc. Get reliable contacts and industry informants. Polish your linkedin profile. Don’t ignore religious and ethnic gatherings too. Friends can also be very helpful.
3. Improve your communication skill and
confidence –
This cannot be overemphasized. Communication skills (speaking and writing) can greatly enhance your chances of getting a job. The difference between 2 equally smart graduates may boil down to the ability of one being to express himself more than the other. Communication and confidence go together. Confidence in speaking can even make falsehood appear true. Have you ever wondered why con artists are able to swindle people? They talk and write displaying great poise and confidence. This is not to say that you need to lie arrogantly to get a job. I’m simply reiterating the need for you to sell yourself suitably because no one else will. You stand a better chance if you can.
4. Go for a masters or professional
certification as soon as possible-
While a masters or certification will not entirely take away the drawback caused by having a 2.2, it might ameliorate the effect. Believe me, there is a big difference between a BSc (2.2) in Accounting and a BSc (2.2) in Accounting + ICAN certification. Same goes for a BSc (2.2) in electrical engineering and a BSc (2.2) electrical engineering + MSc (distinction) in software engineering. Some companies are willing to consider 2.2 backed with a masters degree. The last NNPC advert for entry level positions considered 2.2 but with Masters degree. Besides, one can pursue an academic career depending on how good your postgraduate results are. It is good to consider a good postgraduate programme.
5. Learn new skills –
Your skills can enhance your employability. Search for suitable skills that can complement your BSc degree or help you build a career for which you are interested. I have seen graduates learn programming, graphic designs, web design, etc and making a whole lot of money from them. Some learn useful engineering softwares. Some are simply astounding when it comes to database management. Others have great marketing ability. Quite a few are good writers and bloggers. The list goes on and on.

6. Don’t be discouraged to start small –
While it is not impossible that you land the big
dream job in a top organization on your first trial, the chances may not be very high. Fortunately, the significance of grades diminish gradually as you acquire relevant job experience. Never feel discouraged if you have to start from a humbling work background. You do need that relevant job experience. It may come from an internship or volunteer experience. It may be a frustrating one- man business. The pay may appear too little for your comfort. The employment may be on contract basis. It doesn’t matter. Squeeze out as much experience as you can. All those experiences from the so-called ‘dirty’ jobs can add significant weight to your resume in your next big job hunt.
7. Practice hard copy CV circulation –
We all know that there are very few openly advertised vacancies that require 2.2. for entry level positions. You might wait endlessly as a 2.2 graduate if you are seeking only publicly advertised jobs. Common! Quit waiting! Clean up your CV and cover letter, and pursue the unadvertised jobs. Go for unsolicited job applications. You will be positively surprised by how much success you can achieve by that singular but potent act of dropping CV’s.
8. Get mentors –
There is nothing more inspiring than seeing others who have passed through the same struggles and have overcome. You should try and get one or two mentors that can share their experiences and guide you appropriately in your career pursuits.
9. Consider other available options –
You may need to do some critical thinking about options that are open for you. In some cases, students finish with low grades because they chose the wrong course . And in such situations, it may be very difficult to compete against other motivated graduates of same or similar courses. Like a Nigerian adage says ‘ there is more than one route to the marketplace’. Are there other career options available for you to delve into? Have you considered entrepreneurship, multi-level marketing, sales job, etc? Do you love fashion designing, estate management, information technology, etc? Are there ‘menial’ jobs you have handled in the past that can fetch you big money if you decide to go fully into it – like maintenance jobs, food services, dry cleaning jobs, etc.
10. Exercise patience and pray –
Don’t expect a sudden breakthrough immediately. If it happens, rejoice. If it does not, keep developing yourself. Exercise some patience and continue to work hard. I sincerely believe in the powers of miracle. We all need some elements of luck (some call it favour) in the labour market. That’s where the power of prayer comes.
with 2.2 or lower are not even given the chance to prove themselves, eventhough some of them may be better than some graduates with higher grades.

10 Things You Will Understand if You Have Ever Tried Using ATM in KSU
1. The queue
This is the first thing that could turn you
off when you try using an ATM in Nigeria. The queues are usually long
and depressing. It would be difficult getting to do anything on days
like that as you could end up getting stuck there.
2. When you suddenly see 10 people in front of you
While you must have made up your mind to
join the queue on days you have no choice, you would be shocked to see
people who were not on the queue joining the line. These people claim to
have been there before and only went to do something. At this your hope
of being the next person to withdraw would be dashed again.
3. When the machine goes out of service
After you must have waited for long on the
queue, the machine could decide to misbehave just then and go out of
service. It is usually more painful when you have one or two people in
front of you when this happens. If the service is not restores
immediately, that means you have to go to some other bank where the
struggle would begin again.
4. When the person in front of you has five ATM cards
This is another form of frustration;
imagine being on the queue for hours only to have the person in front of
you bringing out five cards.
This means you have to wait for as long as possible before you finally have the chance to use the machine. The annoying part is most of these people are slow and would take eternity trying to figure out how to use the machine.
5. When there is a novice in front of you
Indeed, there are many annoying people in
Nigeria. These people could have been on that queue for as long as you
have been there yourself without mentioning their inability to use the
machine.
When it is their turn to withdraw, they would spend more time trying to figure out how the machine works and would press all the buttons on it before they finally ask for help.
6. When the person before you keep withdrawing
At this point you would feel like breaking
the machine itself but would hold yourself back because you would be
arrested eventually. After wasting your time on the queue and having
seen all sorts of people withdraw, the machine could go blank on you and
say temporarily unable to dispense cash.
But Nigerians are patient and would want to hold on for a little time. Luckily this pays off sometimes as the bank officials may be around to load the ATM again.

8. Your finally withdraw
Imagine the joy and relief that comes from
being able to withdraw money finally. You feel satisfied and do not
really care about the time you have spent trying to withdraw since you
have been vindicated.
9. When your card refuses to come out
Your joy could turn sour after withdrawing
and the machine refuses to give up your card. The struggle starts all
over as you are stuck trying to figure out whether it would come out or
not.
You also have to worry about impatient people who are eager to use the machine and leave. These people would start to curse and swear; they really do not care whether the machine just swallowed your card.
10. When you get debited twice
As if the devil wants to add salt to your
injury, the network could act up and make them debit you twice.
Normally, the debited amount should be reversed in few minutes but then
you never can be sure as this is Nigeria. Anything can happen. You have
to lodge the complaint as soon as possible if you ever want to get your
money back.

THE EXACT REASONS WHY YOU MIGHT NOT GET A FIRST CLASS DEGREE
1. Procrastination.
Procrastination is one of the 10 habits you must quit as a student. It is a noxious enemy of first
class degree. Does it sound odd? How often do you find yourself saying, “In a minute, I’ll get to it” or “Tomorrow’s good enough” and every other possible excuse in the book? Compare it with how often you decide it’s got to be done. This tells you how serious procrastination is. Procrastinating on when to read, do assignment, do researches etc. are the antagonists of your first class ambition.
2. Involving in too much activities.
It is good to be an all rounder but too much of it drains your reading time. I am not objecting the fact that you can always manage your time but it is easier said than done. Put your activities into check and don’t involve in what will cheat you of your reading time. Don’t bite more than what you can chew.
3. Disdaining classes.
I have heard of many graduate with 2.1 that ‘stabbed’ classes on a regular basis. But I am yet to see or hear of a genuine first class student/ graduate that deliberately missed classes. The moment you start stabbing classes, the moment
you open door for the “anti-first class”.

4. Influencing yourself with the mediocre
students.
Except you are helping them to become better students (that’s only if they are ready to be) associating yourself with them as they will only kill your great dream of coming out with a first class
degree.
5.Not taking internship and project work
seriously.
(Internship) is mainly for science and engineering students. Internship has a combined credit load of about 12 – 15 units depending on the course and the institution. Imagine what damage a ‘B’ can do a first class student! You don’t necessarily have to work for a top company as an intern. Sloppiness in filling log books, poorly written internship report, and inadequate preparation towards defense of industrial attachment are enough to cost you an ‘A’ grade. Project and practical works also carry significant credit load as well. Practical work can be particularly tedious, and undisciplined students
can be lax about it.
6. Looking down on small courses.
You might want to place less significance on those courses with smaller units buy they also count. As a first class aspirant, you should never look down on any course.
7. Teaching friends in the examination
hall.
You are there thinking you are helping friends,
unknowingly, you are helping fiends. You are giving chance to your first class enemies. I guess you don’t know the implications of teaching people in the examination hall. It can annihilate all what you have gathered in the past years in a tickle of an eyes. Just allow the invigilators to catch you.
8. The Sadist lecturers.
If you call them ‘enemies of first class’ you made no mistake. (But there are always escape routes, that is only if you care to know them). I must tell you, these sadistic lecturers are indeed enemies of first class.

9. Not studying hard enough.
Don’t be deceived by the sugarcoated mouths. Coming out with first class is never a child’s play. It requires hard work. If you are not the reading type and you are not ready to join the reading team. I am sorry, think of another thing and dash the hope of graduating with first class degree.
10. Campus relationship.
Per adventure you don’t know what it costs to be in a relationship on campus. It costs you your reading time and also, your time of assimilation. You won’t find it funny when you realise the only thing you could do when lectures are going on is thinking about your beautiful girlfriend.

NANS : Association condemns police brutality against students
The National Association of Nigerian Students
has accused the Nigerian police of brutality against students.
Citing the death of two students of Nasarawa State Polytechnic, Lafia, on Wednesday, July 28, the president of NANS, Comrade Chinoso Obasi described the incident as barbaric.
On Wednesday, violence erupted when a detachment of the police force fired shots at a peaceful protest by the students who had earlier occupied the Lafia-Akwanga Road demonstrating the death of a Part 2 student of the Department of Accountancy of the institution, earlier killed by a hit and run driver.
Comrade Obasi condemned the use of force by the police in addressing a protest by unarmed students, which later claimed the life of one student, with many injured.
NANS therefore asked the state government and security agencies to ensure that the culprits are brought to book without further delay.
Obasi said: “The act of killing unarmed students by the Police is very barbaric and condemnable, as we strongly believe that the government must put an end to this without further delay.
Lives are sacred and people who are paid to protect the lives and properties of citizens, must not turn around to become a threat to our lives as Nigerians.”
He also commiserated with the families of the victim and the institution.
NANS has also urged the institution authorities to resume academic activities, adding that it is opposed to the closure of the school.
Obasi said the school closure may be another attempt to prolong the already delayed academic calendar of the institution. NANS assured that it will pay a visit to the institution next week to rectify the issues plaguing the school.
